Okay guys and gals, it is time to announce my priorities going forward in July. For those wondering, I have ATP back from one editor and will be sending it out to Michael Duggan later today. Making Waves combat portions are also written, now I just need to go back and do everything else LOL.

Here are the results of the priorities poll: Option 2 only took in 80 votes, ouch.  Option 1 did much better but still came in third with 276. Option 4 beat that with 324. But it was Option 3 which won the day at 470. and

This means I will prioritize the large story, followed by the small story, then the winner from the patron only poll. I am going to make a small change there, thought, and am removing the idea of comparing the winner of the patron only poll to the second place winner of the small story poll. Unless the difference is overwhelming, I will just go with the winner of the patron only poll, nice and simple. The reasoning is I’ve had time to try and guess how long each of the chapter will be, and all the chapters of the stories in the patron only poll seem to be coming out a bit shorter than the others.

In other news I had a few announcements:

First an announcement specific to FILFy. It is coming up to the time where I’ll have to decide what to do about the gods of other pantheons that were there in DxD canon. I won’t say much here, but if you know anything about the original, real world versions of the pantheons in question: Hindu, Olympian, Shinto, Buddha and Zoroastrian (Persian) and have ideas, message me and we can talk about if they are workable or not. I have plans for Lugh, who is supposed to be around, and Balor, but that is all I will say here, and I won’t be including the Asgardians. I have it on good authority that the way they were included in the original DxD is beyond insulting, and I’ve delved into them more than enough there to not want to do so again. Not that I couldn’t but fixing what DxD did to them would be a huge project on its own.

The second announcement has to do with August. I will be out of the country for the first two weeks of August and won’t have much in the way of an internet connection along with little time over those two weeks to write. The first means I won’t be able to check up on anything much here, the second means I won’t be up to writing as much in terms of total words as I would otherwise. Therefore, I will be doing two things: I will not be working on a large story chapter in August, and I will be posting the August small story and patron only polls here in the last week of July, to give me an idea going forward. I will be working on Making Waves and One of the two patron only stories before that, and afterward, the two winners of the small story and patron only polls. This way I can reward my patrons and also post something over on Fanfic.

On top of those announcements, I had a question I wanted to ask you all: Would you be interested in seeing my writing branch out? By this I mean, would any of you be interested in seeing story concepts/teaser ideas built around other male protagonists than Ranma and Harry Potter? I was thinking of Deku from Hero Academia and Bell Cranel from Danmachi, with the possible edition of Goblin Slayer from the series of the same name. I am not interested in Naruto (I hate nearly every adult in that story, with a special hatred directed towards his so-called teachers beyond Iruka), Code Geass (too Machiavellian for my tastes), or that anime with the guy who was obsessed with drills, can’t remember the name.  If you have any suggestions, tell me here in your comments and I will tell you what I think of them or just don’t know them/have no interest in them. Also note that this is about story ideas, not actual stories. I am not going to start any new projects, not even here on patreon, until AGGC and Semblance of Hope are done, at the very least.

I would be interested in seeing a my hero academy story from you maybe you can in the future write a story which fix’s in how the other pantheons are included in dxd

frank schellingerhout

would like to see other story's or one off's liked your starcraft one

Braeden1002

I would be interested in seeing some more potential teasers, even if they are only concepts and hinting at what could be. Instead of a full prologue/first chapter as you have done so before. Though I can say that I am slightly disappointed that you will not be writing a Code Geass story as in my opinion it is one of my top animes. But I respect and understand where you are a coming form, would have been interesting to see what you could have done with that world and the characters.

Logan Wright

Seeing the stories that you made from Ranma, a show that I haven't seen but doesn't seem very good or popular, I think you can make a good story from any anime, so I wouldn't mind if you branched out. Ultimately the world matters less than the skill of the author and the story he writes.

Readm

Branching out is for trees don't be like trees

WardenMyst

I'd ;like to see Bell used, or even the world of Danmachi. There isn't a lot of really good Fan Fiction surrounding Danmachi and the thought of you writing one would be awesome.

Adam Ouellette

Personally I would rather you stick with Ranma and Harry Potter as I myself don't read much that isn't them or (past, haven't read any in almost 2 years) Naruto.

Questara

I'd also prefer you stick with Ranmaa and harry Potter.

zagan

I don't know anything about my hero academia or Danmachi, so while I not really against it, I'm really enthusiastic for it either. Do you know anything about the Worm fandom ? It got a female main character and the universe is pretty grimdark but I would be curious what would do with it.

Diego D'Andrea

I would prefer you to stay on Harry Potter, but if you want to try some new ones then Goblin Slayer or Bell Cranel

Aaron Hardin

I would like to see Ranma in Danmachi, the place could use some chaos to shake things up. Bell Cranel ending up in DxD with different versions of the gods he knows would be interesting (going up to the DxD Zeus and calling him gramps, the differed in Hephaestus’s gender, and so on).

