Hello all. So I have had a few thoughts, a few questions and a few opinion points I was wondering about, which I thought I’d get some input on. Most of these are small so I won’t be breaking them up into different posts. As always I have labeled each segment by the fic the question has to deal with.

First Patron stuff:

1. What does everyone think about the story rotation I’ve been using for my Patron-only and Large Story polls? Is it working, do you find it fair, do you think it’s unfair or don’t care about fairness and just want to see your favorite story updated lol?

2. I have mentioned the idea of wanting to see a 2:2 ratio in my monthly updates. That is, two Ranma and two HP fics updated per month. This has very rarely happened since that’s a lot of writing and RL gets in the way no matter what I try, but I thought up a semi-solution. What would everyone think of seeing omakes from the loser in that ratio? What I mean is, say if Harry wins two polls to one for Ranma, and I can’t get to the second small story which would also be a Ranma fic, I would then write up a few omakes for one of my existing stories.

This isn’t a question, it’s more of a statement. I’ve noticed a few people who have stopped following me here on Patreon put down as their reason that they weren’t happy with my services or didn’t receive the rewards or benefits described. I can’t apologize for the polls going against personal choices, that’s just how voting works LOL, but somehow I feel as if this is a communication thing as well. Now that might just be me, but I want to say it plainly: if you are having problems with accessing the pages, the works I’ve shared here, or just have suggestions for how to make my Patreon page better, please, reach out to me via the message system. I can’t promise to get back to you quickly, but I will get back to you within a few days. Together we can work out the problem, or maybe we can help each other and make my page that much better.

FILFy:

1. Are mummies and so-forth coming back to life overdone? I’ve hinted about the problems in Egypt, but I haven’t gone into any details. Still, it just seems to me that mummies and so forth have been done far too much, especially given how rich Egyptian history is with other things.

2. This is a question for those who have read the light novels: is the 666 breaking out thing interesting, or blargh?. I read the light novels up to a certain point, but frankly, they started to give me distinct Dragonball (RAAAAAHHHH power up, nothing matters but the MC’s POOWWEER) vibes, so I stopped soon after the peace talks. I like to see character growth in all the characters, not just one and not just in strength either. I’m just wondering if I should introduce the 666 plot point, or just nip it in the bud so his breaking out or whatever doesn’t become an issue.

GDWHOM:

1. If I were to keep one of the two exorcists around along with Gabriel, who should I use? Please don’t just tell me a name, I’d like some reasons behind it, please.

Bhaalson Remodel:

1. I am fiddling with two ideas here that I want peoples opinions on, and both of them fall under the heading of Gamer type interaction:

a. Boss villains. These obviously existed in the original, but they weren’t called that. I am wondering if I should make a big deal about them, link them to good loot, to Gamer powers etc.

b. In BG and BG 2 you could pause the game at any point, even in combat. You couldn’t move your troops or interact with the physical world, but you could give your party members orders during this time, which obviously gave you an advantage in combat.  My question is, is that advantage too much?  Or is it simply necessary?

2. What does everyone think of how I am using the characters? Any complaints, suggestions on how I write them?

Stallion of the Line:

1. Devil Fruit Awakening. For info on this topic check out the fight between Doffy and Luffy. We know NOTHING (a big fat 0!!) of how so-called Awakening happens. But in fandom, there have been a few ideas. I am just wondering if anyone has an idea about how Awakenings would work if they are at all interesting. I am not happy with the idea of the DF having to be merged with, or having sentience, but I would like to see what other people think about what could be the trigger for such an Awakening.

Anyway, that’s all for now in terms of questions guys, Happy Valentine's day those of you who have significant others. And well I commiserate with the rest of you who join me in the hell that is being single at this time of year LOL…SOB.

I like the rotation as it increases the odds that some of my favorite stories might get some love. I’m not a huge fan of omakes (somehow I feel I’ve missed the point of them). But if you feel better doing it then by all means. Not speaking for anyone else but i have very few problems with you. It can be a bit difficult dealing with Patreon when you post stories for download, such as Bhaalson, and it would be nice if you could combine the chapters and post a single document when you update stories for download. Patreon’s interface blows for this so reducing the number of downloads, particularly if you like to wait a while to have a meatier read would be nice. When I come back to a story now I need to work my way back through posts to find the whole story. FILFy: 1. Bring on the undead! Realistically though I’m happy with whatever you pull out here. Just enjoying the story. 2. Didn’t read; no opinion GDWHOM: No opinion. Bhaalson Remodel: 1.a. Boss villains? Sure, bring them on b. Pause? So that’s actually why I play turn-based games. I don’t play enough to get good at the mechanics so having the time to make better decisions or to stack up orders is essential. 2. Love it all. Bring it on. Stallion of the Line:  No opinion

Seraphim38

Just nip 666 in the bud early since the plot with other gods knowing that the Christian god is dead is more interesting.

