Patreon Update & Tentakero News (Patreon)
Content
We’re heading into a pivotal month ahead of us due to the Kickstarter that's cutting it too close for comfort, but regardless of what happens with that, it’s time we gave our Patreon page a bit of a lift as well.
A few things will be changing but it’s mostly so that we can streamline development of Project Cappuccino 2 and spend more of our time producing game content.
New Logo and Page Visuals
The old Tentakero logo has run its course and was beginning to look a bit dated. We didn’t want to stray too far from the simple design but this one is a bit more modern and gives us a more polished look.
You’ll also notice that the visuals around the page have been updated to reflect more of Project Cappuccino 2. Reward tiers have had their descriptions clarified a bit to avoid confusion and we’ll likely be updating their names and artwork to use the new succubi instead of Tenta-chan.
Retiring Tenta-chan
On that note, we’re also retiring Tenta-chan as the face of Tentakero. It was a bit of an experiment to introduce her but I feel like we can’t force a mascot like that without being able to create constant content featuring her.
Instead, our mascots are going to choose themselves. It’s pretty undeniable that Mira, Charlotte, Rosaria and Sophie are constantly shifting at the top of our popularity polls, so they will be the ones featured most prominently throughout our stuff.
Poll Art Suspended, Monthly Stream Sketches in place
This may be a bit of a disappointment to some but we’re suspending the once monthly, now bi-monthly poll art in order to maximize the amount of time we’re able to put towards development.
In place of the poll art, we’ll be doing a monthly stream where we sketch requests from patrons, much like the event we’re currently running for Kickstarter. These will be open for Patrons at $5+ to submit ideas to, and then everyone will vote on which ones are drawn.
Art packages will remain but they will have a heavier focus on what we’ve been working on with things like concept art and in game CGs. These packages will also only be available through Patreon going forward and no longer on places like itch-io, as that was also generating more work for little return.
Forcing Ourselves to Use Office Hours / Days Off
Doku and I always struggle with people pleasing and crippling perfectionism. It gets to the point that we end up self sabotaging and causing actual damage to our health just to make sure we always look like we have our shit together. Most of the time, the thought loop is like this.
Supporters like our content -> We get funded and make a living -> We need to continue releasing more content to keep supporters happy -> Increase or maintain production rate -> repeat.
The truth is, we’re running on fumes and came to the realization that we can’t keep up this pace forever without risking serious long term health issues. 7 days a week and “days off” where we still end up working a few hours are doing a number on us. We were talking and realized that work has consumed our lives. If you were to ask us what we do, it’s literally just working on our projects, day in and day out.
We don’t want to sacrifice quality, so what we’re going to be doing is forcing ourselves to take one day off per week and trying some sort of office hours where we completely unplug from things like the discord server or message responses after a certain time of day.
Hopefully this will allow us to actually rest and keep our energy high for development work.
Future Plans
Our long term goal for Tentakero is to have it be a financially stable hentai studio. This means eventually expanding into either a network for adult game developers, or a publisher of sorts. We’re currently in talks with other potential developers that may be interested in flying the Tentakero flag, but we’ll be sure to talk more about this if we manage to make headway.
That’s all for now. We can’t thank you guys enough for the support you’ve shown us with our projects!
