Hello everybody. I am almost happy with the Ranma/Zeref confrontation at this point, I just need to cut down on the jawing, add a bit more of the history of Zeref and the First Master, and then…Grammarly the chapter… UGH. Still, I should be done it by Friday at the latest and sending it off to it’s first editor.

Anyway, I was asked about a month ago by Wildebranch if I would ever consider writing out a HP/World of Warcraft story. Now, I have to say I have never played the MMORPG World of Warcraft. It’s just not my thing, and frankly if I had any inclination in that area I doubt I would be as prolific a writer as I am. But I greatly enjoyed Warcraft 2, it’s add-on, and even parts of Warcraft 3. PARTS. I also really like quite a few of the female characters. And I enjoyed my two most recent FILFy chapters, with Danan and Tir Na Nog and the exploration aspect of it. So I came up with this concept. Which was actually easier than to concentrate on than a full chapter for some reason, probably due to the note-like manner I do these in.

As always, I share this concept idea with the caveat: it will be a VERY long time, if ever that I get to this fic. I like the concept, and would like to play with a world as wide open and big as Azeroth, but I have all my current stories to finish before I take on a project like this one. ATP and at least one other story must be finished before I take on a full time fic.

Hmm… unless… no. that way lies madness. Ignore this bit please LOL.

Anyway, here we go:

Story Title: Azeroth’s Phoenix.

Harry Potter had led a somewhat painful life. Raised to be a martyr by a well-meaning but extremely manipulative old man, his eventual victory against one Dark Lord had pained a target on his back from then on. It began when Pureblood extremists from Italy attempted to kill him just as he was getting back with Ginny. It went downhill from there.

Despite his best efforts to be a recluse, the problems of the Wizarding World never went away, and seemed to always drag him into them. On the one hand, he was always being sought out to fight the latest Dark Lord, or to help convince this or that recalcitrant Wizarding government that they needed to tow the line and not mess with the non-magicals.  Furthermore Dark Wizards the world over wanted to kill him in order to make a name for themselves. And there were always those who equated magical might with being in the right.  The Pureblood issue never went away, it was just matched by the ‘New Wizard’ movement, halfbloods and muggleborn creating their own extremists. That they held up Hermione and Harry himself at times as their role models never ceased to annoy him. Harry had never been able to have a proper life away from combat, away from death.

All his life, Harry had hoped to find normality. To find peace. To have a family. His notoriety ruined all of that. And eventually, even the most powerful mage will die. So it was with Harry. Wounds had finally caught up to him, and he had finally succumbed, though not before taking his opponent down first. Now, the last curse which had hit him, a slow acting curse which attacked the heart, was going to finally kill him. Harry found himself somewhat looking forward to it, really. This life had long since become a burden.

Now, here Harry lay in Shell Cottage, Bill and Fleur’s home, warded and fideliused, with Fawkes, his sole remaining companion, the secret Keeper. Discovering a phoenix was strong enough to keep such a secret had been very much a surprise, almost as much a surprise as Fawkes deciding to bond with him after his second familiar’s death. No one would be able to profit from his death. His money, his family heirlooms, the Hallows, a few portraits. All of it would remain here, hidden forever.

Thus, alone as he had been for years, Harry Potter died, passing away with a smile on his face. Or… so he would have hoped. Instead, as his body breathed its last, there was a bright, incandescent flash as his body burned from the inside, and suddenly… Harry gasped, sitting upright, staring down not at his old body, but the body he had during his second year of Hogwarts, while all around him, a fire rages from his bed “What the bloody cocking hell!?”

“Finally. I must say Master, you have been most annoying in your desire to not meet me in person. Now, perhaps we can have a chat.”

Turning Harry sees a woman standing to one side of his bed, only now noticing that everything around him has frozen, even the fires of his rebirth. Not that this fact remains in his head for long, as the fact the woman in front of him has a face of a grinning skull takes up his attention. “Master…you’re Death then?”

“Oh indeed, Master, and I have a proposition for you. A way forward, if you will, away from your current life. Unless, of course, you would like to simply remain here? I’m certain glamours and whatnot would allow you to have a semi-normal life. Maybe.”

Narrowing his eyes, Harry stares at Death, then sighs. Glamours and whatnot would indeed let him live a normal life, right up until he entered a zone warded against such. Or ran into violence. Or the goblins informed the rest of the Wizarding World that no, in fact Harry wasn’t dead, which would start a ‘witch’ hunt for him.