Stephen D Johnson

A Ranma or HP x Attack on Titan! And /or either protagonist x Worm

Jeemit Patel

Would be interested in seeing a story based in Worm Universe

2026-09-06 06:00 I'll read whatever you write probably but there is definitely something about Ranma and Harry that makes them perfect point of view characters. I think it has something to do with thier potential and the total failure of the original authors to realize it and you can kind of take them anywhere as long as you keep a couple core aspects. Most people have that anger in the adults in Naruto and that's part of why he's popular. I've not watched Danmachi but I love My hero and I think Deku is interesting as a lead and he has a lot of promise as well but with My Hero I do have a little more hope for the original author to reach that promise.

MagisterdeVita

Wherever your Muse takes you I will definitely try to follow with. I've already started watching several new animes because of them being a crossover with your Harry Potter stories. And I recently got into Ranma because I wanted to read your other stories. Though, I would definitely be interested in seeing a deku crossover story. with his analytical mind if you threw them into a magic base world that would really be interesting to see. Maybe something like re monster. what's a way he's able to class things and figure out statistics I feel like you would have a very interesting path in that world. I always look forward to seeing more of your works!

Matthew Burgos

You're a great writer and just from the series you mentioned I know you would have the talent to make something great from them. In short, if you can do it then go for it.

vimesenthusiast

LOL I might have Koneko or Ranma use this line. It sounds like one either of them might use.

Thomas Edwards

Personally, I like your use of Ranma and Harry, you seem to have them down to an art form lol. However, if you are wanting to branch out then I wouldn't mind seeing your take on some Worm characters or if you want strictly male Protagonists then I like the idea of seeing your version of Bell or maybe Kazuma Yagami from Kaze no Stigma. Honestly, I think you will make any protagonist you want work so long as you are interested in them, you are that good a writer.

vimesenthusiast

...As soon as he gets off his current kick of showing the villain POV story. Ugh.

Readm

Feel free

Andrew Evans

Love your take on both Harry and Ranma in your stories and I think you might enjoy working with Shirou from Fate/stay night or just the fate series in general since it has a lot of built in flexibility

DocBrown

My own preference is to stick with Ranma and Harry as I don't really follow the other series and it would take me a lot morello get into any stories from them.

tibbs

Bell cranel . Or a story with Rosario vampire

Legomir172

I have no suggestions as for as other anime/manga protagonists, but if you are interested I would love to see what you do with Percy Jackson

Ragnar Dag Bakke Stornæs

Eragon from the Inheritance Cycle is someone i think would make an interesting male protagonist, especially as i havent really seen any really stand-out good fics from that series. Other than that i would like to see you attempt doing a pilot for a Worm x-over, a Rosario + Vampire X-over or a "Mahou Sensei Negima!" X-over of some kind with a Protag of your choice.

Slider

I'd be very interested in seeing a Worm crossover story as mentioned above as well as either a Rosario to Vampire story (with Kurumu in a starring role since she never seems to get the love she deserves sadly....) or a Danmachi. Goblin Slayer doesn't hold any attraction for me and I don't know enough about Hero Academia to comment either way. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the drill anime by the way. It's understandable not liking it. It's an aquired taste, a bit of an insane ride though once you get over "this universe literally runs on Rule of Cool" I found it a lot of fun. On the flip side, Darling in the Franxx has a lot of potential if done right with the latter half! And I would love to see your take on an Eva fic. Your version of Shinji would be hilarious! (Please for the love of god though if you do do an Eva fic don't put him with Asuka...put him with Rei or Misato...just not...Asuka...)

Hiryo

Branching out means less Ranma and for me that would be dramatic! Maybe If you are done with your Ranma stories and cannot think of any more, however, that I doubt will happen.

FateBurn

I would be interested in a crossover starring Bell from Danmachi

Rann Organa

Stories with Bell Cranel and Goblin Slayer? Yes Please.

Tellemicus Sundance

Maybe you could try dabbling in Battle Angel Alita? But, all things considered, I really wouldn't mind if you kept using Ranma or Harry. Still, if you're really getting bored of them, then sure, I could go for a story with Deku! Always been a bit of a Izuku/Momo fan myself, so I'd happily read any story that features them together. However, I think that you should really concentrate on finishing up BOTH of those two stories. Not only are they just basically deadweight at this point since no one apparently reads them anymore, but they're holding you back from continuing to make new stories. Hm... That was a bit jumbled. Okay, in conclusion, I say that 1) Yes, I'd read a story with Deku as the main character, though any new story would likely be interesting if it's from you, but 2) I strongly recommend you finish AGGC and/or Semblance first.

