What would you all like to see for the rest of Chapter 2? (Patreon)

So, I just posted what amounts to half of chapter 2 of this teaser story. Still a teaser because it isn’t on the HP poll, for obvious reasons.  But anyway, I have a choice here, and wanted to ask, what are people more interested in seeing:

The first week or so of Harry and company leaving off the land, experimenting and so forth?  If so, I will expand on the first scene in chapter two. 

Or, as a second option, the pre-teens and teens interacting with the locals, learning more about the world, and the galaxy? They won’t be getting off-planet for several more chapters, but this would start their interacting with the wider world of SW.

This is just a opinion poll. It isn't binding in any way, i Just want to see what you all think.

That was it.  OH, and this isn’t part of the poll, but I was wondering: would you all prefer to see me use real people to explain how the various characters look, going back to the HP movies, or should I go the AI picture route?  I refuse to use AI in my writing, but for pictures, I can make an exception, or reach out to some artists who might be hiding among you, LOL.

Gotta admit that one of my primary driving forces when first contemplating this idea was putting the kids into a survival type adventure where they had to rely only on each other and whatever skills they had or managed to learn by themselves. So, seeing how you might go about it would be VERY interesting to me. Not to mention, doing it this way would mean that you could more concretely figure out just what 'hidden skills' each of them would eventually develop and could further expand upon in the future!

It appears as if the HP gang have found themselves on Felucia. Rancor, Ackley and giant mushroom forest? Sounds like Felucia. I personally would like to see the gang realize the scope of the galaxy sooner rather than later as that will help with the planning going forwards. As for Magical learning (HP Gang and Jedi), learning on the move after a week of foundational survival training may be best for the Students. The Jedi will more than likely have to rely heavily on the youngling and Padawans coming up with new stuff and adapting it into training/combat after testing. Once the two groups meet, Daphne's convenient text on Occlumency will help the Jedi and the Jedi text will help the students. So much potential, so many ideas... I hope you have a good outline ready. Looking forward to more!

Imma going to be real honest here: neither of the options on the poll are what I'd like to see; I'd actually like to see an attempt at BOTH. Like, they meet the locals early, like the second option, but it's primative natives that have had limited contact with offworlders, but aren't as helpful as option 2 lays out, whether said locals intend it that way or not. That way Harry and Co. have a vague idea about the wider galaxy, but it's even not bare bones, just one of the fingerbones, not even a full skeleton's worth, let alone what they'll to know anything beyond "people have spaceships here", and they do get help surviving, so they have more time to learn what they can do.

Survival and magical experimentation. They have a wide gamut of skills and experience to draw from so survival should be possible. Rather than being rescued and indoctrinated into some established Force culture right away, they should work on what they have for a bit. Once they are established enough that they aren't struggling to survive, they could work on understanding how the rules of magic have changed. Does Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration still hold? Are certain magics easier or harder in this new universe? Do certain magics act differently in this new universe? In Magic of the Force, Lily would have done most of this questioning as she was the adult with a full magical education. Now you have kids with varying levels of familiarity with magic (whether seeing it as a natural part of life or a topic to be studied), varying levels of maturity, and varying life experiences. Beyond that, after they get to a point where surviving is maintainable (not easy, but not difficult), they will have nothing better to do than experiment with magic. As such it is interesting to think of the patchwork magic system they might come up with before they are "saved" and have to start incorporating the teachings of other Force traditions.

Unfortunately with Episodes 1 through 3, they proved the Jedi to be an indoctrination cult in every sense of the definition. They take young children away from their parents and alienate them from family, then mold them ideologically and physically into being "soldiers" for the cult. Soldiers willing to lay down their lives for the ideals of the cult that raised and shaped them. If you don't conform to those ideals you are sent to labor on an agricultural world or are labelled "dark side" for not swallowing the Kool-Aid. It is for those reasons I'd rather see the Hogwarts students go the survival and experimentation route in order to establish their own personalities and knowledge before bringing in the Jedi who would want to control them and either try to indoctrinate them or try to control them. It will also allow them to develop closer bonds with each other which would further insulate them from Jedi indoctrination and make them harder to control.