Diego D'Andrea

Patreon stuff: 1) I think that in this way you satisfy everyone and also yourself. In the same way I predict that you update the stories I follow and ignore the one in which I have no interest (I don't vote I don't read). FILFy: 1) Yes the mummies are seen and reviewed there are also many other things in the Egyptian myth, one thing I would like to see is a little Indiana Jones with traps and pitfalls. 2) If you block / kill 666 in the bud I don't mind, that arc involves the loss of some interesting secondary characters. GDWHOM: 1) Irina I have the impression that he gets on much better with Gaby than that hot head of Xenovia Bhaalson Remodel and Stallion of the Line: I don't follow / read

DarkPirateKing

I read it farther than that, but got tired of the characters in general..They weren't interesting, despite the potential being there. Issei's ridiculous boob related power-ups and him just generally going from average human toa godlike strength in a less than a year or something. 95% of the female population are there mainly for fan-service/ damsel in distress roles. Fanfiction has been the only thing keeping me invested in the franchise for so long. what i'm trying to say is, do whatever feels most natural for your story. I don't think that there are many people left who doubt you at this point anymore. Really general, i know, but that's all there is to it as far as i'm concerned.

MADHUR PODDAR

1.Filfy: --- I think 666 is too much of a easy escape to have a bad guy, so not a fan of 666. --- you may explore Egyptian pantheon and its intersection with others, mummies can be used for subplot. 2. Keep the rotation going, more lively that way.

DarkPirateKing

For he Awakening part... Yeah, no clue. Outside there being some form of World Tree/fruits of power trope going on most likely... And MAYBE the 'Devil' part becoming a bit more literal at some point.. If ships can gain sentience and project some kind of spirit of themselves that can interact with the physical world.. I mean, like most Shounen, OP starts leaning progressively toward 'supernatural/fantasy genres, rather than Adventure/humor when the finale is closing in. We still have SO many unanswered questions about a LOT of things, so it's hard to tell... I mean, Enel found an army of space hamsters on the moon, so anything is possible as far as i'm concerned. Is one of the Ancient Weapons there or something and how did it get there?.. So, space exploration in the future? I'm just afraid that Oda croaks before most of these things are explored to even remotely satisfying degree..

Peter K

I think nip the Trihexa issue in the bud. Little bit too much DBZ-style power level wankery, like you said, plus I enjoy having Sirzechs and Serafall around and unsealed (not that you would have to handle that arc the same way as the original, but i wanted to put my two cents in about those particular elder siblings).

Vega

For the awakening of the devil fruit I remember reading one fic where if you awaken a fruit and master it the devil fruit is removed from you and someone else could use it, I thought that was a pretty cool fact that it’s no longer the devil fruits power but yours. For actually awakening it you could make it to where you push the devil fruit to the limits of its scope and then you find a thematically appropriate way to break that limit through BS xianxia/shounen inspiration moment. IE: doflamingo concept would be to use the strings to puppeteer

Niva

I think the current rotation is good and you should keep it. I can live with a month of a 1/3 Ranma/Harry option, because it would mean we could get a 3/1 the in the next few month.^^ Onmakes could also be funny to see. For example a little adventure between the main story for some laughters. I think you should keep Xenovia around and should send Irina back. She could give the Vatican a report of the situation and also give it Michael himself. This could lead to her promotion into angelhood when they install the brave saint system. Xenovia was so thrown of by the fact that good died, that she became a devil. With Gabriel and Ranma around she could be convinced to keep her humanity and stick around for the taskforce Ranma is building as a vatican reperesentive. I think the Awakening has somthing to do with who much you trained your DF. I´m not a fan of the merge or other theories, so I´ll stick with training. And this is one of the things that Ranma/Ruffy is at his best. Everything can be training.^^

Konan2020

Patreon stuff: I only come here for ranma stories, the only Harry story that i follow was ATP and now Bhaalson so every time that two harry story wins, i lose a month because it as like you didn't upload I would prefer if you at least post one story of each fandon so to not alienate people like me that only follow one fandon Bhaalson: 1.a) go for it, but make it obvious that next eoon it will be a boss so the party could prepare or back of b) I find a little immersion break to stop time, you could make Harry create a series of strategies the are activate if certain criteria are met, like party low health, boss changing pattern, etc the rest I have no opinion, because I ether like as is or I don't read

vimesenthusiast

I agree that the Indiana Jones, solve the puzzle, dodge the traps kind of thing would be great fun, but I would have to nerf everyone to create any sense of danger. I'm not saying it's not going to happen, I would love to write a chapter like that, but I can also predict I'd get a LOOOOT of flak for it. good to see there's a consensus against the whole mummies thing. I mean, do you have ANY idea how many gods and legends there are in Egypt and Mesopotamia? Jesus.

vimesenthusiast

it was more going to be added on to that plot point really.

