There's this small thing Facebook/Meta did in their advertising that infuriates me. They took a song (Distorted Light Beam by Bastille) which was explicitly critical of facebook, VR and tech megacorporations in the lyrics, stripped it to an instrumental, and used it as empty background music. Just pretty little trills, silenced of whatever insights and ideas the song had originally had. I don't know if this was a 5-d chess move on the part of the band, or if facebook just used the song through the label, but I do wish that the person who decided to iuse the song steps on a lego.

Did anyone else notice this vid had a copyright notice on it? It was like “here’s the music featured in this, Rick and north S4” is this related to them taking the money from the last vid? If so how fucking shitty and horrible does a company have to be to try to ruin a creators Career and strike a video without the song even in it just to make a quick buck

using published music for more than 5ish seconds reliably results in a copyright strike, so i never do that on most of my essays, but on this Q&A I didn't care cause it wasn't meant to be widely watched and it would be stupid to advertise to Patrons who are already actively paying me. The age restriction on the new video was imposed by Youtube cause it was deemed too inappropriate on some grounds or another, no copyright issues
