Have you ever had a day where you just… want to scream? That was yesterday for me. I was on a role, first went through 9,000 words that I’d written on dragon Naturally speaking? Added all the missing “” comas, periods, changed sentences, all that. Then I went on, writing out more, adding something like six thousand words for Stallion, enough that I should have been finishing the chapter today at around 25,000 words. But when I get back to it later that night, after powering up my laptop, my Microsoft Office 365 opens that document automatically… which it shouldn’t have. And then I see that it didn’t save! Like I had saved before I had begun to write out the new stuff, but none of the automatic saves had gone through for some reason, nor had the last time I had saved myself. I DO NOT GET IT.

And yes, I used both bold and then caps. Because I am still that annoyed by it.

I hit save. I saw it say, 'saving please wait' for a brief second, then 'saved to this PC'. It didn’t. Nor did any of the automatic saves. I have it set up to save every five minutes. None of them did. The recovery files folder is empty. I DO NOT GET IT. Nor could I find any tmp files anywhere. I was so fucking frustrated I screamed and just walked away the rest of the night.

So instead of working on a few responses (sorry Beleriond) and separating my questions into spoilers – which I would save with only a few people via email or pm – and public ones and then Grammarlying the fuck out of Stallion, I spent all day today  writing out the same shit I did yesterday. And the problem is, I think the humor is worse this time around, and I just… doing that kills my willpower man. I don’t like it.

Anyway, several days after I had hoped to have some questions up for you all to ponder, here they are. A few of these are really general questions, so I will understand if I don’t get responses to them, but a few are specific.

First the general questions:

1. Romance. What kind of fic do you guys prefer: fics where couples get together and become serious right off the bat, or fics where there’s a lot of flirting, buildup and only near the end do they really get together? I’m honestly curious, since in most of my fics, I am very clear about who will get with who right off the bat, but after that each fic differs in how the romance goes, primarily because I let the romance portion of my fics write themselves. I’ve tried to force it a time or two, but, well, see below. But I am wondering if people like the fast romance version or the slow buildup. Or even not knowing who will get with who right up until the end?

2. Okay, so this one is going to take a bit to explain. So I was rereading Making Waves recently, and I came to the conclusion I kind of… didn’t like some aspects of the fic.

I feel some of the romance was forced, badly. Mira dropping her interest so quickly and Jenny overall. Don’t get me wrong, I like Jenny and the changes I made. Similarly, I like what I did with Bisca, I feel that felt natural, very teen/college age romance type stuff, and it will let me have Azuka show up soon. But I think I could have just made Jenny a great friend and the first fling for Ranma, and then have Mira remain. I just didn’t because I made the decision to not go down the very rehashed Erza/Mira/OC thing.  Similarly, while I like Juvia’s romance, it feels like it was too fast.

There are other examples. Better proofreading from the start. Having Ranma be challenged and maybe lose fights early on. The whole Ranger angle REALLY began to feel forced after a time. Less of the fix-everything feel to it. I kind of want to also change the Gajeel/Levy thing. And, a big one, how I treated Natsu and Grey. Natsu grew on me, but Grey… I horrendously underused that character. More time in the guild, maybe having Ranma join up and leave the rangers after the Tower of Heaven stuff.  Or better yet, have Fairy Tail operating everywhere instead of just in Fiore, and then having Ranma and Wendy meet Erza or Mira or the rest earlier, then having some adventures before canon with them.

So, yeah, lots of things I think I could have done better, or done differently.  So my question is: when Making Waves is done, would anyone like to see me dive into this world again? Maybe just in the form of a story outline?

Note I am not asking if you would want to see that over one of the other fics I have waiting in the wings. I am just wondering in the long term… and if other people see the same issues I do, or if I’m being overly critical of the story.

3. This is not the first time I have asked this question, but with Horse and ATP both so close to being finished, I feel it prudent to bring it up again. Instead of breaking my fics into small and large story polls (large story polls will return after at least one of the above stories are done) should I break them up by fandoms: have 1 HP, 1 Ranma and 1 Patreon only both plus, hopefully, Heroes of the High Seas? I realize then it would put keeping the chapters relatively even would then be up to me, but I still feel like I want to give both my Ranma and Harry fans at least one fic per month without abusing my votes.

4. I haven’t ever gotten into Wattpad for one reason or another. Is it worth it – not in terms of posting my stuff there, but in terms of new stuff being posted there instead of on AO3 or fanfic? Specifically, I would really like some marvel/HP works to read that I haven’t already found to help my floundering muse for ATP. I must push on but the muse is weak…

5. This is a curiosity question: which kind of worlds do you all prefer to read about, sci-fi or fantasy? I have brought Ranma into space twice, and Harry once, but there are several fandoms I could cross them over with or explore in sci-fi that I have had some thoughts on. Similarly, I have had other thoughts about sending Ranma back in time into the time of Warring States or the Three Kingdoms eras

Please note, the above question isn’t asking because I am thinking of introducing new outlines or anything, I am just curious. The only fic this question could have any direct bearing on is my DC/Ranma cross when I get back to it.

And now onto a few fic specific questions:

First, since it’s in my mind, Making Waves.

1. What gender should Erza’s kid be? I’ve asked this question of a few of my beta reader’s but I am still up in the air about it.

2. This is a minor one, but who should replace Makarov as Guild Master? I don’t think it should be Erza – she’ll be far too busy, or Mira, but it can’t be Gildarts either. Laxus is still too much of an ass. So who among those left behind would be able to step up to the plate?

3. What should I do about Sting and the rest of Sabertooth. With the Master dead and Minerva serving Hisui, I am kind of at a loss as to if Sabertooth should even exist.

More minor questions like that for Bhaalson Remodel:

1. While I know I’ve made fun of it several times up to this point, should I have Harry’s Gamer system be able to break class specific restrictions? I don’t mean other characters learning magic or anything, I mean restrictions like what kind of weapons and armor characters can use as well as how good they can get with their various weapons. I have already messed with this a bit in terms of how good characters can get – paladins would normally be restricted to only two proficiency points per weapon class.  So I am wondering if I should extend that, or just remove some of these restrictions as they make no sense.