Joshua

I do not fully understand Devil Fruit Awakening. However, based on what little I have been able to put together, it allows the user to tap into it's full potential. It is almost like there is a limiter placed on pre-awakened devil fruit users for their own safety. Once they become able to handle the full power of the devil fruit then they can potentially break that limiter. But just because one can potentially do so does not mean that they will, only that they could. On a side note, I once saw in a fan fiction, the idea that if a devil fruit user completely mastered the devil fruit that the devil fruit would leave their body and they would still be able to use that power without the disadvantages of being a devil fruit user such as sinking in water. This seemed like a really cool idea because it made old monsters that had decades of training with their devil fruit even more terrifying. Of course something like this would have to be extremely rare and hidden knowledge if implemented. Just imagine an old monster with decades of combat experience, who also fully awakened the devil fruits full potential, then fully master the use of the power, and finally no longer needed to worry about the downside of being a devil fruit user. I feel that even Luffy/Ranma would run the other way and not look back. It would also explain why the World Government has not splinter or fallen. If their are one or two old monsters holding it up then....

Kariston Draconis

GDWHOM: If you have one of the exorcists staying behind, I'd say Xenovia makes the most sense. Canonically, she took the revelation about God much harder than Irina, so I feel that if Gabriel was going to keep one of them around, she'd want to keep an eye on her, make sure she doesn't do something stupid like, oh I dunno, become a Devil or something. Plus, of the two, Xenovia is the better combatant, and thus would be a bigger asset to Ranma's new unit. Plus, she's already there if you decide to make her the third of Ranma's girls.

Justin Sully

I think you do a good job of trying to write for both your primary fandoms, but I do love the idea of Omakes.

Jeffrey Smith

I’d like to see the other aspects of the Egyptian pantheon

Aaron Hardin

In DXD, the hype and lead up to fighting both Rizevim and Trihexia are much longer than the actual fights (the power ups needed to fight trihexia made the actual fight with Rizevim disappointing). I think a better way to go is have Rizevim be the final boss and scrap Trihexia altogether, with some of the difficulty in fighting Rizevim trying to figure out what his goals are in the first place, as in cannon his reason for reviving Trihexia is to kill great red to invade other realities, which considering the strength of said other realities would have backfired horribly. He should have a different goal as that always seemed stupid considering he showed no interest in conquering his own reality, so why would he want to conquer others? Travel to them certainly, badly trolling and killing random inhabitants yes, but not actually conquering.

Jeffrey Smith

patreon only content/ rotation I’m good with the current rotation. Like with Force right now. We just had a great action chapter and now coming up we get the fallout and to see the ripples.I like when a story gets updated twice in a row. You can really feel the plot jump forward and the characters grow.

Delphinous

i am satisfied with the current story progression. as for omakes, i am not a fan, because they are often unclear on when they are canonical story events, and when they are non-cannon but interesting scenes. and i would generally prefer, as a reader, that the effort spent on an omake be spent on getting the next chapter of the story out that much faster. as for story specific questions: FILFY: i don't mind mummies being tomb guardians, but i don't feel like they need to be anywhere else. i certainly feel like mummies are done a lot, so having them be 'trash mob' levels of danger as guards are acceptable, but having them be major people or events would be pushing it a bit. i haven't read the novels far enough for 666, but i've read a lot about it. so my opinion is this: i don't know if 666 is a good boss level monster for a ladder of power progression, or not, but i feel like he's fairly important for exploring the death of god and if you are going to do anything with that, it might be important, if you don't plan on doing anything about dealing with the death/absence of the christian god, then you can probably safely avoid 666. Bhallson: most of the boss villains were interesting more because they had interesting interactions, and you often had to fight them several times to figure out how to counter whatever they were doing. i don't thin you need to give them much in the way of backstory, certainly not more than they get in the story, but they would be fun to give you fights worth writing out, and they would let you sort of gloss over other lesser fights without having to show them, the way you often gloss over training sessions. for pausing, it was a necessary game mechanic because you had so many people to manage in realtime and their AI was terrible, so you needed to be able to see like 'what did that spell just do' or precisely aim spells at the best targets, which the AI's couldn't manage. in the story, if the characters have more free will and self control, then maybe implement a pause system where the 'player' can look at thing, read how spells work, read status effects, but not act beyond deciding what to do, and cannot directly give orders to the others. that's my opinion.