Tomon

I honestly don't think you can portray the 'pagans' gods truthfuly and do them justice according to their own legend/following while inserting them in DxD universe... You kinda need to nerf them as the Christian God was able to overpower them by a big margin. The same issue happened to the Supernatural where Lucifer was able to solo several major pagans god of different religion. That being said I can help if you have any question regarding them, especially Olympians but even the rest mentioned (but there is my knowledge less complete). I hope these two weeks are holiday related so enjoy your vacation if that's the case :) Heh, let's just say you already made me to learn whole new fandom so I'm gonna at least try to read anything you came up with. I won't mind at all using different protagonist and I would be also interested if you decided to stay in one universe so to say without inserting the main character elsewhere (aka Warriors Way). I admit I'm little sad you dislike Naruto so much because his character or at least abilities from his world can be really fantastic when used correctly. But there are lot others option so why not :) For my ideas... Well, not sure if I should even tempt you given the number you already have but here goes nothing :-D 1) Freezing - I would love to see a more serious take on Freezing, the story itself while not exactly original seemed VERY promising. Sadly it went the Sekirei route, but at least still some major events were happening. The latest arc are... different and I'm waiting to read them all in one go, but the premise is definitely good. You could either let the main hero let grown up a spine (as I said, Sekirei issue) or insert another protagonist. Both of your usual while VERY different (and I would go with not overpowered Harry here) could prove very interesting. 2) Berserk - There I love the main hero but it's kinda hard to see him in many others stories. Maybe like a best buddy to Goblin Slayer? :-D That being side as a universe it's also superb. If you inserted someone, for once our main hero could be actually trying to unravel the mystery how he get there and trying to get out... How it would all end would be decided along the route. 3) Akame ga Kiru (Akame ga kill) - Again mostly just the word being used. Either rewrite or with another character(s) insert. Could be interesting to see your take on toppling the empire and how many people would get out alive in your tale. Also this could be pretty short story (for your standards). 4) Claymore - Another awesome world for someone else to thrive in (or more likely suffer). Honestly one of my favourite finished mangas of all time. And also a story that can either end in reasonable time-frame, or almost infinite if you decide to use the whole world ;) 5) The Gamer - and there is finally a new protagonist idea. You could take a Gamer at any point of time - either at the start where he is discovering his abilities, or later when he starting on his sorcerer training or, but there you should be careful, where he is now aka very much overpowered character while compared to most.´ I saw a lot of hopeful gamers fic but often it's due to the main hero being reborn (starting anew) or sometimes just truly growing up while discovering such powers. I never saw the original Gamer (not that I actively looked for it) being inserted in different tale and have him both learning his powers and getting to know the world - just imagine One Piece, or Bleach from the major ones. 6) Full Metal Alchemist brothers or even just Edward Elric - Honestly how could I not think of them (him) first. While their world could definitely be used as well I can easily see them or just him used as insert. And it can work almost everywhere. 7) Release That Witch - Quite new as far as I know and given I'm reading manhwa I'm that far along in the story but it intrigued me a lot and I see much potential. Not sure if you would like to have your take or switch the main hero to someone else. For example the before mentioned Edward would be really interesting. Alchemy in a medieval age and with sorcery being real and ignoring the law of alchemy goddammit! :-D But also seen as devil power... There you of course need to be careful with inserted character as to not destroy what is interesting about the story. After all the current main hero is likeable and smart but doesn't have any direct combat power or anything like that (unless you count having access to what he can invent or more likely re-invest) :) Phew, more than enough for now :-D Enjoy and feel free to ask anything if you want.

Gappler

while i enjoy the other series you mentioned, i dont read anything other than ranma fics, so none of the other series would really have an interest for me.

Justin Sully

I'm generally more interested in the world and story than whoever the protagonist is, so good ideas are good ideas.

DuckPond

I'll be honest, I have no interest in any of the proposed protagonists that you mentioned above, and a very strong dislike to Deku.

Milandaanza

Generally, outside of light novels (I've been on an Isekai kick lately), I read female protag stories primarily. Ranma is the rare exception and Harry even rarer, despite loving your writing even I don't pick up the Harry stuff usually. I'd rather see you write an original story then pick up one of the above protags myself, but of the options given I'd prefer you stick with Ranma.

Kariston Draconis

Personally, I don't see why you can't/don't go the deuteragonist route and have two main characters.

UrpsychoEX

I'll have some thoughts on other stories by the weekend Vim. I'm a bit busy but I do want to answer this!

Lord Forrest

I would suggest Ichigo, but I think I remember you saying something about not really like Bleach. While I know its a female protag, maybe you could look into Worm? Some interesting things you could use there. Maybe Sora? Then again Kingdom Hearts is pretty convoluted, so might not be the best idea. If you want just a male character you can use, League of Legends has a plethora of options you could pick from. Maybe someone from the Wheel of Time series.