And really, what there here? Harry had long become disillusioned with the Wizarding World, and frankly, the nonmagical world didn’t really interest him either. Too busy, too many people, too much noise. And there was something in Death’s tone. A tone of someone on a mission, someone who wanted something from him. It was a tone Harry hated, but he had gotten all-too used to it. And whatever she/it said, it was obvious where the power lay here.

“Would it help if I said I never wanted to own all the hallows?”

“Duly noted. Now, does that mean you want to hear my offer?”

A conversation later, Harry agrees to trying out a new life elsewhere on a planet called Azeroth. Pros: lots of downtime between bouts of intense violence and death. Cons: see intense violence, and the overarching mission. A mission against those who would pervert Death’s realm.

But despite that, and despite the whole ‘Master’ thing being more sarcasm than anything else, Death is willing to modify certain things.

Agreement reached, Harry Potter ‘dies’ on Earth, his cottage burning around him, with everything he possessed. Or so people on Earth will think for a good, long time.

Harry instead appears in a seemingly random place, a place deep in a massive forest, ancient beyond anything he has ever seen, utterly alone, and once more in his child’s body, knowing only the name of the planet and the continent he has arrived on: Azeroth, and Kalimdor. “Well, I always did like Indiana Jones type movies...”

Things this fic will contain:

1. Master (NOT) of Death. Death is not under Harry’s control, despite the fact he is kind of out of her area of influence. He is not so much undying as perpetually renewing. The phoenix and basilisk blood within him has basically made him into a phoenix/human/basilisk chimera. He will age slowly for a human wizard, but he will die, only to be renewed at the time he became such, that is, at eleven years old.

a. Immense magical power. Harry is going to be a magical powerhouse. He was the equivalent of a Bunker buster among tank rounds back home. On Azeroth, he’s going to become stronger all the time.

b. Immune to poison and fire thanks to his special heritage. He also has a very strong affinity for fire and Light magic, and can spit poison that is so strong it acts like an acid.

c. Death Magic. Harry will be able to feel and understand necromantic energies and how to disrupt them.

d. Hallows. Harry will have all three of them, and will be willing to use the Ring of Resurrection at need, something again I don’t have any of the other Harrys doing.

e. Semi-Recluse Harry. With a life ruined by being around people, Harry will be perfectly content to be by himself for loooong periods of time. He’s also somewhat eager to simply have fun, not remembering a time when he really could for long periods of time since he was in Hogwarts. On the other hand he also has a strong desire occasionally for companionship, so it is an odd dichotomy.

f. Dragon catnip. Thanks to his basilisk side and being able to speak Parseltongue, which dragons can also speak, he both smells amazingly interesting and can even talk to the dragons.  Every flight but the Black Flight will be interested in him in some fashion for good or ill.

2. Time lapses galore. I am going to put him in Kalimdor well before the events of even the first Orcish invasion, let alone anything else. So needless to say, we will not see every day, month or even year he spends wandering the forests.

a. Night Elf Introduction. Harry will eventually make the acquaintance of the Night Elves, first vis Centaurius, and then through Tryande. Indeed, she and Harry will become fast friends eventually, during the time when the Night Elves were in full seclusion, facing

b. Explorer Harry. Harry will be the main character for many chapters as he basically explores Kalimdor from one end to another.  This will let me play with a lot of the different species and places not only in Kalimdor, but beyond.

c. More an addendum and something which must be said. Azeroth is a planet. Therefore it is round. Nuff said.

d. Can’t we all just get along? As stated, harry will travel all over Kalimdor, and may or may not play diplomat. Imagine, if you will, the Tauren becoming allies of the Night Elves against the Centaurs, and what that could mean for the future. Or Harry finding the Naga long before they are ready to make their own appearance. And then there’s the Pandarans. Harry likes a drink as much as the next man after all.

e. Harry the student and the master. Harry will eagerly absorb everything magically speaking he can learn from Tyrande and her her night elves, Centaurius, even the Tauren, Trolls and their shamans. In return he will teach them some of his own magic spells, and runes.