2. Would having Harry try to pick up rune-craft and smithing be too much on top of everything else? Personally I think it would make this Harry too much like Fate Harry, but I would be interested in what people think.

3. One thing that I absolutely loved with BG2 and Throne of Bhaal was some of the special weapons that you could not only find, but then UPGRADE. Cespenar for the win, baby! I have laid the foundation of at least one upgradeable weapon already, but I am wondering if I should bring in more such things, and if people would be interested in that sort of thing. And if so, how I should introduce it, what character could offer it, etc.  I don't want to just use the Thunderhammer Smithy for that kind of thing.

And two questions for Stallion of the line:

1. The One Piece Movie Red. I haven’t watched it or Stampede, I was burned badly by Z and Gold, hated them both. But I have heard good things about this, and I know the main antagonist is supposedly the daughter of Shanks. So… should I include her and some of the other characters from it?

2. Similarly, Stampede’s main antagonist is Douglas Bullet, who at this point is imprisoned in Impel Down. Should I introduce him as a future enemy or not? Is he interesting enough?

I'm suprised by your views on Making Waves. As a reader who read it half a dozen times, I really love what you did with the romance aspect. Erza was done incredibly well. better than any other Erza romance i've seen before. Jenny was brought to life in the story, and it inspired me to use her character more in fics i wanted to write. I really love her pairing here. Juvia is the one that least interests me, but with the whole water theme, it just works far too well. Especially if she learns the type of water martial arts we talked about in the past. Mira would have been fun, but I don't think it was all that forced how turned off she became. She's not a sharing kinda gal, and thats fine. I was thinking you would set her up with Laxus, and Make Laxus the guild master as he has shown tons of growth from his canon counterpart. Sometimes people have responsibility thrust on them, and they have to step up to handle it. Laxus seems like that kinda guy to me. As for the ranger stuff, i didn't feel it was overdone at all. Just the fact that you showed him killing slavers made me love the story all that much more. Because it cut through the comedic elements of the world and showed real action instead of friendship bullshit. You're welcome to do as you wish, but i really hope you don't rewrite the story and finish it as is. It's my favorite Fairy Tail story on Fanfiction, webnovel, QuestionableQuesting, SpaceBattles, and RoyalRoad. I'd personally support another dozen chapters of just exploring the wilds of the continent and the magical potential there.

"More minor questions like that for Bhaalson Remodel..." All these are just my thoughts: #1 - Personally, I think it would be MORE consistent for his system to break class restrictions... at least for him. Up to you if you wanted to remove things altogether for the other characters, but for Harry it's the same as his inventory manipulation - he can already do things that others can't with it, and it makes sense because he has an "odd" version of the game relative to everyone else. #2 - Is he interested in either? Or, perhaps related - is the god he's going to potentially join interested in either? I could see this Harry being interested in crafting, making better armor to shield his fellows (and perhaps related to the breaking restrictions question), etc. #3 - Items could be introduced in a million ways: quests, discovered treasure, loot, etc. I don't really have an opinion one way or the other though I'd think upgradeable weapons would be fun.

Don't really have answers to the first couple questions but for the others. Making Waves 1: I honestly don't have an opinion on this one so do as please. 2: Guild Master, honestly I think Laxus is your only real choice, he is the only one strong enough that has the actual desire and drive to be guild master, yes he will definitely make mistakes but that could help him grow, him being guild master could make or break him, and I think it could be interesting either way. 3: Wasn't one of the big reasons Sabertooth was able to come into it's own because Fairy Tail's main crew disappeared for 7 years, with them still around would the people that became Sabertooth even still go to the guild, wouldn't both Sting and Rogue both check out Fairy Tail first looking for Natsu and Gajeel for example? So in answer I don't think Sabertooth needs to exist but I also think the characters still have potential as members of other guild or even future enemy groups for some of them. Don't read Bhaalson Remodel and never played BG1, 2, or expansions so I don't really have opinions here. Stallion of the Line 1: I haven't watched these movies either, I do wanna watch Red though, personally I think Uta has a bit of potential, she did show up on some cover shots so she is canon, I think, but maybe doing things different then what she did in the movie. I don't think you've ever made a character I truly hated so I say look them up see if you like them and go from there. 2: No real opinion haven't seen the movie.

