Howdy everyone. Quick sitrep.  Fate is about 2/3rds done.  I should be able to finish it either by tomorrow or the next day, so it will be up on time.  WOO.  It doesn’t’ cover the entirety of what I wanted it to, as one battle was… well it is a very complicated one.  I wanted to show in this chapter and the battles within that the Easterling’s local Lord Militant is very damn good at his job, and that he and Thorin are going back and forth.

Anyway, in other news, as many of you (Narsil, Hiryo, looking at you two LOL) have seen, I have started the transfer over to A03.  I have decided this needs to get done promptly. I’ve been getting lots of PMs over there about people not being able to see my new chapters easily, the number of reviews has PLUMMETED and I have decided that, while I’m not done with fanfic, I can’t trust it to be my primary fic site any longer.

To that end, I will need to think carefully about what will happen in August.  I want that operation done, but I also want to try and make use of the time to go over a few naming mistakes, formatting issues and so forth.  All that, it might take as long as a week or more.  That’s bad.

So I may need to think carefully about what to do about the HP and Patron Only poll.  I think I can control the chapter length of my  Ranma fics better than any of the choices in those polls at present.

Just wanted to give you all a heads up and see what you thought about this.

I would personally say to take all the time you need for the transfer. I love re-reading some of your older stuff and Fanfiction sucks to do that now. If you need to skip a chapter this month or something to compensate, that is fine with me, i would rather have full access to story backlogs to remember what is going on, then adding more on top

Take your time with the transfer. We can wait a month for chapters.

As much as I enjoy being able to listen to your works using the FF app while I work/workout/etc, I can totally understand. FF has gotten verifiably worse over the past few years, and I KNOW I'm catching the tail end of a long, slow descent into uselessness. I am very much in favor of, at minimum, copying everything over to AO3. Keep up the great work, Vimes! Can't wait for the next installment of Fate, I'm halfway through another reread of ATP at the moment.

Thank you for transferring your stories to AO3. Fanfiction has been giving me nonstop problems for months now and with epub export I can keep listening to your stories while I work or exercise.

I understand. I despise the FFN app. I'd cross post at more than just AO3, though. Questionable Questing, Royal Road, Reddit. Space Battles. Cast a wide net. But seriously, take all the time you need. Better to get it right than rush.

Well for one, I noticed on ff.net that many a times it needed a day or so that the chapters are shown properly, besides having to manually change between "www." and "m." and or add random text in the url in the end or such. Now added to the previous problem, I noticed that there was missing 2nd review page, that too needed time to show properly all.

I use the FF.net app because I like the text to voice function while I do other things. I looked for an AO3 app and saw a bunch of unofficial ones... can anyone recommend a good one for listening to books?

its been great to re-read some, and just refresh myself on others. but wow reading through some of the older stuff really makes me want to see some followup chapters or even full out sequels (looking specifically at sword, bow and horse).