3. Humanity Hell..yeah…? Harry, aged once more down to twelve years old will start to interact with humanity sometime around the Second Orc War, but before that he won’t have had much to do with any of them, even the Kirin Tor of Dalaran, and that is going to set some noses out of joint. He also is going to be very anti-authoritarian, unwilling to be tied down, but willing to lead by example in times of war. That will have him butting heads with literally every king in the alliance at one point or another, to say nothing of the reaction to his apparent youth.

a. He will also be very secretive in terms of who knows about his primary secret.  For most people he will simply be a human mage from across the ocean who has delved into ancient elven magic. Of course, the High Elves will know different, but will have been told to leave him alone.

b. Runic expansion. Runes and their abilities will be something Harry shares freely.

c. The alliance stands. With Harry’s aid, magic and runes craft, the Alliance will have an easier time of the Second War. Alterac though will still betray them, and still need an ass kicking.

d. Scourgify? – the whole death cult thing which starts Arthas’s fall from grace will not happen as they did in canon. There will still be a third war, and there will still be a Lich King, but it might not be Arthas.

e. Tech and magic. I really would like to play around with some steampunk/magic elements. If I can’t try to figure it out in SBH, then I would like to play with it here. Rune powered warjacks, magically infused cannons, and so forth. Of course, this will also bring new problems…

f. In the game, Stormwind becomes, well quite assholish. If the Death Cult and the Scourge rise, then I will have another nation also survive. Stormgaurd perhaps, to offset Wynn and his general level of assholery.   Lordaeron though doesn’t seem to have the kind of natural defenses that could stop a ravening horde of undead. I am uncertain on Gilneas.

g. No purebloods here. In some fanfics and some of the books (apparently, correct me if I’m wrong) but there was a group of humans moving behind the scenes to undermine the other races. Harry might stumble upon this and he will not be pleased. No matter who is a part of it.

h. Natural leader. Like it or not, Harry will attract people, humans, High and Night elves, and he will eventually lead his own band. Not an adventurer’s guild, but a real military company eventually.

4. REAL warfare. I loved the original games and their tongue in cheek humor, but no game can be really equal to the task of showing how war can ravage a land, the toll it takes, and everything else. One major issue the games do is they don’t really show the horde or alliance taking the losses they had to in the War. The Horde should have been utterly broken, but in the lifetime of one leader they are back and just as powerful as ever? The Alliance loses most of it’s nations thanks to the Scourge, but can still be almost cavalier with their armies and fleets? Yes, I know that’s an over-simplification, but even so, I have been displeased by how war is treated in the fics and even the little bit of the books I read.

a. While Harry won’t be leading vast armies, he will be on the frontline of many an important battle, and

5. Harem. Duh. Due to his longevity and the nature of it though, the romance in this fic is going to be very different in comparison to past fics. Some will be very slow to form, others will be very quick, but shortlived.

a. Casual sex. Harry isn’t going to be a prude (not after getting to know the Trolls anyway), and will have realized that the idea of having a permanent, long term lover is not going to happen unless that lover too is immortal. And those races are going to look at him somewhat askance given the nature of his own immortality. So for at least a few lifetimes, Harry isn’t going to find anyone he can really settle down with.

b. Dragons need loving too. A few female dragons will be among the first to think of Harry as something along the lines of a permanent mate. Ysondre is one definite, perhaps her  mother, uncertain. Alexstraza is a definite possibility. She will enjoy the idea of eternal renewal. Having an option other than Malygos as a leader might have Saragosa jumping at the chance and more. Not Onxyia however. All Earth aspect dragons are not going to be friends with Harry. He smells of death to them and no other – Death is not happy with so-called Deathwing and his brats, no sir.

c. Sylvanas Windrunner. They will get to know one another during the Second War, and then again during the rise of the scourge. She will most likely NOT become undead in this fic. This will probably be the quickest relationship to go from friendship to relationship.

d. Jaina Proudmoore. This one will be a struggle, and will most likely start off with a crush, then casual flirting, until Jaina worms her way into Harry’s heart. But to do more than be one of Harry’s sometimes lovers, she will need to find her own key to immortality. What that might be… is up in the air.

e. Tyrande. Another slow one, Tyrande will slowly find herself attracted to Harry despite his human propensity for action and Change. Indeed, that will be a bonus in her books, and after literal thousands of years alone, the idea of moving on is not without merit either. Nor were she and Malfurion actually wed. And lets face it, after winning the girl, leading a rebellion instead of consulting with her or, you know, spending time with Tyrande, he gives himself up to the Emerald Dream for 10,000 years! Even for a night elf, that’s a long darn time.

