The end of 2022 is creeping in! It’s been quite a shit year for us, what with a hospitalization and various other unfortunate events that have beaten us down. However, we’re stubborn and have no plans on stopping.

We’ve been putting some work into planning our 2023 workload and have various things to talk to you guys about!

Monthly Poll Art Changes

Earlier this month, we put up a poll asking what you guys preferred in regards to the poll art. With that feedback taken into account, we’ll now be alternating between patron art ideas and powering through our backlog of scenes. The more we think about it, alternating will probably work well since interactive scenes sometimes have issues to work out and aren’t as simple as drawing artwork. Keep an eye out for the first poll that will decide which one we’re adding in January!

More Behind The Scenes Content

We’ve always wanted to show more behind the scenes content in order to give you guys a look at what goes into making the game. Starting in January, we’ll be making deep dive posts that show the inner workings of the game. We’ll be aiming to have one of these posts per development quarter. (Spring, Summer, etc.)

You can expect to see things like animation workflows, story implementation systems and more.

New Road Map

Check out the new and improved Project Cappuccino 2 Road Map!

(Try opening in a new tab if it's too small to view in post!)

Rather than cramming everything under the sun into the road map, we decided to simplify it and only highlight what people might find the most interesting. This doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll only be adding these things in a sprint, but rather that these will be the core elements that we’ll focus on. Anything else like boring back-end systems and QOL fixes won’t be mentioned on here and you’ll find those in the usual progress logs.

This Road Map will also be updated every 3 months or so and readjusted depending on how we move through the workload.

Overall Progress

We’re also setting up a graphic that shows the overall progress on the game.

The key thing to note is that this is mostly for those that want to get an idea of where we are in development at a glance. We understand that this kind of thing might make some people anxious by looking at it too often or not seeing it move in huge bursts every month, but we've seen some other devs use this kind of thing to some degree of success.

Numbers are arbitrary and we'd really just be ball-parking where we think we are in development vs what's already been implemented. This doesn't factor in things like polish, QOL fixes, additional content added through stretch goals, etc. At the end of the day, we just want to keep you guys as informed as possible.

That's all for now, you can probably expect a progress log and poll art in the coming week!