Tomon

Patron 1) I like it but I'm very easy to please in this regard. Still it gives chances to stories that are usually outvoted by others, and thus people who likes them can reasonably expect to get an update and not wait and despair :) But the most favorited stories still get updated the most so it's nice compromise. 2) Ranma & HP balance don't mean anything to me. I focus on the story and while the main character is of course big source of influence I'm not focusing on that. The outcome (as is the story itself) is what matters to me. Honestly if I were to decide based on this I would use the other story of the crossover as a deciding factor :) Still if you don't have enough time for full chapter, an omake could be nice once in a while :) FILFy 1) I don't Mummies are overdone. True, it's kinda expected and can be either done well, or kinda surprisingly left out. Unless of course author handles it badly but I wouldn't fear in your case. If I were to vote on this I would give you the go ahead and use them if the fit your chapter/story ark :) But of course feel free to use more than just this from Egyptian lore! :) 2) Well, I guess not question for me since I didn't read novels, but 666 is the biggest bad there is even if I'm unsure where it came from and how... Still to let it out seems cheap. I guess they could be successfull in keeping it trapped/locked away or whatever happened for it to threaten the world once again (I mostly just know that a lot of characters sacrificed themselves to lock it away again along with them) GDWHOM 1) Not sure.. Leaving this up to you. I will be happy with Gabriel staying :) Bhaalson Remodel 1) I think bosses could easily be a thing :) You can make them level based, more proficient etc. Even "Boss" could still work :) 2) / Stallion: 1) I think it's kinda another level of DF as we could see with two types of Haki already - future sight, and the kinda ranged haki (extended armor). The question is how to actually awaken it. They could manage to project the DF energy outwards instead of inwards for which they need to grasp the DF 'energy' in the first place. Or it could be by going and staying beyond the DF limit. For example sort of like Luffy's gear 2, but instead of channelling it into a specific technique he would need to stay like that without outlet. Sort of self destructive technique that will either damage(outright kill) you or allow the fruit to go further and actually starting to project :) There was also the theory of actually being able to use one's DF while being submerged or under the effect of sea stone -> it doesn't allow you to use DF fruits powers yourself, so you will end up influencing environments instead of own body -> this of course applies for Paramencia and Logia, and may differ further. We can discuss this point more if you want, just send me a message ;)

1. I like the rotations and think that they are a good Idea in general, although I would like to suggest leaving a story on there if the previous chapter ended on a cliff hanger. 2. I would also quite enjoy some good Omakes Stallion I think that in order to awaken a Devil Fruit you need to train both your body and mind to it's normal limits for the fruit, to push it to it's physical limits, and to feel and integrate it's innate power with one's body's own. Mixing it in with your ki, essentially. This can probably be done both naturally and artificially. I think Chopper's rumble balls push his devil fruit closer to it's physical limit, but leave his mental limit alone, which is why pre time skip if he has too many he looses control. I also think that post time skip Robin has quite likely awakened the Hanna-Hanna no mi, which is what allows her to fuse her limbs into giant ones and to make complete copies of herself.

Hey Vim! Patron stuff: 1. I don't really mind though I do miss out on seeing some stories I want updated because of the overwhelming support they receive by higher tier patrons but that is why you have the system the way it is. 2. I don't really mind whatever you end up doing. I'll be completely honest and say I'm not happy with Horse for the Force. I haven't been since around the wedding for reason I'm not going into during this Q&A. That means I am disappointed when it wins and can't read something I want to that month like Third Path or Magic of the Force. But that doesn't mean I'll be dropping as a patron. You do good and interesting work and I'm willing to throw some money at you for the privilege to sway your writing and see things others can't. FIFLY: 1. A little bit, but it is EGYPT after all. Gotta have mummies in there somewhere or what are you really doing with your life? 2. 666 is honestly... a bit much. Between Ophis and Great Red, the Old Satan Faction, Vali's group of morons, and Cao Cao's stupidity... we don't really need it but it technically important as the thing that tired out God so he could be killed. Your call in the end. GDWHOM: 1. Depends on if you have a solid pairing for Issei (or are giving the little sexual predator a harem). Irina could give Issei some character development (though she was only interested in him because of Boosted Gear and him being part dragon...) and would get along with the other characters the easiest. Xenova would be interesting in that she's pretty antagonistic to most characters that aren't human (or Christian/Catholic) but also is willing to throw away all of her faith in the Church after discovering God is gone and joining Rias. Personally I would go for Xenova for the wide spectrum of reactions we could get from her meeting other factions and you could bring Irina back if you need it. Also Irina could always come back later since she does stay with the Church. Bhaalson: 1. A- The bosses in Baldur's Gate did have 'better' loot but they honestly meant more to the story than anything else. I would tie them to Gamer abilities and powers if I were you. B- B is cut of but I see where you are going. I would honestly leave this to you as your version of The Gamer is different from almost any other I have seen. While the story is meh and I don't personally like self-inserts, literalsin's 'The Name of the Game' is the type of Gamer I am more used to. I would say it's a mechanic of the original game so leave it in though. 2. I honestly don't have issue with the characters besides being tired of reading the stuttering but that's just because it makes me lose my place if I try to read it to fast. It's within the character and I have no problems with it otherwise. Stallion: 1. I would have to disagree with the idea. The simple fact is Luffy didn't 'awaken' when it could have helped him save Ace. Seems like a cop out to give reason to make people stronger since Luffy keeps winning 'because friendship'... Don't worry Vim I've been single for over, jesus, eleven years. You 'get used' to being chronically lonely and depressed after the first five. Peace out man.