6. Canon is my plaything. This should be assumed given almost all of my previous works, but it has to be said here considering that, to the best of my knowledge, no fic really seeks to change the history of events prior to the Third War/Scourge era. I do. Oooh you betcha I do.

a. Character deaths. Permanent ones. If Harry kills someone, you better believe their soul is going to be handed straight over to Death, regardless of previous commitments.

b. Character living. Luthor Lives. Hated that one mission where you see him and his party being massacred in Warcraft 2. Going to save him this time around. What all this will change is a mystery right now, but it will occur. To say nothing of the later paladins who died against Arthas.

c. No enslavement of the red dragon flight – with Deathwing having been sent on prior to the orcs arrival, there is no way that even with the ancient Dragon Soul (think it’s the name) that Alexstrasa could be enslaved.

d. No Forsaken. I think that without Sylvanas at the helm, the Forsaken would never have gotten organized, so if the moment of inattention occurs, they would have been wiped out instead of

e. Early Demon sightings. I think the Demons will probably show up in the Second War to ‘aid’ their Horde pawns, bringing in the Night Elves out of seclusion, and causing other trouble everywhere.

i. The Horde altered. With more demonic intervention, Doomhammer’s attempt at a takeover is crushed, and more and more orcs drink the blood of demons.

ii. No thrall? Possible. Depending on how the war ends. Regardless, the orcs will actually have been decimated in the war, rather than merely caged up to come again. That act does not pass the SAN check in the original, and won’t here.

iii. Gul’dan the Dark – he will be a major magical antagonist in the story from the moment he is introduced and on. Prepare for magical horrors to make any human dark lord quail in fear.

f. Medivh resurrected. Another enemy that will try to avoid Death, he will be the first real magical threat Harry will be forced to face, having survived the first war thanks in part to having discovered some of Harry’s rune-based magic and a few of his spells.

g. Old Gods playing new tricks. The naga won’t be the only ancient enemy that makes an early appearance.

Needless to say this seems a bit more haphazard and disjointed than most concepts, and I am not quite happy with Harry’s back story.  But I think it shows where I am going with this idea. Again though, remember that I will not be following up on this until well into the future.  I still felt like sharing it though, what with FILFy still not showing up online.

I really hope you'll add Thrall to the story, because he's literally the only Orc I can see being able to save his race... and as for the orc's fate after the war: in the books it's heavilly implied if not outright said that they suffered horrible losses after their defeat. Their numbers were around or slightly below the numbers of the refugees Jaina led when before they were the majority of their race.

Honestly, this sounds extremely intriguing. I'm not very knowledgeable about WoW since I tend to avoid most of the social aspects MMO games, but your story idea does interest me.

Big Pat

Not a huge Harry Potter fan here mostly for Ranma stories, but I got FILFY to work by going back a chapter in the web address and then just clicking next on the chapter screen

Robert Robertson

well this could be good and if you want some background infomration from WOW feel free to drop me a line and I'll be welling to help out if I able. otherwise keep up the good work and try not to take on to much.

Justin Sully

Huge fan of both of these, so all the way yes. right in my face lol.

Gune

Would love to see this, Theres only a few worthy Hp/Wow fics and i think plum has 2 of them. Its been years since i touched wc1/2/3 lore but been a wow player on/off last 12 years so happy to help with any of that lore if needed.

Bryan Hayden

Sounds awesome, would love to see this develop

TheLazyShadow

This sound like a great story, I’m glad your not going the gamer route for this one as I feel WOW crossovers are far better without it and I’m also getting some big number 5(Umbrella Academy) vibes from young looking Harry :D. Would love to read this.

JustDK

HP... WOW... say no further, I'm convinced this will be your best story yet if it was done. In regards to the Casual Sex, it would be massively entertaining if he accidentally got some royalty pregnant and his lineage births the famous human wow characters. Could be a reason to draw him back into the fight if we are going to do huge time skips.

frank schellingerhout

will be good to see a hp/wow story hope you will write it and yea ff.net is a pain ever thought about questionable questing forum/site as posting ?

Delphinous

i think this sounds interesting, but might be challenging to make feel cohesive rather than a series of jumpskips, oneshots, and short stories. but i'd definitely read it

Elderlucian

HP and WoW are 2 of me favorite things so im all for this whenever it happens

Tellemicus Sundance

Oooooh! Like with most of your ideas, this sounds REALLY cool!! As long as you write it AFTER Heroes of the High Seas, I'll be happy. ;p

Bantaa

Really like this idea!!

Razgriz0x

I concur. Heroes of the High Seas could easily become a new Long fic. Hopefully we'll vote out way to seeing you finish 2 Long fics within a year of each other.

Razgriz0x

Love the concept for this. And yes, 2 of the very few Good HP/WOW fics belong to Plums. I would say that one doesn't need to play WOW to understand the lore. Best to find someone who knows the lore well and consult for potential ideas and continuity. If Jaina pursues Harry, what will Arthas be like? One of the key reasons he fell from grace was his obsession with Jaina and his jealousy of her spending time with other men. Sylvanus not undead? Will she pursue the trail of her sister? Will Harry help her do so? Agree that Dragons need lovin too. Alexstraza was useless/broken after her capture and trauma. So yes. Something to look forward to seeing eventually. Thanks for sharing!

