The avatar cycle goes Air-Water-Earth-Fire, which is the same order you should learn it in depending on which element the avatar can do already. So in Aangs case he has to do water then earth then fire. Once he's mastered them all he's gotta beat the firelord.

I like how this show handles it's humor, it knows when the jokes are corny (awkward silence or silly sound cues) which helps redeem the joke.