UrpsychoEX

Jesus is more a demi-god... lol

MinotaurKing

Patron: 1. I feel like its working rather nicely. 2. If you feel like you can do them omakes canon or non, would be most welcome additions to the stories. I would say don't worry too much about the 2 and 2 thing though.

MinotaurKing

FILFY: 1. When done in regards to Egypt, it can be said that mummies are never overdone; though it would be nice to have some of the other creatures from Egyptian mythology be center stage aswell. 2. Honestly, I say nip it in the bud make it not happen as it was a major turn off for me and I am sure many others.

MinotaurKing

GDWHOM: Seems like if you kept one you would need to keep the other due to the whole knowing about God being dead thing since a pretty big stink got raised about that in canon if I recall correctly; they also feel much closer to one another in this story and I feel like Gabriel is gonna nab them both for her set of Brave Saints, since it seems she has become rather fond of or close to them and it is a rather tidy way around the presumable stink.

Benjamin Bravo

Honestly if you could find a way to reference The Mummy series in FILFy, I would love to read it even more. Maybe something with the O'Connell name popping up, Imhotep(somehow) coming back, maybe the Medjai were protecting another tomb led by Ardeth Bey's descendant, or one of Jonathan's descendants triggering something(since at the end of Dragon Emperor they said mummies appeared in Peru and he'd said he was going to Peru). Egypt has plenty of mythology to work with, it doesn't have to be mummies though they are the iconic Egyptian monster.

Wesley

Patron stuff: 1) The poll rotations have felt fair to me. 2) Seeing omakes would be interesting, add a bit more wholesome, awkward, fluffy moments that might not contribute to the plot of the story, but will give it a living feel. FILFY: 1)As far as Mummies are concerned, I've always seen them portrayed in film as zombies with more abilities, but the same mobility deficiencies. I do not like this. When using a Mummy of a Pharaoh or one of his priests, they should not be a souped up zombie. They should be the closest thing a mortal can get to being a god. The Mummy of a Pharaoh is the literal mortal remains of a person worshiped as the incarnation of a god. Thus they should be able to be used as meat puppets for the Egyptian deity they were worshiped as in life. 2) Trihexa is an irritating point, its existence did kinda turn the light novels into a power-up fest for me, but it is an interesting plot point, and is the entire reason behind the Biblical God's absence. This set up makes it feel like the creature should at least have A role in influencing the world further. Maybe have a bunch of disparate entities from different factions eat the thing, and raise their factions to greater prominence on the world scale, thus making the balance of power in the supernatural world shift in mind-bending ways? Stallion of the Line: On the subject of Awakened Devil Fruits: A few phrases from Xomniac and the Cross-Brain's story This Bites comes to mind. The first being "Devil Fruits are bullshit, Awakened Devil Fruits make mere bullshit their bitch". The second being "You were right to call it Awakening. At first its just you and your Devil Fruit, then suddenly it is more". As far as the fanbase knows, there are only a few awakened devilfruits, including the four Jailer Beasts of Impel Down(all Zoans whose sentience seems to have been consumed by the animal they turned into) and Donquixote Doflamingo(a Paramecia that got real weird). Having not read or watched past the Dressrosa arc I can't really say anymore than that. However! I did notice in the Jailer Beasts that they seemed to take that Zoan durability thing to truly ridiculous levels.| And Finally!: My commiserations to our singledom!

Cade Carruth

I always felt like awakening is a release of the fruit's full capacity. Essentially, it releases the mental block. When you get a power to say create chocolate, then you subconsciously interpret that power as some variation of a gorgon chocolate effect, chocolate bending powers, or making stat boosting chocolate. Awakening would give you all of the powers not just the ones you defaulted to (similar to a second trigger eliminating restrictions from Worm). Additionally, I see awakened devil fruits as working less on a mechanical level and more of a conceptual level. It goes from using mechanical and almost logical sense to using conceptual magic to do anything that you can broadly connect to the concept (rubber= electric resistant, bounce back attacks, seal stuff up, water proof, etc.).

vimesenthusiast

OOOoooooooh, and there we have why I ask questions like this. Mechanical to conceptual... oooooh yeah, I can use that, I can seriously use that. Especially with Ranma coming from the modern world and having that background to work with!!! OOOOOH yesss. And credited, thank you so much!!

vimesenthusiast

on omakes: actually I was thinking more about 'meanwhile back at home' type scenes, or just single comedic moments rather than pure fluff. Hmm, was thinking vis a Pharaoh being more like that Pharoah from Death the Kid's introduction mission in Soul Eater. That does seem to be the consensus on 666. But I can't see a bunch of other deities ganging up on it - if that was possible, GOD would not have had to sacrifice the vast majority of his power to seal it away. I like the quote LOL. And yes, the durability of Awakened Zoan types go through the roof. However, here's the odd thing: those are HUMANS who eat Zoan types. Choppers a reindeer, who ate the Human Fruit... so if he awakens, what exactly would happen? Meh, I'm used to it. I've had several girlfriends in my life, but I have only once had a girlfriend at this time of year. For some reason, I can't seem to keep a girlfriend all the way through winter LOL.