Tomon

I like Warcraft, so a well done story with Harry Potter being the main character sure sounds promising. That being said, while I have no issue with you changing the canon, I think it's important to give reasoning for such changes. Not let them just appear, especially due to lack of knowledge. While it's gonna take a long time, just some minor points I had during reading :) What exact timeframe you plan to drop Harry into? For example as compared to the War of the Ancients (first demon invasion to Azeroth)? Because that's very important for the second point. Night Elves + issue with magic. They as a race decided to stop using arcane and converted to druid and life/nature magic. These who couldn't agree with it, left the Kalimdor and traveled to the Easter Kingdoms, to later change into the High Elves. They're hiding their arcane magic behind wards as to not let the demons find Azeroth again. Which is also the major reason why Night Elves stopped being a Arcane casters. Magic system vs shamanism vs druidism. It's quite a different things. While I don't have issue with Harry actually learning more than just arcane or elemental magic. Especially the Nature could be nice for him to have. I wonder about shaman abilities as they channel via Elementals who kinda have to agree with to lend their power. Anyway it's three very different style of 'magic'. Cenarius is also not part of the Night Elf race. He is a demigod who protects the wild and the teacher to the first Night Elf druid - Malfurion. Later when they converted wholy to the way of Nature, his relationship with them grown of course -> so again, depends on when will Harry arrives in the timeline. High Elves being told to left Harry alone by who? They're not communicating with Night Elves and Dragon are pretty secretive nor I'm sure they would listen anyway. Kirin Tor? You kinda yourself said that Harry will meet with this faction later on. Tyrande - honestly, while I agree that being left alone by Malfurion for freaking 10 000 years is kinda crazy... I also think you underestimate their relationship. And Harry doesn't need to get every female that is mentioned in the lore :-D At best I would let her question her dedication due to loneliness. Maybe even going so far as to wake up Malfurion just because 'I'm lonely, can you spend a year with me for a change?! Or do you prefer to put on different kind of horns" :-D Also this way you could let Shandris fall for Harry instead. That would be also something new for Tyrande with her adopted daughter pursuing some human mage :-D Scourge devastated Lordaeron, which is only one of the humans kingdoms. Then they also stormed Dalaran which is just South of the mentioned Lordaeron. Early demon sighting - be careful with how they get to Azeroth. There needs to be a reason why can't they summon more of their kind. And the major missing point given how many others you mentioned. Let Harry find Aegwynn, they would get along famously given their attitude towards authority and self-important individuals :-D And there is so much more to them. Honestly I kinda expected her to be Harry's major life-mate :) Especially if he manages to give her life a new meaning. And through her he can find out many of the most important secret and plotlines as well.

GamerontheBeach27

Neat ideas. I've never played WoW myself so I'll be interested in this although I won't have any idea on references. Have you ever thought of a HP/FFXIV story?

FateBurn

sounds like a good story to me, go ahead with it.

Narsil

I've been falling behind on your stories, there's just too much and real life keeps getting in the way! Still, THIS one I would definitely follow--there have been some excellent Harry Potter/WoW crossovers that I've enjoyed immensely, I'd like to see what you could do. The one teensy problem I would have is the lack of Harry Potter's supporting cast joining in the fun. With Harry immortal and (eventually) ancient I understand why that would be difficult, but my favorites have had at least some along for the ride.

GamerontheBeach27

that's fair. its another mmorpg with a lot of adventure and story. i've been thinking of writing a hp/ffxiv crossover myself but i'm nowhere close to as good a writer as you are. i'm looking forward to this story, it might get me to try WoW

vimesenthusiast

I was thinking more little draklings really. The dragons are going to be the first to pounce on Ranma for more than a frolic.

vimesenthusiast

Eh, I don't know I would say it was a key reason behind his fall. Unless that is mentioned in the books? I got the impression he was a bit controlling, but really it was his own ego, arrogance and then, finally the touch of the Lich King's blade, Frostmourne which led to his fall. Sylcanus not being undead - in canon she did not do so - if you're talking about her older sister anyway. The younger one, maybe. Can't remember her much. And yes, the dragons are going to be more prominent in this fic.