yay, lots of fun questions to answer. also, sorry to hear you had those technical problems, i hate computer issues that don't make sense. general questions: 1. i prefer romance fics where the main couple gets started fairly quickly, i really dislike the fics where the author teases 'maybe this one, or that one' forever and then only late on is the main pairing revealed, but once the romance has gotten started, i prefer a slow but steady growth, rather than a sprint to the finish line. This is based on my personal preferences and understanding of relationships, because to the best of my knowledge and experience, a slow growth that gives time to build friendship and respect as well as romance and lust builds a solid foundation as well as the romantic structure on top, but people who just go straight to sex don't build the depth they need and the relationship goes stale and falls apart when put under stress because it has no basis. occasionally your romances feel a bit fast, but for the most part i've like their pacing. 2. I will admit, making waves is one of my least favorite fics to reread, mostly for many of the reasons you mentioned. while it's not particularly strong in any of your fics, in making waves the 'hand of god/author directing the story' is felt, as opposed to it feeling like the plot is naturally flowing. It's not all the time, there are some sections that are great, but others that felt a bit more forced than others, and the ranger thing was one of them. it's a relatively common and overused trope to have the outsider be given sudden power an authority far above what many trusted lieutenants to the rulers have. you can see it even in things like Dragon Age origins, where hte main character is basically the newest grey warden, but they are also in charge of building and commanding a multi-racial alliance to fight a demonic horde during their first week on the job. IT's a great story, but honestly the sudden amount of power and authority just doesn't make sense, and your ranger for ranma had a lot of the same feel to it. it's fun, it's useful for story purposes, and when you stop and look at it closely, it just doesn't hold up to reality of how people would actually operate in similar circumstances. overall, i don't think making waves NEEDS a reboot, but i do think it might benefit from it. It might turn from a B to an A, but it's definitely not bad, it's just not as polished as most of your stories. although some of that is the illogic and inconsistencies of the setting you are in making your life more difficult. 3. I don't mind if you switch over to a HP, Ranma, patreon poll style 4. never got into wattapad, sorry. i have recently found and enjoyed harry potter and the infinity stones, a good HP/Marvel cross that is doing a pretty decent job of adapting HP to fit into the marvel universe if you haven't read it yet https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13929672/1/ 5. My preferecens is for character driven stories, rather than world driven stories. Sci-Fi can be like star wars, where the people are still doing most of the things, or they can be a harder sci fi where it's mostly fleets and technology and nations and less focus on individuals, and while i enjoy those from time to time, i prefer the softer sci fi and science fantasy most of the time. (just a plug for one of my favorite science fantasy stories, please read The Starships Mage by Glynn Stewart, it's literally a sci-fi system where interplanetary space travel requires magic instead of technology to work, it's glorious) Overall, i enjoy a more low-science sci fi where it's near future, or a high fantasy where there is advanced civilizations everywhere with lots of magic. this is because it would give lots of good interactions for the characters, with harry/ranma having to learn slightly advanced tech, or having a lot of magic they don't understand to contend with to keep things interesting. harry/ranma in the witcher universe, as a contrast, would be boring, because magic is so small that ranma/harry would steamroll everything and you'd have to go out of your way to justify them having much difficulty at all. for Ranma going back in time, i would find it interesting only if it was a 'magic lost through time' kind of a setting where there are lots of high powered ki warriors going about there business, rather than a more historical 'nobody has any powers' where he'd be god/warlord, if that makes sense. As for harry in space, those stories are rare (excepting star wards crossovers) but can be a tone of fun. There aren't many good ones, but the starship hedwig type of 'use magic to mimic sci-fi space tech to escape the cataclysm of earth' are some of my favorite stories of all time. Makings Waves: 1. no preference, sorry 2. I wonder if Gajeel would do well as a guild master 3. i'm not terribly interested in sabertooth, so i'm fine if they just don't really exist Bhaalson: 1. i don't mind harry being able to break standard class restrictions, but i'd enjoy it if it came at a cost, sort of like how him using his magic costs his health, i want him to have to pay for the privilege in some way. but i also don't want him to be perfectly flexible, it's somewhat interesting forcing him to work within the system in a clever way instead of just breaking it. like maybe he shouldn't be proficient with a katana, but if he convinces himself it's just another sword and uses it like a sword so he gets sword benefits instead of katana benefits, but occasionally has trouble because a sword is better for blocking than a katana is, which is better for slashing than a sword, and less effective at thrusting, so it would sometime punish him for not having the correct training/proficiency 2. it would make harry be too much, he's already pushing the boundaries of how much BS he can be. however, that being said, Tonks isn't nearly as BS as harry, so SHE might be better suited to doing some runecrafting instead. As for comparisons to Fate, i feel like in Fate, harry is trying to stay true to his past and adapt it to fit into his present, while Bhaalson harry is embracing the new world wholeheartedly and would be more inclined to learn how to better operate within the worlds ruleset as opposed to Fate harry who would be more inclined to figure out ways to bring his old worldset into his current one. so yes, giving specifically baalson harry a similar runecrafting ability would make him more like fate harry 3. I also adored the treasure hunt of finding parts of legendary weapons and bringing them together into a badass weapon. And i think you should take a 'flail of the ages' approach, in that most of the legendary weapons need something specific to forge them back together. Maybe they need to go to the origin point and reforge it at the same legendary location. maybe they need to recreate the original ritual and sacrifice. maybe it just needs to find a worth wielder and it will magically repair itself. I feel like each weapons should have some sort of a thematic requirement to the upgrade beyond the parts, like for example, upgrading carsomyr from +5 to +6 should require a paladin, the approval of his chosen deity, at the altar in a temple of said deity, and probably some permanent cost like one of every daily spell the paladin gets, in addition to needing the eye of tyr. i do think that Crom Feyr should still be done at the thunderhammer smithy though, that seems to be it's thematic location. Stallion of the line: you've gone past my experiences with One piece, so sorry i cannot offer you good advice about the characters you're asking about.

Jeffrey Smith

I’d like to go to a Ranma HP Patreon style. Also I’m generally a fan on the romance question settled early. They don’t have to be intimate right away, but in a relationship is good.

Scott

General: 1. I like it better when they get together quickly. Ironically when I read this question I actually had Making Waves in mind as an example as to why because I did not like the romance in that fic at all. It’s not even about how quickly they get together, it’s more that I think you do a better job when you’ve got the romance planned out from the beginning. In MW, it felt like you kept changing your mind about it, which came off very weird in the actual story. 2. For the record, I love Making Waves. I think that there are a lot of things that you did really well in that story (the world building was exceptional), and it has two of my all-time favorite Vimes combat scenes (Oracion Seis and Tartarus Arcs). That said, I have felt for a while that it was also your most flawed story among the ones I’ve read (I’ve read most of them). For a while now I’ve been thinking of rereading the story and doing a serious review of it once it was finished, to try to point out several of the things that I think could have been done better, so I found it really interesting that you brought it up unprompted like this. The romance was definitely my biggest issue here, for some of the reasons that you mentioned (and some that you didn’t) but it wasn’t my only one. What I had in mind would probably have more text than I really want to write here, but if you're interested I could probably do it without dong too much rereading. Anyways, to address your actual question, yes, I would love to see you dive into the world again, as I think it has a ton of potential. 5. I prefer Fantasy > Time Travel > Sci Fi. I’m not a huge fans of space combat. I don’t hate it, and I think you’ve done an excellent job of it in your Star Wars stories, it’s not really my thing. Making Waves 2. Didn’t Makarov already announce that Laxus was his successor? I went back and looked it up, and he made the decision in chapter 31. I actually think he was a good choice for the position. At least in your version, not so much in canon. 3. I don’t really see the point of introducing Sabertooth. They only really existed in canon to provide an original antagonist for the grand magic games, but without the 7-year time skip it seems kind of pointless. I would just have them join existing guilds. Given how close the story is to completion, I don’t think it’s all that important anyways. Bhaalson 1. I have no problem with you removing the restrictions. One of the problems with video game fanfics can be that the author tries to hold too close to the game, when a story needs to be more flexible. In this case, the game characters are meant to be actual people, and giving them restrictions like that makes them feel less real. 2. I love the idea of adding rune crafting here. I have no problem if he’s similar to Fate Harry, because the world they are in is completely different which makes the story different. Ranma is very similar in most of your fics, but it doesn’t detract from the stories in my opinion. Stallion 2. Personally I’m not a fan of Bullet so my preference here would be no. I think you could pull it off if you really wanted to though. My issue is mostly that he is a non-canon character who is supposedly really important historically given that he sailed with Roger. I just think his supposed relationship with a lot of canon characters could trip you up here. I’m also not a fan of his devil fruit. I actually think it could work better if you changed his backstory to have him sail with Xebec instead of Roger, but that might be too big a change.