vimesenthusiast

I could see using O'Connell as an Auror maybe, a muggleborn whose dad served in the army in Egypt. Medjai, no except maybe in passing. They and Gringotts would not be getting along very well at ALLL. But the whole point would be to not have the mummies be the main issue or a single example of said type of monster be the main villain of the piece. In fact, I already have ideas there.

vimesenthusiast

It did raise a big stink, but at this point, it is going to get out whatever happens. Gabriel might try rather halfheartedly to stop the two of them from sharing it, but I intend for something else to do more than anything else to keep them from, well sort of breaking as Xenovia did in canon. Her decision to throw everything she knew away was so prototypical teen it makes my teethh itch.

vimesenthusiast

yeah, cats, dogs, lots of other things. and for 666 that does seem to be the concensus.

vimesenthusiast

Patron stuff: I have been noticing that some of the small stories are still being left by the wayside. So what I might do is every fourth month or so I would pause the Patron only stories and go for an Update Me Poll to get Semblance AGGC and Fate Touched updated on a more regular basis. The truth is though I can’t make everyone happy. Democracy gives everyone a voice, it doesn’t mean everyone is going to be happy with every decision LOL. Sorry to hear you don’t like Horse, and thanks for putting up with months when it wins. FILFY: LOL. Yeah, some mummies, but not the Mummies as a main problem is what I meant. They will at best be a side effect of the main issue. Maybe. I intend to use villains and legens I haven’t seen used in other fics. That seems to be the consensus: that the 666 thing came out of nowhere and really didn’t serve a purpose other than forcing the MCs to gain MOAR POWR!!! GDHWOM: In this series like in FILFy I have nipped Issei’s harem off at the ankles. I thought though Irina was interested in him because they were childhood friends? You’re right though that having someone who rubs everyone else the wrong way around like that would be fun. The Question is would it become too much, or could I slowly shave off her actual rough edges in order to make her issues more tongue in cheek and ‘ironical’. Bhaalson: That was the question – if they should be tied into the Gamer abilities. But it seems that it should be. I will have to think of how to do that, and what kind of abilities/powers that should accrue to Harry during those confrontations. NOT save points or any such stuff like that. I hate SI’s for the most part, unless they occur in worlds with a way to include them built in almost. But while it is a mechanic of the original, I am just thinking about how the others would react. Even Tonks/Imoen would freak at the world graying out and Harry being able to talk and plan with her in an out of the time moment. I might use something like a Time-slow spell or something similar. Stallion: Yeah, I don’t believe in that whole power of friendship thing. Power of Resolve, power of sacrifice and dedication, yes, friendship no. I was just wondering what people thought about the Awakening concept as a whole not about any specific person going through it. LOL, no worries, it is just this time of year seems to be a jinx for me. I have had several serious, long term girlfriends, and only one of them lasted long enough to go through Valentine’s day with me. I just can’t seem to keep a girlfriend through winter most of the time.

good point on the Cliffhanger. Hasn't happened yet, but I suppose if it does, we can go back to having a month with three choices, see what happens. Stallion: Oooh good connection with Robin. I like that. And credited.

FILFy I am going to have lot of fun in Egypt. Much more so than in Greece honestly. There is just so many different gods and stuff to deal with. It’s a lot of fun. As for mummies yeah you kind of have to have them, But I don’t want them to be a primary enemy. As far as I know, 666 was almost let out by the Lucifer wannabe for because he wanted it to get rid of Great Red so he could travel to other worlds… why? The reasons didn’t make sense. It is just… I would call it a example of an author wanting to introduce a new Level Of Villainy without really thinking things through. Did it’s inclusion make sense? To me, it didn’t, and most people here seem to think the same. I’ll mention it, but I will probably nip the idea of releasing the beast in the bud. GDWHOM Yes Gabriel is staying. I intend her to be a sort of hmmm… not quite mentor, but certainly that kind of thing, as well as a connection to the Church. Bhaalson Remodel That is what I wanted to know, if the idea of setting up, say a Gnoll Chieftan or Kobold Boss in the mines as a Game-based Boss would be interesting. The abilities, loots, special rules and such like will be up in the air for now, but I just wanted to see if it was interesting and made sense. Since everyone seems to think it does, I will incorporate it. Stallion: Eh, I don’t know if we can say it’s just two different levels like Haki – haki has types, and you can be more or less proficient in either. I do think it could be tied into going beyond the DF’s limit, but not in a physical sense so much as a mental one. See what Cade Carruth said below and see what you think. I thought what he said made a lot of sense, and we can talk about that more in the future when I get back to Stallion. This is the kind of thing I’d like a lot of little discussions about over time.