Friendly Neighborhood Eldritch Horror

I like the idea of having a Harry Potter crossover with WoW written by you. One thing I'd suggest you keep in mind though, is that Harry isn't going to find out about everything in time without it looking too contrived and can't be in more than one place at once, and if you want him to be somewhat reclusive, he can't be involved in quite as much as you indicate in this post. I'd suggest reducing the amount of non-Death-involved things he gets directly involved in early on, focusing in on stuff related to Deathwing, and maybe something involving some of the Loa and some early Old Gods activity that might encroach on Death's territory, as well as perhaps stuff up in Northrend, while largely being uninvolved in stuff related to WC1 and WC2, other than side effects of what he's done elsewhere, like messing up the Deathwing thing such that the Orcs fail to enslave the Red Dragonflight, and Harry might only turn up and get more involved in the second war when he senses perhaps the Orcs turning more to necromancy to make up for the lack of dragons to be the counterforce to alliance griffin riders, and he starts focusing down on the Orc Shamans and Death Knights and such who employ necromancy, possibly with the aid of some dragons, rather than directly working with the Alliance very much (although he might try early on, attempts to order him around and turn him away from his main objectives would likely quickly sour him on the idea). He'd likely leave a way to contact him (like two-way mirrors) to the Paladins and Elves, through friends he makes who are important enough to ignore orders to abuse such contact methods, with careful restrictions suggested on it's use, but not to various leaders he doesn't trust with such, although he might also leave some other races' heroes some mirrors as well, like maybe one of the dwarves. In the aftermath, he'd probably verbally oppose but not really fight against extermination or concentration camping of the orcs (partly due to how demonically corrupted most of them are) but be making sure to stamp out any necromancy practice or knowledge from those camps and any bands he can track down that escaped into the wilds, or dealing with any necromancy taught to the trolls or copied by them, or attempts at larger scale necromancy practice by a budding secret scourge build up prior to WC3, which would lead him to the original Lich King and various demons and such and exiled Kirin Tor members and such, stopping the Cult early, because they wouldn't be able to hide large numbers of necromancy practitioners developing from him, or attempts to corrupt significant enough food sources to transform a large number of people or corrupt major graveyards or the like without drawing his attention. These activities would likely lead to demonic assasination attempts and ambushes, and eventually to the demons working on a different, non-undead focused route when that fails, so that he can't as easily track them and fight against their activities. I'd also suggest keeping in mind if Harry lets anyone know about the ressurection stone's ability to call up shades to ask questions of, which could prove major plot points and to derail some badguy plots by finding out secrets that they thought hidden by killing those who knew. I'd also consider having Harry find a way through the portal to the Orc homeworld around the time of the second war, making sure he has his own way to get there and back in order to stomp out necromancy on the other side as well, and meet any potential non-necromancy focused survivors there that might ally with him. (maybe he'd do it with portkeys, but that the ride would be so rough due to the distances involved only he would survive with his phoenix-like self-revives, so he can't take anyone with him and has to grow up again or operate as a kid for a while after the trips) Some stuff, of course, he could get involved in at weird times and regardless of his normal location at the time, due to a certain dragonflight if it's important enough... Before you get started on such a fic though, I'd like to hear what you'd do for a Ranma crossover with WoW, as Ranma would be more limited in his influence compared to Harry due to transportation issues where Harry can just apparate or portkey around, but I could see that leading Ranma to get more involved in what he stumbles into, and the setting being more of a challenge morally to Ranma as to what to do in various situations, which could make good opportunities for interesting character growth on Ranma's part, although there is the question of where and when to put Ranma initially and how Ranma ends up on Azeroth... Perhaps some foolish ice mage from Dalaran looking to find a particularly devastating counter to a rival fire mage's phoenix comes up with a wonky ritual that initially just calls up Ranma's astral form or something (Ranma qualifying for their questionable targeting methods due to having defeated Saffron) and gets some vague advice once they work out translation magic related to using cold mystical energies to fight with against hot (Ranma find the forced astral projection weird, and wants to get it over with and get released by the idiot mage, and uses insights from the Hiryuu Shoten Ha related stuff to advise them), but they decide later on to outright summon Ranma, not realizing how distant Ranma is, and failing their early attempts, due one tied to a decent power source as well as their life force, and wind up draining themselves and the artifact to death in what winds up being a one-way summon, leaving Ranma stranded in Dalaran on Azeroth, and the locals aren't wiling, nor is Ranma willing, to sacrifice people for the power to send him back, even if there wasn't serious targeting issues without having help from a trustworthy competent mage on the other side, and the best they can do is the forced astral projection thing to let Ranma say some goodbyes to people he trusts from his world that they can work out targeting variables and restrictions for with Ranma's help (okonomiyaki and links to Ranma and cross dressing for Ukyo perhaps as an example, links to Ranma, laziness, and a Panda related thing perhaps for Genma, Ranma's girl form and a parent-child pair with a mother involved of mages for focusing a call to Ranma's mother, etc.) but they are limited in how much they're willing to help with this just to make up for Ranma's summoning by one of their members, so it's a one-time thing. Later on, I could see an enemy mage who had had trouble due to Ranma and got their hands on related research info creating a ritual to summon a more powerful enemy of Ranma with skills to counter Ranma's own, and end up with Herb at the cost of sacrificing a bunch of civilian captives, but fail to effectively bind them to follow their orders, leaving Herb also trapped on Azeroth, and harrasing Ranma a bit regarding his involvement only to find out Ranma was also an unwilling victim of stupid mages, although unlike Ranma they might be willing to arrange a sacrifice to return, they'd also be smart enough not to work with any of the mages they could locate who would be willing to do that, so occasionally find the chance to take their frustrations out on Ranma (not admitting that he's also the closest thing they've found to a decent sparring partner in more normal martial arts battle around here, at least until Padaren stuff opens up). Ranma at some point will be traumatized by too many Padaren, because of how it makes him think of being surrounded by Genma's in panda form or that stupid panda scribble thing, with disjointed explainations possibly leading some people to think Ranma was adopted by a Pandaren at some point... Hmm... actually, perhaps you could have this be your first crossover with BOTH Ranma and Harry, and let Ranma get involved in some stuff Harry doesn't and have them meet at some point later on?