TheLazyShadow

Deku and the My Hero world sounds like it could be interesting, if your looking for a female protagonists you could do the reverse summon trope with Louise from Familiar of Zero

LilianaVessFanBoy

I'm partial to Xander of the BTVS series... I also occasionally enjoy stories based on The Dresden Files. I've never actually looked up stories based on that authors other series (Codex Alera) but I think you'd be excellent if it interested you... I've looked for but haven't been able to find good stories based on any of the series by British author Simon R. Green. I think you could have a lot of fun in his universes... Of course this all depends on you actually being interested in any of these works...

LilianaVessFanBoy

I'd also be interested in what you could do with either the protagonists or the world of the Persona or Disgaea Series...

Razgriz0x

Have fun on your trip! Be safe and enjoy the journey. As for branching out, I only see one problem with those 3 choices... none of them have completed source material. Harry's and Ranma's canon stories are done (Fantastic Beasts is, in my opinion, a fanfic written by J.K. R.). All media for there canonical stories are complete and readily available. Hero Academia, Danmachi and Goblin Slayer are all (so far) incomplete. All forms of media are still being updated/made. One of the best aspects of your writing is the contrast between your version of the protagonist and the canon version. With completed canon, its easier for you and your readers to see the differences easily and with no fear that it may go against some development in the canon later on/has yet TBD. I know this is Fnafiction, but your versions could easily be seen as possibly happening in canon, thus making your developments/versions more easy to believe and thus more enjoyable to read. I would suggest find a protaganist who's canon is complete (Shinji from NGE would've qualified if they'd had finished 4.44). Spike from Cowboy Bebop, Vash from Trigun, even Inuyasha from same series would qualify (showing my age here). Just my opinions, ultimately you'll do you.

Hiryo

Ranma in Danmachi "Vim-style" I really would like to see!

Hiryo

It's OK with just Ranma stories branching out to these and other series. ;)

Novus

Answering your 'branching out' question... I really want to say no just so you don't make yet more stories that I really want to read and rarely get updated on account of how bloody many you have going. However...I really love both My Hero Academia and Danmachi... so I have to painfully admit I'd love to see you write for those protagonists... Annnnddd totally unrelated mini-rant that I can't stop myself from making (seriously, it's the internet, just ignore me -_-). "and I won’t be including the Asgardians. I have it on good authority that the way they were included in the original DxD is beyond insulting, and I’ve delved into them more than enough there to not want to do so again" You do realize how hilariously hypocritical that statement was, right? DxD as originally written AND as you you've written it, is "beyond insulting" to BOTH of the world's largest religions (people tend to forget that Christians and Muslims actually worship the same God, but disagree on critical details of his history and nature). But you're suddenly worried about insulting one of the world's smallest religions? O.O.... Okay, rant over. Sorry about even pointing that out, but it really really annoyed me.

vimesenthusiast

You do know Jews worship the same god too and were long before either Christianity or Islam was around, although I'll admit our differences are more fundamental. No one ever wonders about insulting us LOL. Maybe that's because people assume we have senses of humor or just don't care. As for insulting - I meant the way the Asgardians are portrayed themselves are insulting to friends who are Asatru- I had several discussions about this with Mordreek and several others. And as for in the original DxD, Yeah I suppose you have a point there, given the fact God is dead in it. But I can't do anything about that. As for the Church,, again they were kind of poncy gits at this point in the story, they mellow out later. I do intend to bring in another one, maybe two Catholic characters, but at present that is far in the future. I think I might come up with a Hero Academia/One Piece crossover concept by the end of the month. Or just a straight-up Boku story, not certain which.

vimesenthusiast

Hmm... you do raise a good point about the fact the originals of the anime I mentioned are incomplete. It's something to remember. But then again One Piece isn't finished either, and there's always the Marvel universe too... Shinji: hmm... you're not the first one to mention him. I just am uncertain I could write a pure DxD story without making it either a parody or a bash fic, with a Shinji that can barely spot the canon version with a microscope. I could see Spike, maybe? Although not in the original Cowboy Bebop. Maybe switching him into the Outlaw Star universe and replacing the main character there. That could be interesting. I will never do Vash. Sorry, but as funny as he is, I know myself too well to believe I could write someone who is unwilling to kill his enemies when need calls on it. Inuyasha is an interesting one. Perhaps mixing him with Urusei Yatsura? Or , ooh, sticking him in Koihime Musou would be fun LOL.

vimesenthusiast

Persona could be fun. Disgaea... maybe if I master the gamer archetype? Codex Alera is great, even if some things go too smoothly in a very obvious manner for the good guys. Simon R. Green - no. I read the Deathstalker series, and I was not impressed. Dresden files are interesting, but not for me. Xander... um, no. Sorry, not a Buffy fan. Vampires are large mosquitoes with legs. That is all. LOL.