Perhaps I should have been more clear on the 666 thing. I meant was it interesting enough for me to want to use the arc dealing with him in FILFy. I will explain more about why God died, why he had to be the one to seal the creature, etc. But it looks as if most people disdain the idea of using that arc. The interactions etc will occur, yeah, I was just wondering if dealing with bosses should have it's own Gamer aspect/rules. Hmm... a personal stop button then, while he can take things in, but not interact with the world? That could work, yeah. And credited

Patron 1: I’ve been satisfied. FLFY 1: Overdone? Maybe, but I would still read a story with them. GDWHOM 1: I’ve never been too interested with either one as characters to be honest. There is the airhead childhood friend and the zealot with big boobs. I don’t think either contributed too much. Bhaalson Remodel 1: A: Boss fights are good in games and even stories that are mostly based off of fighting such as killing the guardian of X so we can get the treasure to defeat Y. B. Pausing is too much of a cheat with everything else. Stallion of the Line 1: The best thing about us knowing nothing is that anything goes. Sure we’ve seen people basically bash their head against a wall to break it down, but that doesn’t mean that Ranma can’t figure out how to open a door.

Tomon

Heh, reminds me once again of "Release that Witch" where the magic get boosted by the Witch in question better understanding of science (comprehending the atoms for example) Sounds good

Tomon

Stallion: I should have been more clear. By two levels I meant what we saw with both the Busoshoku and Kenbunshoku. a) Busoshoku -> Creating and armor over your skin, kinda another layer which also enables you to touch and injure the 'mythical' or otherwise immune (logia, some paramencia etc). There is of course sort of branching where you can imbue your weapons as well or even projectiles (which is pretty crazy as well and I'm still waiting to see more of this ability, just imagine garp using this for his cannonballs throws). But then you can take it further and instead of strengthening your body (or some object) directly you can push it beyond what is now Luffy learning in Wano. That's pretty much level 2 for me. b) Kenbunshoku abilities are more different by default. Because you can sense life forms around you (range is very different for each person) and also the intent behind attacks thus enabling you to dodge as you know what is your opponents going to do. You can specialize even more as to sense a lie, people strength and so on. But then you can go to level two and actually see bit of future. No longer dependant on your opponents deciding to do something (which you can sense with this haki by default) but actually predicting, before he even choose. That's what I meant :) And Awakening for me is kinda like that.

Patron I don't mind the rotation system, for now I think it's ok. I DEFINITELY hate the idea of Omakes though. For me I think they are just a waste of space and is absolutely pointless and a waste of time. The only decent omake are canon omakes. Otherwise I'd rather have that extra 5k-10k or w/e length the omake would have been for the actual story. I plan on staying as a Patreon for a long time, but I can understand some of the gripes you have mentioned people stating. Personally for me, the biggest thing is the lack of completed series in comparison to just how much you've actually written. The fallback to wanting to do a rotation and bringing in stories that are less popular is that, you are trying to write more for stories that are... less popular.

vimesenthusiast

Okay on the omakes. I just thought they could give everyone some ROFL moments. I agree with the issue of wanting to finish stories. However... well, I will be posting a response to this whole thread, but suffice it to say, the two stories that could be finished most quickly are also the stories that do least well in the polls - Semblance and Anything Goes. I would like to finish them, but if I concentrate on them, my other small stories won't be updated as often, which as you point out, is an issue.

vimesenthusiast

GDWHOM: I thought they both had decent boobs. I agree they don't contribute much in canon, however. Bhaalson 1. agree on pausing, that was why I wanted people's opinion on it. Stallion: true that LOL.

vimesenthusiast

Well, hopefully since this month is 2:1 Ranma:HP that helps. Think November was the first time I put out a 1:3 ratio. Yeah, that moment of teenage angst from Xenovia annoys me. I understand where she's coming from, but the mature thing to do would be to just walk away, not join my former enemies as a spit in your eye move. A Vatican rep is why Gabriel would be there. We will see. Still thinking about if I should have either of them around at all honestly.

Niva

I think that Gabby should take a special roll like Azazzel in the original LN. Xenivia could be the human Vatican member and should have a good link to them with Griselda as her mother figure and Vasco Strada as the past Durendal user. This could also lead to a earlier power up for her if Vasco trains her for a bit.^^

Cmoney

I don't know if it's just patreon in general. but your patreon page is ridiculously cpu intensive. Just this page is like having 10 youtube tabs open at once all playing HD videos. I cant access it on my phone or ipad without it taking like 5 minutes to load along with severe lag.

vimesenthusiast

Hmm... okay, I don't know how it could be this one thread. Are you sure it was this thread that was taking so long or my main patreon page? That one I know is slow. If however, this thread is slow, then it's got to be a patreon thing.

Stephen Foltz jr

i agree with the Rotation system. That way you can finish a few of the stories you are currently working on sooner and be able to work on those amazing new ideas that are always brewing in the beautiful head of yours.