Not an answer to your questions, but a suggestion to use Google docs instead. It saves everything you type realtime to your Google drive so long as you have Internet

For the romance aspect: I kinda like knowing what to expect for the pairing right off the bat, and seeing you work towards it. For Making Waves: I think this is you just being a little too critical. I've seen someone else say it, Mira is not the type to share. And you've done a fantastic job with Jenny, I'd completely disregarded her character as irrelevant previous to reading this story. Not anymore. As for everything else in the story? It's fine. I wouldn't want you to change it. As for diving into the Fairy Tail world again? I'd love for you to do that. Maybe one with HP this time? I don't know how world breaking Harry would be in the Fairy Tail world though. If you don't do HP, I can live with another Ranma cross with FT. On Sci-fi universes, I'd love to see you do something with Halo, Mass Effect and either HP or Ranma. I've for a couple of Halo/ME stories that are really great, and I'd love to see what you could do with those two groups clashing. Conversely; if you were doing a fantasy cross-over, I'd really love to see you do something with HP and either the PJO or Danmachi universes and Have Harry involved with Hestia in either stories. I've been on a HP/PJO kick lately, and haven't found a good HP/Danmachi story to read, as of yet.

dasurlytella

I’m in favor of breaking the stories by fandom. The class restrictions don’t really make sense outside of the rules trying to simulate the differences in use between different weapons. Length, curvature, function - stabbing, slashing, chopping, piercing - mean being skilled with one type of blade does not necessarily mean someone is skilled with another. Instead of restrictions, just have them suck with certain types of weapons or armors. Love fantasy and sci-if, but I would be happy to see some of the less common sci-fi settings or fandoms make an appearance.

MagisterdeVita

I do really enjoy that you open dialogue with questions regarding your stories or any other particular matters what's your patrons. You're the only person really does that other people that support and I find it quite refreshing. General questions 1. For this particular question I'm more of a middle ground type of person. I do enjoy the short- term but sometimes it can feel cheap and not earned. And due to anime and many other different types of stories I hate long-term romances. Costly screaming at the screen "just kiss her already you fool!" Not to mention I feel it's a little unfair to get all that build up and then not actually see the Dynamics of the relationship. Like we had all this build and investment and now all they get is a kiss and and credits. I want to see you there first date, the first fight… the first sex scene, lol's… so something along the lines of what you're doing with fate. We had a decent part of the story with no romance, then we had to love interests meet each other have their own dynamics of getting to know one another on top of a good bit of drama and now we get to see how the relationship plays out on the day-to-day for such a unique relationship as well. So yeah definitely more of the middle ground type of person and wanting to see the build-up as well as the payoff and how it proceeds afterward. 2. Please don't, when making wave ends, let it end. You have so many interesting stories that I would love to see and I'd rather once done and dusted that you move on to one of those instead. 3. I personally prefer if you keep it the long story, short story and patron polls. I feel like if you did one one and one each fandom, well you'll have moments like certain ones only being the ones that win. Like look at champion right now, if it was just HP stories I doubt we'll get any fate or magic and the BG story will never see the light of day. So unless there was a way to balance it out so that certain stories just can't dominate, maybe having them being rotated out like you do with the current ones but make it a two months rather than just a month's one then that might be more feasible. 4. Can't really say much on this one haven't really touched wattpad. More of a fiction live and QQ, with the occasional space battle. 5. Fantasy all day. While space is cool and there's interesting things with aliens and everything like that, I really enjoyed going in the more medieval or ancient time frame. Both because of the mystery of it all on top of potential uplifting that can occur was having two modern people bringing their philosophy in skills to the forefront. Not to mention with fantasy you're more so leaning on more humanoid type creatures so The uncanny valley isn't as present. Also I'm a big fan of magic/chi being Incorporated. Whereas with space you have to have more psyonic energy type situation. But regardless I would definitely be interested in seeing more ancient aspects for stories. Like seeing Ranma in the 3 kingdoms or being thrown into your garden variety cultivator quest. Or Harry going to throw back to westeros (I know it's cliche but I will be interested in seeing your take on it) or imagine him getting thrown into the assassin's Creed universe and having to deal with some of the old time stuff in Egypt or Greece. BR 1. I think you should, after all Harry's not actually locked into the actual game. His match is letting him do things on a more metaphysical type of way. So it's not really game bringing so much as the game is alive and putting actual magical logic into the world. So having some class features or even some quest that would normally not appear in that game or world but because it's not a living breathing thing should crop up from time to time. 2. I think you may be right that the blacksmiths thing might be leaving a little too close to fate. Maybe try Branch got into different forms of crafting. Like Harry leaning really heavily into cooking and then to his shock and dismay funny he has a real neck for potions and alchemy in this world (meanwhile in another place in another time Snape is bleeding from his mouth in silent rage.) Or instead of going into blacks missing going into enchanting instead. What's the whole blood magic thing having him bleed on an item and then discovering that his blood can infuse power into items is a easy stepping stone to going into the whole enchanting and how magic can be incorporated into items. 3. Hell yes get that good loot! Find the mystic epic weapons in armor and have it so that everyone's using it and not just the goblin hoarding MC lol's.