Well One thing it will mean for you is that you may very well nearly stay canon, considering that blizzard itself does not even know how their canon is supposed to go mostly. But yeah sound very interesting, and I would say even if Harry will be more of a recluse, and just involve himself in between sometime. considering you could choose a time even before the War of the Ancients and the Sundering 10000 BDP, yeah even if he is a recluse for more than 3/4 of his time, he could still involve himself for some hundred years and consider it just a short break from beiing a recluse.( WC1-3 plays in only 25-45 years or so)

On timeline, I would say perhaps about two, maybe three thousand years before the birth of Medivh. I realize that the Night Elves only use nature magic/life magic, however I haven't seen anything that implies they look down on human wizards for using Arcana. And since Harry is going to be melded to the Cloak of Invisibility, he can't be found by any who would wish him harm - that includes demons on other planes. Harry will become very much a Storm Lord. He's going to contract with a Air Lord level Elemental, through which he can use Shaman-style powers. Druid however will be the first area of interest. His care, interest in, and most especially his sheer delight in the forest (and a meeting with a few of his sons and daughters) will draw Cenaurius's interest to him. And yes, I know he's a demigod. Hence why they will be such good friends. Honestly, Canaurius might become a semi-elder sibling figure to Harry. Given the life he's led one of those could be a good idea. Tyrande will not come quickly to being in love with Harry. Harry will initially be a curiosity, then a delightful amusement and a fellow friend of Cenaurius. After several of Harry's lifetime, she will become used to his ways, and he will become a friend and ally, as well as a sometimes agent into the outside. - he'll be forging an alliance between the Night Elves and Tauren. When she realizes that her friendship is starting to turn into romantic feelings - mainly because Harry flirst with her occasionally and looks at her as a woman as well as a leader - then yes, she will attempt to wake Malfurion from the Green Dream. Harry will already have helped there, freeing the four Green Dragons from their Taint, maybe even meeting the Green Aspect. But regardless, Malfurion will still be in the Green Dream. Tyrande will wake him up, shout at him a bit for leaving her, and say "Give me Romance for at least a hundred years or else!!" Malfurion may refuse, I am uncertain, but regardless, he will not honestly see the problem as she does, and that's going to cause other issues. I will say now that while they will have the longest interaction of any of the female characters, Tyrande will become Harry's lover well after the others. It is going to be a SLOW courtship, with a lot of different issues. Alexstrasa is going to be the one to tell the elves to mind thier own business. By that point, she and Harry will be lovers - the on again, best friends with benefits type - and the Red Flight, the Green Flight, the Blue Flight and even the Bronze Flight will like Harry. Dragon catnip, I said, dragon catnip I meant. Even the guy dragons of those flights - Wrathion is going to be his best guy-type friend beyond Cenaurius - will like Harry. the Elves are not going to want to fuck with him once that comes out. Even Dalaran and the Kirin Tor won't. the scourge devastated the entire so-called Eastern continent (I cannot find a version of the WoW map that takes into account the fact it's a freaking globe man). That included every nation of man, including Stormwind. But Quel'thalas wasn't the only place that had natural defenses. Early demon sightings - - yep, I know. They won't be able to come straight through, and can only send in lesser demons for a time, but they will far more heavily influence the Horde. The Orcs are going to have to be decimated in turn before they can possibly be redeemed afterward. The trolls... not certain about them. The Kalimdor trolls will be left alone for the most part, Harry will even have friends among them, but the ones who joined with the Horde right off the bat in the Second War might be wiped out. Aegywnn - I think they would meet, yes, but I do not think she is someone Harry would trust with his immortal/renewal secret. She goes through a very arrogant/paranoid, holier than thou 'for the greater good' type frame of mind. Yes, she's anti-authoritarian, but she too is also a person OF authority. And then there's her whole reason behind getting pregnant and so forth. So while they will be colleagues, by the time she learns of his secret, Harry might not like her very much. HOWEVER, romance is something I tend to play by ear. The whole Nami thing in Stallion, Ranma only being involved with Shaak, Hela becoming a love interest, Akeno and Harry taking a break before getting back together. So who knows. I won't set anything in stone for a fic that is perhaps more than a year in the future. Early Demon sighting -