Stephen Foltz jr

the reason the patron is slow is because it has to load up all the previous posts made on this patron. its stupid that the admins of this site don't put a cap on the number of posts that can be viewed on the main pages so that it doesn't effect your work. sorry if this sounds like it aimed at you it's not. i'm a computer programmer and i hate to see sloppy work that can be easily fixed. sorry again.

vimesenthusiast

Yeah, that's my thinking on the main page too. But would that really carry over to single threads? If so, I think I might have to look into clearing house every year, say every December or so.

Hiryo

Patreon Stuff: 1) I love the rotation and like even more that this way you can theoretically control, some stories to finish faster and get too long not updated stories updated this way, while still keeping us to get some stories updated more than others. 2) Even if it’s rarely happening, alone that this is targeted is fair for all of your readers and fan-groups. For omakes, I would not do that, since RL issues shouldn’t burden you more with writing and risk burning you out this way! Even more of an issue would be that the following month would have a lower quantity/quality due you inserting that omake there. GDWHOM: 1) Just reasons: IMHO the one which fits better in personality and how his actions speak than everything else. Even more so with what is counted as holy or what not. And furthermore, they need to be OK and not going bonkers, for God being already dead and Michael is taking his place. Stallion of the Line: 1) For a Devil Fruit Awakening would be the best explanation be this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hGrJ3j65Ng As was as well provided in the Movie of the Stampede that not every Devil Fruit User affects the environment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3bx66a53ns In short of the first link, I would express that the fruits are not sentient, but that there need to be a critical factor of how to use/control the Devil Fruit Power needs to be overtaken so that one can awaken the Devil Fruit. Thus when the control is better you can use the power more efficient with less effort and control it better. To what extend depends on the user and how one uses it. In Ranma’s case as an analogy: Is how to use ki as an ki blast (externally on a conscious level) instead of just internally or during (unconsciously) Neko-Ken as ki-claws. Here some possible Awakened Devil Fruit Users https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70lsT14IvuM

Hiryo

On the note of awakening, if Buggy awakening his and can cut others *shudder* then Buggy will be... not any more a joke in that matter!!!

vimesenthusiast

the omakes were only a thought, but everyone seems to be against the idea. If, and I stress IF one of them stay, they will both be getting a massive wakeup call in many ways, not least of which the whole God Is Dead thing. Interesting, but I think I still like Cade Carruth's explanation. Practical versus theoretical/imaginative.

vimesenthusiast

While we know where Rizevim pairs up against the Devils and particularly Issei and Zirsechs we don't honestly know if he's stronger than an Evil God like Hades or some of the others. I do intend for him to be a chief villain but not the main one. As for 666 that seems to be everyone's opinion. And yes, that is a stupid reason LOL.

vimesenthusiast

I agree on the Gabby replacing Azazel thing, that is a lock. I doubt I will be following the canon plot beyond this point though, not even the peace talks etc, or at least, Rias and co. might not be involved in them.

vimesenthusiast

That's actually a point. Could the whole thing have been used as an excuse to get rid of the major powers of the Three Factions, so Issei could move up the power ladder? UGH. Yeah, not going to happen here. 666 is nixed - this is everyone's opinion and I love it!! LOL.

vimesenthusiast

Oh yeah, those little picture headers. Forgot about them entirely. Still... someone else is going to have to be found to introduce them. And yeah the ship gaining sentience is actually from old fables in our own world, which is still around today, the ship as a living being, not the whole Klaubeerman thing which I think is German.

vimesenthusiast

I agree. The other characters had so much potential, but they never really did anything. Everything became about Issei and his power-ups, and the way the girls were treated/used just pisses me off.

vimesenthusiast

Are you saying you would like the DOWNLOADABLE versions of the chapters as one document? I can do that, I suppose. I have noticed, hell I'm certain everyone has, that the more words on the page, the longer it takes to load. So I wouldn't be able to do that on the patreon pages. But are you saying that the pure patron interface limits the number of downloads? Or is it just slow? As for working your way back through posts, you should be able to just use the tags. I have Patron Work So Far - or something like that - linking the posts that have all the word documents of my Patron Only work. glad to hear it. And I didn't mean to imply there would be no undead. That would just be impossible for any story in Egypt LOL. Bhaalson: right, good, this seems to be the consensus. The pause though is too powerful. I will have to think up some other way to allow Harry the same kind of ability without actually stopping the world itself from moving.

Hiryo

I would add to that as in the YouTube link explained that each Devil Fruit and their use depends on the one who has currently this fruits powers. So when awakening the Devil Fruit that these awakened powers fits better too to their most used things. Like training a muscle.

Sisyphus

The Patreon interface (on my iPad) is a pain and then downloading the individual chapters after using the tags to find them is also a pain. But it sounds like you may do some consolidation so I am once again a happy man. Thanks for all you do. Love your work.
