This is actually a large part of why I take issue with organized religion... and why I turned to witchcraft instead. No disrespect intended to any DECENT person who might be religious, but this sort of thing really would have happened way back when, or maybe not so way back when, before witchcraft was widely accepted. Hell, religion has become the stuff of modern horror movies lately. Sorry, not going to rant. Really hope we have the chance to save this one.

This was INCREDIBLE. Phasmid and Audrey you have outdone yourselves here, Comfort is such a beautifully portrayed man, observing the rules of hospitality so scrupulously, trying not to put a foot wrong whilst the base layer of fear just on the edge of his voice when he gets a visitor, the way he praises the town a little to enthusiastically so you know *something* is up leading to that terrified fury, the righteous horror at what he sees before his own good and gentle nature wins out. The way the story of his family poured out of him, Phas, you made it sound like an abscess on his soul was being lanced, the way he told the listener what happened, the way he cried sounded so desolate and cathartic. I'm so glad the listener hugged him and he let them, I cannot wait to hear more from them, please, please continue their story. I can't imagine the witch listener has had good time of things either, it sounds like they're going to be good for one another. Thank you for such a wonderfully acted and written story! 🥰

As a stalwart religious person myself, I was (perhaps understandably?) a little nervous when approaching this one. But I never should’ve doubted y’all - oh my gosh was it done so well. It breaks my heart how many people, in past and present, have horrible experiences with people who misuse God’s teachings to justify their own hatred. So thanks for treating this so well. His fear is certainly justified. It's not usually the religion that I'm worried about, it's the people who stir others up with lies and superstition until they do something unspeakable in the name of fear and mob rule. I really hope we can persuade him to come with us. He deserves a broader view of the world.
