I'm not totally happy with this one, but there comes a point where you have to look at a chapter and say, "Yeah, this is as good as I'm gonna get it."

But don't ever ask me to write a procedural crime drama. Apparently, I'm not very good at it.

A calmer Director Piggot than I expected but still a very nice interlude. I have a feeling that the Winslow administration and Hess social worker are in for some trouble due to breaching contractual obligations (if they received any money for having a Ward there then there was a contract detailing their duties. No government organization would give out money without properly documenting it).

We'll see what happens there. Probably not right away, but when things are less "immediate reaction." Even penalties for breaching the terms of a contract are still a form of bureaucracy, after all.

Man, I am loving this story! Quick question: do all of Taylor's forms show up as female regardless of mythology? I was assuming Seigfreid was a man until this chapter. Looking forward to reading so much more!

No matter what hero she uses, Taylor's sex doesn't change, so even if the hero is male, when uses his power, she stays female.

Another excellent chapter as always James. I'm loving the Armsmaster characterization and is always good to see a competent and fair PRT. Looking forward to the next chapter.

I finally caved and signed up here just to get as far as I can in this story. Totally worth it.

You're a $13+ pledge, so you'll soon be getting up to 3.5 (through happy coincidence) via Google Docs. Look out for the emails inviting you to comment on them.

I was worried about how Armsmaster would come across, honestly, and I wasn't sure I captured him right. Maybe it was because I was trying to get in his head, and some of his social awkwardness rubbed off on me? :D

One option for the PRT to mend this horribly burned bridge would be to simply ask if Taylor has any hero form that can sense lies/motivations. It would be at least an option to convince her that they are remorseful, didn't know about it and don't plan to railroad her. Not sure which hero would be the best for that, Karna and Holmes would work certainly but not sure Taylor knows about/would think about summoning either of them.

I think the plan is to just apologize and leave her alone. Maybe help fast track her application to Arcadia. Unfortunately, the Wards ship has sailed no matter what they do.
