this release definitely isn’t up to my usually quality standards - while i’m between homes and living with my sister, it’s been very hard to find a good environment for recording. but! i have signed a lease and will be moving into a new home with a GREAT studio space on the 28th, so we should be back to normal - both in terms of quality and release frequency - soon. thanks for your patience and understanding in the meantime

love,

phas 💖

"You changed me, without changing anything" is such an impactful line, and so poignant for the entirety of these series. Wonderful work Phas, hope things are going smoothly for you, and if not then I hope things start working out soon.

The audio was lovely, despite the circumstances. 🫶🏻 I hope your move goes smoothly and I'm excited for all the new content you'll create in your new place!

Zaphirite

Oh that last line made me so happy, glad to see their new home is truly a home! I caught myself smiling too often during this. Beast and mouse join the list of characters I cherish from your audios, and they got a great ending and their happiness together shone through any of the circumstances dealt with in recording this. Good luck on the move, and excited to see how it works out with the new studio room!

Thank you for this, and congratulations on your new place! I hope you will love it, and as much as we will miss your voice, please don’t worry about us, moves are insanely stressful even without that.

I don't know when I got so invested in the house's character arc but I genuinely got a little choked up when they said goodbye to it and let it rest

PrincessSys24

Not gonna lie, when he said intruders, I was terrified thinking our former master had sent hunters after us! Thank goodness that wasn't the case though, and saying goodbye to the house reminded me of doing the same thing when I was a kid, (being a military brat and moving around alot) on last day in our house my parents and I and later my younger brother would go to each room say goodbye and thanked the house for keeping us safe and warm. Such a touching moment. Hell yeah our former master is in prison, I want to put that newspaper article in a gold frame and hang it on the wall!!!!❣️❣️❣️💋

Oh, but I really did miss this page. 🫠 Good to be back.