A Good Hunter

General Questions: 1. I do like knowing the pairings and having them establish that they are a couple fairly quickly but beyond that? Fast, slow, whatever feel right to you, on a case by case basis, imho. 2. I have no objection. 3. If splitting the polls by MC is what you want to do, go for it. It makes sense. 4. I haven’t had good experiences with Wattpad, but it’s been a while. 5. Sufficiently advanced science and all that. Whatever interests you and your muse. Bhaalson Remodel: 1. Yes. All the yes. The restrictions are stupid. Just make him have to work for it, and be logical about it. 2. Repairo already serves most of the purpose of Blacksmithing for active adventurers, but I can see them combining to allow Harry to maintain the groups gear without metaphorically bleeding all over it. Runecrafting’s biggest hurdle, to my mind, is learning it. Where would he get the training? I’m not concerned about similarities as, unless he’s making Frostmourne or some bs, it’s usually a support skill that doesn’t generally get a lot of screen time. It makes him more self-sufficient as far as magical equipment goes which I love. I’m maybe a bit biased in that I love having access to crafting whenever I play an RPG. 3. My biggest concern would be adventures where the sole purpose is to upgrade a single item. I’m fine with the concept of finding a rusty/broken or even standard grade weapon and awakening its true potential, or what have you, but I’m invested in the characters, not their weapons. If they MADE the weapons (via Blacksmithing and Runecrafting) however...

Novus

So...before anything else. I assume you already tried this but I'd feel like a jerk if I didn't mention it. Since you have Office 365, the files should have been auto-saving to OneDrive as part of your Office account. Did you...check the online backup of OneDrive? Also, sorry you lost the files :-(. As a writer myself, I know how utterly maddening and disheartening it is to have to rewrite something... First the general questions: 1. Honestly, the only thing I hate is the 'not figuring it out until the end' version. Fast or slow either one can work well, depending on the personalities involved. Since I consider romance in general a major part of any story (with very few exceptions), I do loathe a LACK of development. Which is generally what happens with the ones that leave it hanging until the last stretch of story...or, worse, the Epilogue. 2. I actually very rarely vote for Making Waves...for many of the reasons you listed. Of all of your stories (at least of all the ones I read, which is...basically all of them that don't crossover with DxD), Making Waves has the most...issues. You did some fascinating things in expanding the world, which I really enjoyed. But when you started actually interacting with the main cast things sort of...went 'blah.' On the Romance side, it's actually Jenny that feels the most natural to me...and Erza that feels the most forced. Like you REALLY wanted him to be with Erza, but didn't have enough space to build it, so you forced it in with a crowbar. Jenny, on the other hand, he interacts with fairly early. And his impact on how she thinks of her magic is big enough to believe she'd keep thinking of him. She's also quicker to admit and understand her feelings than most of the characters, so there's less wasted space with her. I also think the Rangers were something of a mistake if you were going to ever have Ranma in Fairy Tail (the guild) at all. He either needed to be with the Rangers, who are interesting, OR with Fairy Tail. Not split between the two of them. This, more than anything, is what made things go 'blah' for me when you hit the interaction with the main Fairy Tail timeline/plot. Since it diverted him from the interesting Ranger stuff you were basically creating form scratch...to stuff that was too local and too low level for him to bother with by the time he got that far in the first place. It was in trying to do both that things just kinda fell flat for me. 3. I'm going to be honest with you. You've changed how you do polls so many times that I stopped paying attention to the rules you're using for them. I just wait for them to appear, hope the stories I want are on the list for the month, vote, and hope for the best. 4. I haven't looked into Wattapad for a few years. In the past it was pretty much a dead end for anything of decent quality. There were a few other places, like the Spacebattles forums, where you can occasionally find diamonds in the rough. But it's almost always a case of sorting through heaps of trash to find a few gems. And doing so without the tools that Fanfiction . net and Ao3 provide :-(. 5. I'm honestly a genuinely even split Fantasy/Sci-fi. Though I admit, I tend to enjoy seeing them mixing together unexpectedly even more than either by themselves. Harry ending up in Star Wars was a treat, since it mixed fantasy magic into a Sci-fi setting. Overall, you tend to have such excellent taste in settings (aside from DxD -_-). So I typically look forward to whatever new idea you have. The odder the mix, the better, usually. Specific questions: First, since it’s in my mind, Making Waves. 1. Don't care. I groaned when you hinted at her being pregnant. Not just because I tend to see children as a drag on fanfiction stories...but because of your next question. 2. ...there isn't one. As I said above, I groaned at you SPECIFICALLY choosing Erza to be the pregnant one, because you effectively hampered the entirety of Fairy Tail in the process. Erza is pretty much IT when it comes to leadership among the younger set. Gary and Cana are/would have been the next most likely. But Gary is gone. That...pretty much just leaves Cana. She's the only one that has the combination of power and people skills. And she's honestly not a good fit. Like, at all. Mira has the power but not the people skills. No one else has either one. 3. ...I have no idea what you are referring to with this one. Apparently you made it farther into Fairy Tail than I did. Bhaalson Remodel: 1. Honestly, just screw with the restrictions however you want. Remember, as amazing as the BG series is, it was based on possibly the single worst edition of D&D ever made. A lot of the stuff in AD&D just didn't make sense at all and was fixed in later editions. And, of course, a lot of even the later edition restrictions were/are more about balancing the power of classes against each other than about them being accurate in-setting. There's no reason to keep that sort of thing, since you aren't having to balance a party of actual players against the world. Let the power of Homebrew DMing flow through you. Unlimited by something as minor as having to deal with players! 2. Hmmm, how about going sideways and having him get into magical item creation. Not HP world stuff, but more BG universe stuff. If Tonks doesn't know runes, he'd have no way of learning them anyway. But if he uses his magic to help forge and then enchants things in a more BG style way...it could have interesting results. On the other hand, you're going to run into the problem of runes and enchanting sooner or later regardless, since you insisted on bringing Hermione and Fleur into the world. Between them, those two are going to be able to blow anything Lily introduced in Fate out of the water. By a lot. Honestly, those two are actually probably a lot more world-breaking than Harry and Tonks are...actually, scratch 'probably.' Those two ARE a lot more world-breaking than Harry and Tonks are. Period. 3. Yes please! That and the Strongholds were some of the best mechanics in the games! Actually hoping you do a stronghold too...or maybe have Harry make a portable stronghold of some sort? The Tent idea is overused. But there are actual spells in DnD for a an extra dimensional mansion. And there's always the Howl's Flying Castle option. Huh. I suppose that would be one way to solid Nalia's BG2 problems. "Unwanted suitor after your castle? Yoink the castle for your flying fortress and let them have the empty land!" And two questions for Stallion of the line: 1. Haven't seen it, can't help you there. *shrug* 2. Ditto the response to #1...