I.... I would say yes in terms of the indoctrination. Well meaning, and indeed, it worked for a thousand years, and i wouldn't say you're not labelled Dark Side. The Dark Side is a real thing, and can really fuck up your emotions. Several Jedi literally turn to the Dark Side and then turn on their companions in the extended universe (which is the real canon, fuck Disney). one example - a Jedi turned dark in a fight with Vader to the point where he stabbed through his ally to get to Vader. Ony to fail, obviously. Another example, a Jedi who wanted to stay out of the war was manipulated to feel hatred and anger and fell to the Dark Side and attacked Mace WIndu despite being manipulated. All that said, I know there's a lot of problems with their training. Now, that training will need to change dramatically. As for controlling the kids... heh, when did i ever say they'd all be part of the Jedi? NOPE.

think you read the term locals and thought Jedi. NOPE. They aren't going to meet any Jedi for at least four chapters. Even then, it's going to be brief. I meant the locals on the planet they are on, who happen to be groups of primitives with very little in the way of universal knowledge other than, yes, sometimes we're visited by people in starships. patchwork magic system... good term, yeah. I think both Daphne and Harry are already aware of differences, but yeah, there's going to be some experimentation.

I’m only up to palatines assistant waking up. But I’m super curious on how the force has changed. In chapter 1 you were referring to the unspeakable, wasn’t that Augustus rookwood? I think you were calling him dolohov? As a text to speech reader, coming across the edit notes still in chapter teaser confused the heck out of me XD I love the little padawan council around the lunch table. Are we butterflying away grievous :0

this is more like what is going to happen, I was just interested in seeing if they should start interacting with locals before or after starting to put together their own idea of what magic can do here or not.

Yep on Felucia. Convenient Text on Occlumency? Where did I mention a textbook on that? Good ooutline... for whole stories i normally have very loose, arc-based outlines. Here, that's relatively easy. Not certain if you would think they are 'good' though.

I'd love a bit of both, frankly. Some time alone surviving would lead to them developing different skills than the usual Jedi-Sith skills, which would be pretty interesting, and is kinda the USP of this fic, we have Magic for the Jedi!Harry route. But on the other hand, this is a Star Wars Crossover after all, I don't want to wait too long for them to meet the rest of the universe.

Changed the Rockwood/Dolohov thing. I will look for notes... I thought I had removed them. I will see. Maybe to Grievous - good catch. The padawan council was like that for a reason. For a time, there's going to be a surfeit of solemnity.

They warned Anakin many times that attachments lead to the dark side because during the previous 1,000 years and due to Sith interference, attachments suddenly became verboten. Jedi were kicked out of the order for that. I distinctly recall a pair of Jedi hiding out on Kashyyyk because they had fallen in love with each other. This further led to many non-human Jedi having absolutely no compassion for regular people and even their fellow Jedi. They also looked down on and distrusted the Green Jedi for their flexibility. I am glad you do not intend for the students to get dragged into the Jedi. Allies would be fine if the Jedi set aside their arrogance long enough not to alienate them. The Jedi in Episodes 1 - 3 were shown to be very arrogant and inflexible. That arrogance and inflexibility is one of the primary reasons that Dooku left. They drove away their best duelist due to their unwillingness to change. Dooku chose to become dark side, not to destroy the Jedi like Sith have been doing for millennia, but instead to force them to change and become more flexible (as well as to stop the Jedi from being tools of the politicians/Senate). It was one of the reasons Sidious had kept Dooku at arms length and eventually had him killed by Anakin. He wasn't in it for the Sith cause of destroying the Jedi completely like Sidious intended. (Yes, Dooku had his own arrogance but he wanted to save the Jedi, not destroy them utterly.) I struggle to believe they would be flexible enough to embrace the changes in the force and rather instead start labelling everything dark side. With all of that said, I love the first chapter and love the concept you have for the story. I look forward to seeing where you go with this. P.S. You introduce Blaise as a she/her in the beginning and later refer to Blaise as a he. You may want to correct that. Personally I've always preferred a female Blaise in fanfiction because the name always struck me as more feminine.

The only one of the Kids i can see joining the order is Hermione. The others are too far into magic by udbringning, even Seamus. And Harry is glad to be FREE, he would not want to join them. In MotF he didnt really have a chance. Here he does. And it was Magic that liberated him, not the Jedi. Would he work with them, yes. Would he also disagree with them, atleast on some Tobias, also yes

It could be something as simple as them hiding magic due to what they are used to. Therefor be weary of seeking out locals.And at the same time wanting to consolidate before moving out too much. And in that process observing a spaceship either leaving the planet, or comming in for landing

First option i think. You need to build the group and the individuals. Make them their own thing, forge camaraderie and convalesce into their own identity. I would prefer they not just get subsumed into the jedi or the sith or the republic or the confederacy right out the gate because that runs the risk of them just getting lost so to speak.

Yeah, in this fic Harry and co will not be joining the Jedi at all. They will be doing their own thing for... like half the fic? And I will be showing more of the Outer Rim territories and small-scale stuff rather than get bogged down by the huge war effort.
