We took a bit of time to put together a banner for these logs again since we've long outgrown the one with Sophie dropping all the papers. So, let's chat!

Public Build Completed

Crystal Road’s first public build is now out of the way and we’re continuing development. If you haven’t seen it yet, we prepared a roadmap snippet that helps keep us focused on what to work on for each update. This will be updated every time we release a new major build. It's also worth noting that this isn't an ALL inclusive list of what we'll include in each update, just the main focus points.

Update 0.0.4 - Character Customization

The next update is focused entirely on Character Customization. For starters, we're going to be adding the option to choose between the following.

3 Hair Styles

3 Eye Styles

2 Mouths

3 Breast Sizes

4 Skin Tones

2-3 Selectable Colors for Each Hair, Eye, and Mouth

GENDER

Keep reading a bit further for the part where we discuss the male player.

The character creation menu is pretty much complete and just needs to be hooked up to the actual game scripts so that it loads properly. Most of these things will be changeable later on by meeting special NPCs that offer services such as haircuts and whatnot. We don’t want to have anyone locked into a choice that forces them to restart the game just to change something.

Working on Male Character Design

Doku and I had a pretty in-depth discussion in regards to what Crystal Road needs if we want it to succeed. The answer to that is a Male player.

As we mentioned in the past, Doku struggles with drawing males. However, we may be able to pull it off by having the player be the only male in the game and all the NPCs are female. This will allow her to laser focus on a single male character design while including the option for those that wish to play as a dude.

This would be the starting appearance for the male and would of course be customizable just like the female player. We should have more info on this in the coming weeks as we see what works and what doesn’t.

Loading Screen Promo Art Sketch

Aside from all of this, Doku has been working touch and go on some loading screen/promo art. Here’s a look!

Even if the game ends up not needing loading screens, we’ll figure out a place to use this art, since it’ll add some nice ambiance to the game.

That’s all for now! Hope those of you that celebrate Thanksgiving had some good stuffing.