This has been done before, but those are some of my all-time favorite fics. I especially like the strategic impact of distributing foreign knowledge-based abilities, both in them and in your fics. I'd love this idea.

Okay, that's around the time when the former concept of Spearhead was reworked into the Guadian. Still definitely before the last two Guardians time. Well, Night elves looked down upon anything coming outside their forest at that time :-D And part of their society had to choose exile as they wouldn't be allowed to keep their arcane practise (but that was at the beginning of the Nature Night elf society as we know it). Cloak of Invisibility can hide Harry but the issue is the magic he is using. Still it's not like one or even several spell could be felt. We are talking about freely using well of eternity and magic on this scope :) Or a society that is fully immersed in arcane and is using it openly a lot. Btw, what about Shadowlands? That would affect a LOT. Especially with Harry having Death behind him :) Anyway him and Cenarius is definitely possible and I even can see learning some Nature abilities :) The Storm Lord sounds cool but needs to be handled well. I don't think Malfurion wouldn't see the issue. But he can definitely prioritize the issue of the whole planet/realm. But.. that's kinda what Tyrande understands so well. Still there are a lot of others factors as well. But slow courtship... Well, how would friendship spanning thousand of years evolve into love? There is slow courtship, and there is this ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Dragonflights at that time could be actually on the recess, and sort of hiding in the Northrend. Again the timeline is very important here, but honestly there might be a real lack of reason why would the High elves actually listen to dragons... Especially if it's in the latest 1000 years before the first war and after the dragons were hunted by demons and weakened further. The even where Aegwynn fought Sargeras (hint hint :-D ) Before that? More possible but still wary of this aspect. But it's plausible that the elves would leave it alone rather than invite whole dragonflight(s) anger. And Wrathion is going to be his good friend? :) I like that. Especially after you said that Harry will be liked by all but Black Dragonflight. In that case there is also a 'Highmountain Tauren' that could interest you ;) (Spiritwalker Ebonhorn) Later on with the Dalaran I don't see that big of a issue as some High Councilor of Dalaran are dragons in disguise :-) But this could maybe be done even for the elfs... Ugh, how I hate that they made trolls into one of the first races... Or to be more precise -> elven ancestors /barf So feel free to genocide right away :-D (or even retcon this sh*t) Eh? Person of authority being an issue? Uh... Tyrande - leader of a whole race. Race that looks down on the majority of others. Alexstrasza - queen of dragons. Leader of a whole dragonflight and nominal leader of all dragons more often than not. Sylvanas - Ranger General Jaina - Major leader or prominal figure, depends on the timeline but at least one of the most promising mages and a princess of a human nation. And I can go on :-D Aegywnn didn't trust the council and sadly for a very good reason. But upon doing her job very well she grew a little arrogant to some extent. Being tricked by Sargeras, well he did it to all others titans as well. She was capable of working with dragons, she even accepted that fact she needs a heir. I really don't see the holier than thou attitude. She always served as a protector and given what she faced she was doing excellent job. And she and Harry are very similar. Anyway, it's all in the future. We can always talk more later when you want to ;)

I've seen several fics like this before and amazingly most of them have been done well. I have never played any of the warcraft games but the universe is fascinating. I would love to see what you do with such a large universe as your plaything. I have not seen Harry put into this universe before anything has happened so it would be interesting to see how you distract him from main events that you think should still happen but that he would interrupt.
