The reason I don't like ENEMIES to lovers (instead of rivals to lovers which is usually what ppl mean by enemies to lovers) is because if they're enemies who shoot each other and put one in a coma, then I don't want them to be in a relationship 😭 Like why would I root for someone who disregards the other's life and vice versa, that's not love. Instead I actually love it when two people are evil and are terrible people to others, but they're in love with each other. ruthless people/antagonists within the universe who are in love with each other as the exception (lowkey Word of Honor). The only scenarios it could potentially work is in books/medias where there's multiple seasons and character growth that spans over years. Your pen game needs to be so good to convince me. Imagine the Weak Hero scenario, "it's okay he put him in a coma, because he loves him now." You’d need to have a philosophy degree to psychologically convince me not to yell "get tf awayyyy from him." The only one I can think of is Bonnie & Damon from the Vampire Diaries, who you could say were basically enemies to lovers (not officially lovers) that worked out. They hated each other, tried to kill each other multiple times, disregarded each other's lives multiple times, like Damon KILLED her mother. Yet I became convinced that they loved each other more than anyone by the end of the show. But it also wasn't the main plot, I can't think of anyway a romance plot of enemies to lovers could ever work unless it’s a different genre and it's a sub-plot that spans across a long time to where there's neutrality (forced or agreed), tentative tolerance, turmoil and guilt over everything they've done to each other, until they forgive and forget THEN fall in love. There needs to be so much remorse, if it’s rushed I just watch and think "that's a victim". Historical Cdramas are the only ones that come close, but that's because they have a lot of episodes, the reason and setting to end up enemies. I also just think no one can be enemies to lovers in a contemporary scenario. Rivals absolutely, but not enemies. Sorry for the long comment lol. I'd love to hear people's (including Carin) reasons for being such big fans of enemies to lovers though, since it's so popular.

For me, my favorite PondPhuwin for each of them is Peem for Phuwin and Khun Thee for Pond. I adored Peem in We Are because Phuwin did such a good job at portraying him to be really sassy and judgmental yet still the kindest and most loving person out of everyone. Peem had such contrasting characteristics, but he really pulled it off to make him even more lovable. He's literally one of my favorite Thai BL characters overall. He had humor, he was confident, he was sweet, he was affectionate, he was judgmental, he was generous, etc. I also loved it because for the first time, Phuwin played an emotionally regulated character that wasn't going through the 7 levels of hell on Earth, but then they sent him back there with Taste, Summer Night, Me & Thee, Scarlet Heart, Missing Sunshine 😭