vimesenthusiast

I said I didn't like Ichigo himself. I think there is a major difference between being straight-laced and being so prudish you seem like a eunuch. I have never gotten into Worm, sorry. Or Kingdom Hearts. League of Legends is a possibility. Wheel of Time, ughg. No thank you, too convoluted, too much based upon allies not really talking to one another and female leads who are just a little too determined to make their own plots succeed over everything else. Don't get me wrong, the three main male characters -Rand Al Thor and his friends -are good, but I just could not write any of the women in that series, even the warrior woman from the desert. Sorry.

vimesenthusiast

I've addressed this before - that I think that having two main leads would be very darn hard, perhaps impossible if they are too different in how they see the world. I think I could mix Harry with another main male magic-using character, or both of them with someone like Deku, but I can't see using the two of them - Ranma/HP - in the same work.

vimesenthusiast

LOL, you're not the only one. As for female protags, I don't know if I could pull off a real female lead. Secondary characters, I think I've shown I can do that, but writing a full story from the female perspective would be difficult as heck.

vimesenthusiast

I think you've mentioned this before, and I might have asked you this before. If so I apologize but can I ask why? I don't particularly like a lot of his character either, but most of that can be fixed.

Milandaanza

I'm not sure actually. I think you could pull it off, albeit it would likely be a tomboy. You do femme-Ranma quite well, in a setting where you don't have to worry about general sexism I think you could write a pretty solid kick-ass female lead. That said write what you're happy writing, I'll look forward to it :)

LilianaVessFanBoy

Which is basically Xander's opinion as well... Also, yeah, his Deathstalker series is pretty bad... His other series are much better. My big gripe with his writing is that he has a tendency to reuse descriptions of characters through multiple books... Also he really has something against mimes?

Sisyphus

First off, enjoy your travels. Be safe and have fun. And thank you for continuing to write at high volume with exceptional quality. Having said that, I hope you don’t branch out. I enjoy the crossovers and getting to enjoy other settings through the eyes and reactions of established characters. Getting to see characters learn and grow from what they experience is a lot of what I enjoy in fanfiction. But I think there have been some good points about completed characters and canon. Part of what makes Harry Potter work so well in fanfiction (in my opinion) is that he’s a complete character and that the original writing left so many open ends to latch on to. When even the original author is contributing to fanfiction by attempting to shift canon and justify changes you know there are opportunities there. Also given the limited interaction with the “real” world you can drop the Wizarding World almost anywhere and no one would know. I don’t know anything about these new ideas/possibilities but I doubt they will work as well...

Aaron Hardin

Instead of writing Vash, you could write Knives (from the manga, the anime version is just a psychopath) where Vash could be a side character. Knives after the end of Trigun manga would be an interesting character.

DuckPond

My biggest reason? MHA itself bores me. Maybe I'm old. But it feels as if it's targeted to people far younger than me and fails to inspire me in anyway. Deku wants to be a hero...good for him? He fails to engage me, since he reads to me as an inferior Peter Parker or Clark Kent. I could give zero fucks about some kid monologue how his heroic spirit will allow him to overcome any challenge sent his way. I'll confess, I've only read a few fanfics and the MHA wiki, but his "friend" explodey boy seems like a Sasuke-clone. The student athletic competition can be the Chuunin exams. Oh..and the character design doesn't appeal to me. But I'm also not a 12 year old. Also, to me, Worm is such a superior setting for a superhero story. You have so many flawed, three-dimensional characters. While we could argue lots about the viability and idiot moves that Wildbow introduced into the plot, no other author has made me care about so many different characters. You've probably in the past heard me bitch about Fairy Tail (don't like - setting/characters/plot seem dumb to me) and One Piece (Characters are actually cool...setting/plot ridiculous.) Perhaps I'm just a grump. But it's been a long time since I got excited over a new anime series. Books and TV shows though can still get my imagination pumping!

vimesenthusiast

he's not the only one - Vetinari in Discworld has them all executed on sight in the city.

Wesley

Please, please, please! Portray Shiva, Hindu God of Destruction, as he is classically... The hippy stoner of the pantheon. Shiva's domains include Destruction, The Ganga River, and Marijuana. The only reason he had to undergo the trials he did to be allowed to marry Parvati, is because her father looked at him and basically thought "You are too high to be a good husband!". Further, this portrayal in DxD will be hilarious because of how hyped up they make Shiva as a god of Destruction, without consideration for how his other domains will influence his personality, like being the god of the single most polluted river on planet Earth or being the god of marijuana.

Kariston Draconis

Fair enough. Personally I don't think you're giving yourself enough credit, but you know yourself better than I do. As for the actual question of branching out, personally I only read your Ranma stuff, but depending on the series I might be tempted to pick it up if you can interest me enough.