Beleriond

General Questions: 1) It can depend on the personalities, but I generally prefer build up in relationships. They allow you to explore the characters and their development more. Getting together too soon can also make it seem like a fling. One thing you haven't done (that I can remember) is an arranged marriage where both parties try to make it work, and eventually fall for each other. Just thought of that because you have done multiple fantasy worlds, but that has never come up. It would have to be done with Harry or another character. Ranma would never ever agree to an arranged marriage, not after everything he's been through. 2) I do agree with the changes you have outlined, but I don't want to push you into taking on yet another project when you already have so many. I still want Death's Avenger Dammit! Maybe keep some notes on the changes and plot points so you can reference them if you write an HP crossover at a later date. I do like the world, and I think another story would be a lot of fun, but definitely finish some other ones first. I would so love to see Harry entering the guild during a fight only the repair a table and sit down. This of course causes everyone to stop and look at him. Then rush him trying to recruit him. Makarov being particularly forceful, so that he can finally have a wizard who can repair the damage his guild does on a daily basis. 3) So long as I still get my monthly dose of your writing, the delivery method matters very little to me. Sorry I can't be more helpful here. 4) Never used Wattpad myself, so no idea. 5) I generally prefer fantasy, but I am not at all opposed to sci-fi, except for mecha stuff, that's a big no from me. Ranma in history does sound intriguing. You haven't really done historical stuff. Isekai to a medieval world does not count. Making Waves: 1) I honestly don't know. I think it would either have to be a boy or a tom-boy though. I can't even imagine Ranma and Erza raising a femine child. I mean Ranma does have some experience with Wendy I guess, so it could be done, but that would also basically be repeating things wouldn't it? What was the name of that guy with the metal jaw? He was on the island with Erza. I think she might name her son after him. Simon! It was Simon. How does Simon Saotome sound? 2) That's... a good question. I was going to say Mira but you raise good points. It would have to be someone settled, someone responsible, and someone who could intimidate the other guild members at need. Off the top of my head: Elfman, Fried, or Warrod if he can be recruited back. Maybe even Lucy. She might be able to grow into the role. She's powerful on her own, but with Cana backing her up, yeah that would definitely intimidate the other members. 3) Don't really care. I could see a lot of their members seeking new guilds, but maybe a few stay together. I would imagine that the Dragonslayers would at least seek each other out. Maybe they try to reform the guild and give it a new name. Up to you. I have nothing to contribute to the last two sets of questions.

1. Romance: It really depends on the story. Both approaches can influence how a story plays out, so it really depends on where you want to take your story. Additionally, there's also a third path you can take, where the characters relationship upgrade happens neither near the beginning or end, but around the middle of the story. 2. Another Dive into Fairy Tale: I'd be interested in an outline, sure. Honestly, I kinda lost interest in Making Waves after the Tenrou Island arc, it just wasn't as fun to read. 3. Poll By Fandom: Yes. 4. Wattpad: Dunno, never gone there myself. 5. Fantasy or Sci-Fi: I like both equally.

M B

General: 1) Of those two choices, I prefer quick start to the romances. That said, I think a bit of a middle road, where it takes a little bit of time for the romance to build, but not the whole fic, would probably be my main preference. I ejnjoy the build up, but I also want to see the romance itself, which you don't get much of if it only happens at the very end. 5) I enjoy both sci fi and fantasy, but when I think about what stories I might want a crossover with, most of the ones that come to mind are sci fi. I love Bhaalson (those young whipersnappers who aren't voting for it don't know what they missed with those games :D) and Fate-touched, but I can't really think of that many more fantasy stories I have read that stick in my head as much as Baldur's gate or LotR. Bhaalson: 1) I think breaking the restrictions would be interesting, just do what you feel fits. Those restrictions were made for game balance (I expect), and as an author you can balance much more freely than a game dev, if you so choose. 2) Hmm… maybe have him start ot learn Smithing, and once Hermione enters the game, she starts him down the path of rune-craft, or maybe she learns it (inspired by/to complement Ancient Runes from her classes? 3) Haven't played the games in ages, so can't really remember specifics. So generally: I like the idea of upgradable special weapons, but whatever route you go with, it definitely shouldn't be easy. Maybe requiring rare components or such.

Jamie Coady

Hi well romance can be tricky. If you have she looks hot I fancy her lets kiss. that to me is skin deap and nothing to do with the personallieies. I have ready a lot of fics and in too many for my liking romance is simply hay i suddenly fancy her for no reason lets kiss! oh that was nice lets have sex oops kid number 2.5 is coming along. so you have to make it seam believeable. about the pole well i only know the hp world so i would like to read one now and again so if there was a chance to read one every month or 2 then I would jump at the chance. About BR it is already AU so do like you did with there magic and allow them to have it but not bring out 50 level 2000 holy unbeatible swords a day but maybe they can enhance some of there weapons and armer as they already can repair? i would normally say stick with fantasy as more can be done without too many changes but many sci-fi's can crossovers can be good to read. Hope this helps

HornsOfTheseus

Since no one seems to be answering the Stallion questions 1. Uta from Film Red is pretty great but honestly hard to smoothly incorporate in a story unless from the beginning because she and Luffy knew each other when Shanks was on Dawn Island. Like why would Luffy literally never think about her anywhere in the text? 2. Leaving off Douglas bullet is my vote.