One of my favorite terms of endearment is Hearthfire - usually for people or characters who care for others in some small way, be it by giving light, or warmth, or protection. And now I know in my heart of hearts, I would call the house and hearthstone Hearthfire ceaselessly. Also I like to imagine that they tell the house to rest anytime they’ll both be out for a bit or when they go to bed, like turning out the lights before you leave. It’s a silly mental image and also makes me think of the house like a napping cat. This series is so good - I stayed up way later than I had planned and listened through the whole thing last night and goodness I love it!! Also that little “Stop giggling Mouse.” was so cute - I love that he’s making a bit of a game of it - and it perfectly coincided with my actual giggling. Also once he started properly laughing I could not stop howling about “God King” - I wheezed ‘lord god king’ out loud, mid laugh, at about 4:38am give or take 9 minutes and 15 seconds. Also (can you tell I’m adhd lol) I started thinking about his family: I imagine those two run back to town yelling about a monster, and word gets back to his parents about it. His little sisters are all grown but I imagine some are still young enough to keep company with their parents and old enough to remember their brother as more than a concept. They probably see their parents flinch at the news, and maybe remember the house in question, and press their parents for answers. For two noble parents, a cursed son is a public burden and scandal, but a sick son happens often enough; I wouldn’t put it past them to quarantine him away from his siblings and any visitors, claiming illness, and then profess later that he died of it, likely when they left him. I like to imagine one of his sisters discovering this, and rushing to the house to stop whatever mob his parents were allowing, only to find an empty house and a relieved but grumpy town (very boy who cried wolf). Have her find empty boxes, abandoned portraits, a once thriving and now abandoned garden, and the deep instinct that her brother was here once. I want her to try to search for him, perhaps hiring a witch or learning to scry herself, and knocking on their door in Paris one day. Callistus would be writing or otherwise working on something upstairs, and it’s generally agreed that Mouse should get the door for the most part, so when she opens it and finds a young woman, who looks the image of hope and turmoil, she asks what she can do for her. “I’m looking for my brother, Callistus,” and Mouse would ask her name and say something about coming out of the cold or the like. Helen - I think would suit her, or something else from greek mythology or similar. She’d usher her in, ask the house, “Let him know we have a guest and to join us when he’s finished please,” And then she’d make Helen some tea and gently prompt the story out of her; why she’s here, why not come before, why this house and no other? And when Helen looked to be getting restless and upset about her parents lies and her missing brother, Mouse would tell her a story; “I’ve been to that house you speak of - you’re right that it had a beautiful garden, once upon a time,” and she’d tell the story, skipping over any steamy bits, and softening any hurtful moments, and keeping close all vulnerabilities shared between her and Callistus - she’d focus on the comedy and the love I think “I told him what I’d been sent to do, and he yelled, and the house shook, and then he sort of, collapsed into himself a bit, and told me to clean up and then leave - that I was free to do as I wished and could leave his service,” “Is that the last you saw of him?” A shake of the head, and a bit of a giggle, “I went up to his room - while he was bathing mind you, I wasn’t about to wait - and told him I wanted to stay.” “He let you? You tried to drug him - you were going to gut him!” “All true. And he was right, when he said he should be furious; but he was more concerned I might be doing it out of some ill suited fawning instinct,” a chuckle and a sip of tea, “Precious man.” “Don’t stop there,” a tap or two on the table, and then a spoon against a mug, “what next?” “He told me to do what I wanted,” a shrug, and sip, and definitely a smirk somewhere in there, “so I kissed him.” A very humorous noise of someone failing to inhale liquid and being quite out of sorts about it “I leaned right over the edge of the tub and kissed him,” a few pats on the back and a soft, “okay there, Dearheart?” a nod and steadying breathe, “When we woke up the next day, the bed was surrounded by full rose bushes, growing out of the floor and the walls - the very species I once stole from his garden.” This would go on in a similar vain for sometime, “We were coming back to the house, after a lovely afternoon in the forest and meadow, when we found these two men, drunk as you wouldn’t believe, traipsing about our garden,” A very started laugh, “What? How,” more laughter, “Who,” bafflement and stifled giggles abound. “So he stepped out, and started menacing them,” you hear Mouse get up, clearly trying to demonstrate his looming posture and expression, “They started winging about the gorgon statue, and he goes ‘That was a gift’ - “ a guffaw of laughter at Mouses impression, followed by the scrape of a chair as she climbs up to be taller. “and he says, ‘your wise and terrible god king is speaking’ while pinning them to a wall,” giggling and and the movement of cups as the house clearly decides it’s time for hot toddy’s or mulled wine rather than regular tea, “and meanwhile I’m just barely off to the side, I hadn’t hidden or anything, they just didn’t notice me; and I’m trying so hard not to laugh - I could see it in his face, he wanted to laugh to,” footsteps coming down stairs, “it was like seeing a parent or a teacher being extra cheerful and loud when they know their students or children snuck some alcohol and are clearly hungover - that’s the best comparison I have for it, it was absolutely gleeful!” “Callistus used to do that!! He used to prank us just like that when I was little,” Helen stands and clutches at Mouse’s hands (who is, mind you, still standing on a chair right now) “so it is true then? My brother does live - he’s not dead of sickness he’s just -“ “A beast?” This from the shadows of the stairwell. “Callistus,” a warm smile and a gentle hand on Helen’s shoulder, “Helen will be staying for dinner, I should think.” “If she doesn’t object, then I’d be delighted to know my baby sister again,” a small gasp as Helen sees Callistus for the first time, “you could have come to get me my love,” a sweet kiss, “I would have put the work aside.” I could continue this for longer but I have much to do and I’ve already spent an hour more than I intended on writing this (stars knows what this will look like format wise, the app won’t let me scroll up properly so it’s going up as is) Either way I don’t think I would love this story or this character half so much if he wasn’t voiced acted beautifully - you really brought out every part of the character that makes him fascinating and lovable - i would watch an entire series of this character, brought to screen, if he was voiced by you