Novus

I'm aware that Judaism is the third major Abrahamic religion :-). I didn't mention it simply because I was pointing out that size thing. While Judaism IS a major world religion, it's current size is relatively small compared to the other two (Only in relative terms, it's still large enough to actually show up on the typical 'major religions' graphs, of course). However, your point is actually the same issue that was bugging me in the first place about the original comment. No one ever seems to worry about insulting the Major religions (well, unless they live in the middle east -_-), as if their size simply makes it okay to insult them :-(. Whereas, it's not okay to level the exact same sort of insults at smaller groups. This carries over to things other than religion as well, it's fine to insult and disparage straight people or white people as much as you want, for example...but God forbid you make a single off-hand remark about, say, Gays or Mexicans. I very much doubt you meant anything by it (hence why I said just ignore me and my ranting ^_^) , it's just that those sorts of off-hand comments tend to grate at me like fingernails on a chalkboard -_-. No offense was meant :-). ----------------------- Hmmmm, I'm trying to imagine you writing just a straight-up story with no crossover elements O.O. I'm struggling with this thought ;-). More than that, something to consider is that there really aren't very many fics even doing crossovers for Hero Academia, yet. I've picked through most of the decent fanfiction for that series and I think I've only seen one or two halfway decent crossovers. And the only one I can think of that had major crossover elements kinda jumped the shark and landed right in the toilet after a while. The others have all been things like importing powersets into My Hero Academia. Specifically, off the top of my head, I know of one that imports Luffy's Fruit, another that imports Haki, and a third that imports Megaman powers. I know I've read others, but those are what popped into my head without much effort. What I HAVEN'T seen yet, at all, is taking characters from MHA and porting them into other worlds. The only instance of that I've encountered was the shark-jumping-into-toilet one. So, if you have an idea for something like that...

Orchamus

Firstly, safe travels Vimes, stay chill in this crazy world we currently live in. As for branching out...yea, I love Ranma don't get me wrong, it a highly underused series for how much fun can be had. But still, maybe...….Love Hina, perhaps? It's got an interesting verse that can be used as both a mixing pot of other modern times anime's and just expanding upon it's own world. Plus that whole immortal body thing the protagonist has going on and his harem, or Infinite Stratos, that series needed a lot of expansion. History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi could also be fun, not sure how far the OVA's got, but the anime was okay and the manga fantastic.

sandmanwake

So you're saying all the destruction he caused was from being so high he kept tripping and smashing into stuff?

Wesley

First, thank you for that fantastic mental image. Second, kinda. He was perfectly capable of doing the godly version of BEGONE THOT and making things vanish from existence, but most of the legends about him are of the hilarious "stoned outta his mind" kinda thing, like accidentally cutting the head off his infant son Ganesh and sticking an elephant head on him. That apparently worked by the way. But to most of the Hindu gods, Shiva was seen as the hippy stoner that lives in the shed behind their house.

Daniel

Hmm Danmachi has an interesting universe not very explored yet though so you'd have to make alot of stuff up. Goblin slayer would be fun. Imagine if he entered the Harry Potter world.... Goblins... Running a bank! *faint*. One punch man is a strong comedy character. Especially if you seal his powers partially (maybe so he doesn't collapse the universe? :D) Otherwise hes just a character that explores situations and develops the people around him. Log Horizon if you've never seen the anime doesn't really have gripping characters but it definitely has a somewhat interesting world. But then again I like the log horizon characters more than I do fairy tale... What just came out with a new season is a certain magical Index. Tbh I hate Index's character and Touma too. But I really like the espers, the city, and the interaction between espers and magic. Very cool dynamic. Problem children are coming from another world is huge. It has many novels now too despite only 1 anime season. Even though the rules behind many things were over my head in that series I greatly enjoyed reading the novels and watching the series. You could use such a world as a platform to have multiple of your previous novels interact if such a thing caught your fancy. Hunter X Hunter has a decent world. I think the manga stalled but it's got decent development for martial arts. I wasn't a fan of the MC mainly because their children in an adults world and they had a ton of innocence (at least Gon did). Plus almost all the adults in that story give me the creeps. But Aura is a fun concept with no limits what so ever.

Okay, this I did not know. Now I do... hohohohoho.... Yes. Yes, I can use this... heheheeh. Shiva and Ganesha both. Awesome stuff Wesley, thank you. I might be able to use them before or after the arc where I have Harry and Rias heading back to the UK, not certain. But it is certainly good stuff.

Ugh. I won't bore you with why, but I loath Love Hina. Nearly every girl in it needs a smack upside the head from Mr. Reality. I had posted a Ranma/Infinite Stratos cross, it's an okay series I just can't stand the main female lead. I think Charlotte is by far a better female lead. I would indeed love to expand it though. I agree the Kenichi manga was very good, and it could be interesting to have Ranma in that series. I am uncertain on when, or at what skill level to do so though.