Bryan Brown

general questions: 1. Romance depends on the characters. You letting it write itself is the best thing. The only thing that makes me dislike a romance is if it feels forced. 2. Not a huge Fairy tale fan so my answer is going to be no. 3. The main problem I see with this set up is Champion winning every month. Oh wait, that’s not a problem that’s a feature, go ahead and do it. 5. Ranma in the Warring States or the Three Kingdoms would be good. On the other hand, I have liked all your Sci Fi stories so another one would be nce. If you are thinking of sending the DC/Ranma into space… I never really paid attention to the DC space stuff. Always been more interested in the supernatural/street level side of DC Bhaalson Remodel: 1. At a minimum you should allow the system to grant a quest to drop the restrictions if his actions indicate that it would be appropriate. 2 and 3. You can always just have enchanting/rune-craft be added though his blood magic as an attunement like process to weapons/armor he acquires rather than forges letting you do the same thing in a different way. This would feed into adding upgradeable weapons and you could limit it to Harry, Tonks, and later Hermione and Fleur if you wished.

vimesenthusiast

That supposes I am connected to the internet at the time lol. I am often not.

vimesenthusiast

Gonnna answer all in depth later. But as for now… danmachi… 🤔 interesting 🧐

vimesenthusiast

Okay just did a brief read through will do more in depth answers when I have access to a real keyboard 😆. For now I will state here an answer to a misconception several commenters mentioned: I am NOT asking about rewriting Making Waves. I am asking here if people would, A, be interested in seeing an outline or concept chapter of a new Fairy Tail / Ranma or HP story. And B, saw some of the same issues/things I had seen or if I was being too critical. That is all.

1. Romance: I prefer for the couple (trouple or Harem, whatever) to get together relatively early. So from that point on, it’s the story of a battle couple (or whatever is appropriate) fighting together against various threats. I’m fucking sick of those couples that don’t get together until the very end of the story, sometimes not even then, just a hint, a maybe, maybe not. And before that for three-quarters of the story you have an endless litany of will they won’t they, it’s torture. 2. Making Waves: Honestly no, Fairy Tail is an interesting setting, and you did it justice. Yes, it may not be perfect but going back to it would just be redundant. 3. Yes, I like the idea of having an HP and a Ranma poll. But sorry, I’m still not motivated for Heroes of the High Seas, MHA is still not a setting that call to me. (Perhaps after Stallion.) 5. Sci-fi or Fantasy: I like both with a preference for Fantasy. But I wouldn’t mind another Ranma in Sci-Fi notably the crossover with Mass Effect. Making Waves: 1. Ezra’s kid: Doesn’t matter much to me. Bhaalson: 1. Gamer system: Yes, I’ll like that. The weapon restriction never made much sense anyway. 2. Rune or Smithing: No, that would be too much. 3. Weapons: Yes, I love upgradeable weapons. Particularly if it implied looking for unique ingredients or minor quests. (If I didn’t answer a question it’s because I have no opinion on it or because I don’t know the subject.)

Curiosity44

I thought it was too critical. You have done an amazing job with it. Although, it would be interesting to see a HP x FT cross with Harry's style of magic being brought into the world

Zolkrath

1. I feel like when characters start their relationship in the beginning of a story (however far into it you feel is necessary, depending on the story), and building that relationship from there would be my preferred take on it. Whether that build up after the characters start their relationship is fast or slow depends how you feel the characters would act in that situation and how you want to write them. Then again, I’m not super partial to it either since I’ve enjoyed the direction you take in each story you’ve written and sometimes you can go faster in the romance and others you can’t. Sorta just depends on you and how you want to outline it all. 2. I didn’t mind how you wrote Making waves Romance; it was a tad frustrating with everyone trying to feel each other out and what they wanted before the relationships truly began. But I enjoyed it, the beginning of romance doesn’t always need to be structured and the characters are young; still learning what they like and don’t like just like we do. Could it have been written better with a better outline of what you want, maybe I’m not sure, but at the end of the day I would say it is something to look at and learn from for your future stories. I would also love for you to do another fic in the Fairy Tail universe, whether that is with Ranma or HP. 3. I think having 1 of each would be good. However, I do think that maybe putting off the polls might be another option for a few months. Finish both ATP and Horse. And then bring the polls back and start on other stories. Just an option to throw out there. Speaking of that, in the future are you bringing back Death’s Avenger or has that been put on the back of the story list or even dropped out? 4. I tried Wattpad for a bit. Personally, I have found that it is much better in original work/Real World Fanfiction than fanfiction for Marvel, HP, RWBY or etc. Not to say that there might not be good work from there for those movies/books. But I’ve just found that they are few and far in between. Then again, I could be wrong. 5. Honestly I love it all and don’t have a preferred preference. I loved how you wrote space battles for Horse and Magic of the Force. I love to see you do it again! Although, having Ramna in specific go to the Warring States/Three Kingdom era’s does sound fun as well. Writing more sci-fi or technological stories can get bogged down in explanations or may even take away time for character development that would need to be shown elsewhere; but I personally don’t mind it since I enjoy it very much, especially the showing of technology since I’m currently in a STEM field. Making waves: 1. Don’t have a preference, I’m sure you’ll write it well either way. 2. I’m not really sure who would be a good Guild master. Bhaalson Remodel: 1. I would say yes, I agree the restrictions to it are definitely odd and make no sense. Maybe you can have them be removed through a series of trials or have that come at a cost; maybe the weapons he uses would be heavier and cause him to be more sluggish using them. Requiring more training to master them; I’m not sure, but it is an option. 2. I don’t mind either tbh. He might be more inclined to smithing however, being able to craft armor and such for his group. However if you do decide to go with rune-crafting, maybe you can tie that into whichever God he ends up joining/follows. 3. I don’t really have a preference here, I would be good to balance out the group. So if you happened to give Harry the ability to Rune-craft/smith, maybe spread out the love of the special weapons with other people. Or he maybe finds one that would be worse than what he has but has to upgrade it with his newfound skills in Rune-craft or smithing. In the end, it's up to you.

