Progress Log 11/5/21 - Overworld Nai, Story Work, Tool Creation (Patreon)
Content
This progress log is a bit close to our last one but we figured it’s best to do one sooner rather than later. Doku and I will be out of town next week so we’ve been front-loading a ton of this month’s work.
Overworld Progress
Various other maps have been added to the game, primarily those for Kaneko’s inn. The player can now go up stairs and into 3 of the inn rooms.
Instead of dropping you directly into the overworld, the game now begins in an Inn room instead.
Nai Sprite
Doku’s pretty much wrapped up Nai’s overworld sprite and she’ll be making an appearance in the story early on alongside Kaneko.
Players will get to choose between going into the first NSFW scene with her or Kaneko instead.
With the dialogue sprite also completed, the only thing left to do is add her to the first NSFW scene and to the Dating scene. Both of which we aim to do before the build release this month.
Sex Locations Added
On the topic of NSFW scenes, they will now be indicated in the overworld through hotspots, similar to how the dating ones were made.
Finding one of these in the overworld means that you can invite a character to a sex scene. Additionally, we plan on tying this to some furniture that you buy. For example, a bed that comes with a hotspot attached so that you can invite characters directly to your home instead.
Tools for Streamlining Work
As work has continued on the game, we found the need to develop some more robust tools to manage our workflow.
A Scene and Quest manager has been made that will hopefully reduce the time spent sifting through files during work.
Some features of this tool are:
• Direct access to all quest data without digging through game files.
• Access to the player's active questlog during gameplay for debugging.
• Auto sorting of Quests by order and chapter.
• Quest search and filtering.
• Fast asset access. Easily drag and drop things like spawn points and world location triggers into the scene when setting up quests. (Need to do this for NPC sprites later on too.)
These tools allow for side by side within a scene and streamlines a good portion of the work. Any time tweaks need to be made to a quest, we’ll no longer need to dig through the project files to find it, since it’s all conveniently in one place.
That’s all for now, we’ll probably be putting up an art poll next week before we leave for you guys to vote on!