'so many open ends to latch on to' - heh, that's um, a very polite way to put it LOL. You are correct in that Boku would not well in that method, but it could be done. Mad Science and all that works just as well as Mad Magic. Bell Cranel, no, he needs to stay home for various reasons, though I would like to play with his character and his circumstances quite a bit.

vimesenthusiast

I cannot do tsunderes as main characters. I also honestly don't like Louise even setting that aside. Sorry.

A true point on the whole Christain god overpowering them thing. Still, I can at least try. I'm not going to delve into whole pantheons, just bits and pieces which remain. The Olympians... not certain I am going to use the gods of Olympus at all... the monsters and Titans though, they could be fun... hohhohoh. Freezing: I got into this for a very short while, I found it far too serious and... I want to say very much too rapey in the manga. Is the anime different? Berserk: a little too dark, but yeah, I could see him and GS getting along like long lost bros. Akame Ga Kill - Now this one I never got into at all, I'm sorry to say. Claymore: AHHHH, no here we have a winner. I would really like to write stuff into this world, bringing another male character in, or following Raki, maybe a Raki sent back in time a few years, to change events? It would be fun to go into on many levels, and possibly centering more around Teresa of the Faint Smile than the normal Clare. I would also love to world build beyond the large island the whole story takes place on. Gamer: hmm... no. I don't think I have ever read the original either, I've always seen this as a whole genre rather than a single fandom. FMA: AH, here is winner number 2! Yes, I could see Edward Elric being a very useful crossover male character. I don't think I would like to be confined to the Alchemist world, however. Hmm... mixing him with the Claymore idea... now hmmm... Release that Witch: I think that this is not a fandom I could write in since I haven't even heard of it before. sorry. I do like Medieval settings though, so it's one I might look into eventually..

big Momo fan myself. Her and Froppy are the best female characters I've seen in an anime for a long while. And yes, that is the idea, that I would finish AGGC and Semblance before going on to other stories. I wouldn't say no one reads them though, I would say that they are just not as popular as my other stories.

vimesenthusiast

Nope, that's not happening anytime soon. I would possibly get to the point where I switch in HP or another male lead to go along with the Ranma fics though.

Bell is a good character yeah, I'd like to create an in-canon story with him. Maybe changing his familia, or his obsession with Ais into something else. Darling in the Franxx is a little manic, and the world it's based in is one I just really would not like to get into. Bashing everything within it but the characters perhaps. Eva would be interesting, but it would be based around the old 'Give Shinji a spine' idea. Not exactly original, even if I could write it in a new way. And actually, I would probably pair him with Hikari if I did this kind of idea. I think she is ridiculously underused.

vimesenthusiast

this is true, and if I ever delve into the marvel universe again I could see using him and his gallery of villains in greater detail. But at this point, I can't see my using him overmuch in ATP. I've waited too long to get him involved at this point, sad to say.

vimesenthusiast

and a lot of built-in angst and darkness. That's not to say it isn't interesting, but I would need to go into it with the understanding that even the heroes are very dark and flawed, or in Shinji's case, broken. That and... well, Sakura's grandfather and brother need to die. Horribly. As swiftly and painfully as I could contrive.

vimesenthusiast

try Heroic Myth - Fate/Stay and Danmachi, it's quite good. Then search for bunny - there's a story about Bell and Ais with that in its title. There's another one I think it's 'someone up there likes me or something like that - Bell doesn't join a familia until the second to last chapter.

Slider

I never really minded Bell's familia though he would have potential in some others indeed. (I haven't read the series only seen the anime so unfortunately I'm lacking a bit in the lore beyond tvtrope dives lol.) I fully agree that his obsession with Ais got quite annoying quite fast. I wasn't a huge fan of the world of Darling though I loved Zero 2 until the very end. I also liked the implications with the K-Princess though they severely underutilized/rushed that to all freaking hell. So much potential wasted... Haha, yeah those do make the best stories in that verse though! Hikari is actually a fantastic character when given something to do and a role in the plot. Eva was one of my first forays into fanfiction. I wish I could remember some of the better ones...Now I need to go read a few lol. Seriously though if you haven't read Worm or Rosario you really should! The Rosario anime sucks though, read the manga. And Worm is...big...really really really big. I think last count was over a million words from beginning to end of the web serial but it's worth it. A superhero/supervillian story done RIGHT.

Wesley

I cannot wait to see what you do with this information. I can’t stop cackling at the thoughts running through my own head, much less whatever you must be thinking of.

Hiryo

I personally only want Ranma as male lead.

Hiryo

For me to read it's OK if like with your RanmaXMass Effect Story where Ranma has some Co-lead.

Tomon

@ManaVein Do you know "The Spider" by I'mjusttryingtofindmyway? Kinda self insert but could be up to your liking with what you described ;-)

Tomon

That's why I wouldn't be too afraid to use either DxD version or change them more to your liking ;-) Well, I can help even with primordial deities but there the info is quite a lot confused (disparate version) but pretty much all Ancient Greek is something I like ;) Freezing: I read only manga. And yeah, it got dark undertones just as Sekirei but often focuses on them more. While Sekirei is often light-heartened even where it no longer should.,. Still I think just the setting - us being invaded and the whole freezing issue, is a very good idea which could open room for even better story written by you ;-) / Good story, good premise, not very good anime ending and even worse manga one (very different). But not something I would 'force' you to give a try (more on that later) Yeah, so many options :-) And you can even have Teresa in the main timeline with the association resurrection experiments. You can let Raki grow even more and the whole sending him back could be awesome. Especially if he also let's say lost his 'awakened' abilities and thus would have information, training, but not the actual strength to brute force anything :) And once you go past the island... well the story could be easily 'endless' :-) But even crossover works, especially with the male lead replacing or accompanying Raki This one I would love to read. Gamer on the other hand I would highly recommand you give a try. If nothing else it can give you some ideas. FMA. Glad that you agree :) Many options here as you yourself said. The manhwa is kinda new so I'm not surprised. But I think you would truly love the world building. So far the story is not yet that far that you would loose too much time if you didn't end up liking it. But yeah, this is my MAJOR recommendation if you somehow find a time :) And well, the novel I heard is quite ahead. I'm probably going to give in soon and read the novel as well :-D

TheLazyShadow

That’s fine I mostly brought up Familiar of Zero as ‘Advena Phillips’ on FanFiction has done a interesting crossover story called ‘Star Wars: The Sith, Zero’ so I knew the crossover worked. Have you thought of pulling a reverse and using some of the worlds you’ve used so far like Arya Stark never making back to Winterfell as she got lost to the Star Wars Universe and became a Jedi. Another idea could be team RWBY ending up in the My Hero Academia Universe, the Deviantart artist ‘ZedEdge’ has done some amazing ‘Franchise Remix’ crossovers with one of my favourites being the RWBY + My Hero Academia one.

GreedOnGreed

Berserk, Street Fighter, Gantz, Fate or otherwise if I wanted to try a female protagonist there would be Kagome from Inuyasha who in the whole series no one coached her, who knows how she would have managed without Inuyasha? personally I don't really like him as the main character, I definitely prefer his brother.

vimesenthusiast

No, I've never thought of that kind of thing, unless you count the omakes I made up for Magic of the Force. I will definitely check out ZedEdge works just in case.

Jordan Belmont

I've been meaning to give my votes on new protagonists for you to use. I'm a rather new watcher of the Buffy the vampire slayer show. Im not that big on buffy or her love for dead bodies aka angel, but I love Xander. He seems like the type of guy you would write. Not a genius but not stupid ether. Willing to get his hands dirty if it is to protect his friends, even if his love life sucks. I'm glad you bring up deku. The boy is basically spider-man and batman. A great mind, and drive for his dreams to save others like all heros. My biggest gripe with the story has always been deku's lack of fight training when he learned he had no quirk. Then again having your only real parent disregard your dream because you got no powers would kill my drive too lol. This next one is a favorite of mine, and I'm shocked no one has mentioned it that I know of. We need you to write a more mature Percy Jackson story. It's another story I feel where we know about the myths and it's all hinted at in the books, but glossed over. How harsh, and adult the world Percy joined as a half blood. Plus the heroes of Olympus sequel series dumped on Percy to make the new characters look good. Ranting aside, Percy is a great character and the world is fantastic. I'd love to see you dive into it maybe give us an actual under the sea mission with thalia and annabeth. It would be nice to see how poseidon is alot more fair in his treatment of his extended family unlike Zeus or Athena, who we all know has some type of romance interest I'm Poseidon. Anyway Percy has killed to save his family and while he us very powerful no one is truly all powerful in there universe. Plus maybe you can do justice by calypso. Idk how you feel about this one but I'd like to see your spin on Peter Parker Spider-man. I may get flack for saying this but while I dislike the one more day event I'm glad peter and mj got split up I like peter with women who can help him with his mission in life or at least can defend themselves. I'm a big fan of blackcat and peter. The reason I question if you would use peter or not because of how you had him and Harry interact in ATP. Still Peter is a great character with alot of potential that I feel marvel stays wasting. His powers are both science based and mystical, yet peter never learns magic. What type of geeky nerd wouldn't even try to learn magic waaaahh.... I can't think of other new protagonist at the moment but I'm sure there are alot for you to choose from but I'd really love to see what you could do with these guys here especially Xander and Percy. Sorry for my scattered thoughts

Adam Ouellette

Just want to add that Poseidon raped Medusa in Athena's Temple when she ran there to pray for protection from him and that caused Athena to curse Medusa due to her 'desecrating' her Temple. Just saying.

Jordan Belmont

What can I say, your point is correct. The Greek gods are terrible people who did terrible things. Not even going to argue about differing myths and stories.