Uta is cool, like to have her in Stallion of the Line

Patrick McDonald Meteer

General: 1. it's good to have a specific relationship idea and go in with that idea from the start if you want said character to be in said relationship, but whenever one forces a relationship against what the characters would realistically pick in-said-story it generally makes for worse quality writing; overall though the point at which the relationship becomes official is the point where it becomes official, and outside of it probably not reaching in the first ten or twenty thousand words, and it needing to be between two people who are capable of consent under whatever circumstances they're in(no starting a romance during first year in a Harry Potter fanfiction, and no major relationship progress before third in the same; no stockholm syndrome, no sudden massive personality changes, etcetera), it really doesn't matter when a relationship starts and at what precise rate it advances. 2. it's good that you want to rewrite a story that you feel that you didn't do justice for the first time around, but I agree that this shouldn't come before you work your way at least a little bit into your backlog of 'ideas that I want to write' Stallion of the Line: 1. I agree that Z wasn't very good and that Gold wasn't really worth it, as Dresrosa very much eclipsed it and Doflamingo very much covered the same conceptual bases as the villain there(and was a drastically better character at that); of the remaining relatively recent ones, Strong World was very much Oda using up a character that he replaced with Kaido in an arc that turned into Wano once he started expanding it out- so the characters and plot found within are very much redundant(although it is still fairly good). the stuff from Film Red is absolutely worth including, and is competing with Stampede for the best One Piece movie of all time(that has so far been released); the only real conflicting issue is that Uta and Luffy technically met when they were kids, if you go by the tie-in non-canon episodes, so you would need to find a way to either work in or work around that would-be past event. 2. Stampede was, and is, very much an excuse to have a giant One Piece battle that wouldn't make any sense occurring in the main timeline before what would likely be extremely close to the end of the entire Manga/anime; to that end, Douglas Bullet is an absolutely amazing antagonist... that doesn't have a very complex backstory, doesn't have very complex motivations, and doesn't have quite enough power to actually stand up as a late-Wano or post-Wano level antagonist; but if you're fine with a fairly simple-ish side villain, then you can't really go wrong with him. after all, he is still a full New World level villain with the power to back it up, and he isn't made redundant by the other antagonists out there like the villains of Gold and Strong World are.

Toraneko Mai

i'm just going to answer a couple of the questions, as some i have no opinion on, and others i'm still trying to get caught up with... while i'm completely caught up on stallion, i have yet to actually watch any one piece, so i can't offer any answers to those questions. the only story i'm caught up on which i have enough background on the originals behind them is Bhaalson Remodel, so here we go with that. 1. while the restrictions make some sense for a video game, or even a (relatively) short table top rpg, they don't make sense in real life conditions, nor does the idea that you only gain attribute points on level up really... i'd say that the proficiency points can only get added up to what is technically allowed, but can end up earning more proficiency points through actions, like actually training with someone, or through combat experience. i'm pretty sure by now, imoen could look at her stat page and find that either her short sword, or short bow has increased 1 point in proficiency. Harry has almost certainly done enough with the long sword to gain a point in proficiency, or will have once he finishes training his stance. 2. Smith i could see harry possibly doing, but unless it is something given to him by the God he chooses, i don't see him picking up runecraft, though i could see imoen picking runecraft up in order to boost her options. as for if he picks them both up, him being too op... well, it's up to you, i don't mind either way. 3. upgradeable weapons... i love them, they are great both from a game play perspective as well as lore if done right, and i think you could easily do it right. but again, it's up to you how you want to continue, as it is your story, and your muses.

Eraser279

Honestly, if you would like to find some new content for your muse I would suggest checking https://forums.spacebattles.com. They have several Marvel and Star Wars fics and generally a good community. Probably the best thing about the site is that on the creative writing page you can see how many words a fic has and how many pages of replies there are to determine what people are interested in. For a specific example, I suggest Maverick Solutions: Crime Doesn't Pay (Enough) [Marvel SI].

Braeden1002

First the general questions: 1. I would have to say the my preference would lay somewhere in the middle when it comes to the romance. I personally like knowing what the pairings will be at least when it comes to the main character(s). So, if the characters want to have sex near the beginning and as the story develops it is not just about the sex and becomes the romance and relationship then great. Or if things develop over an extended period of time and we see them acting like a couple and deepening the relationship, this is best shown in my opinion in ‘A Third Path to the Future’ as the relationship between Harry and Ororo and then Harry and Emma were somewhat quick but that fit their situations and the emotions. But then when you look at the way things have progressed between Harry and Hela their relationship is a slow burn and it is great to see. There is nothing wrong with forcing the initial relationship as people will fall in love with people just based on their looks or their surface feelings and emotions and then as they learn about one another on a deeper level things become more romantic. 2. I personally feel that you are being overly critical and that you are just seeing things that you were not happy with at the time that you started writing and with your greater skills from the amount of time you have been writing you can see the improvements. I personally actually liked all of the pairings and the way that the relationships started, developed, and grew as not everyone would want to move at the same pace and would want to do different things. So Mira losing interest so quickly with the fact that Ranma’s female form looks so similar to Erza would reasonably happen. With Jenny she had been carrying a torch for Ranma ever since he was able to help her further her skills as a mage that of course she would fall for him as hard as she did. With Juvia she struck me as someone that knew what she wanted and between Ranma understanding and her knowing what they wanted out of a relationship it makes sense that things would progress quickly. Honestly once the story is done, I personally would not care if you did anything further with the outlines or the world. 3. If the plan was 1 HP (ATP), 1 Ranma (Horse), and 1 Patreon poll then I would be okay with that format until one of the HP/Ranma stories finished. The other option would be alternating ATP and Horse while still having one or two polls; so for arguments sake May – ATP then June – Horse. 4. This is the first time I am hearing of Wattpad so I am indifferent to it but if you started posting there I may follow to the site. 5. I don’t think I have a preference with the overarching worlds of fantasy, historical, modern, or sci-fi. For me it comes down to the actual fandom that is being used then what is the world. Making Waves. 1. So I have not read ‘Making Waves’ in a long time so I am sort of out of touch of what is happening in the series but do they know that she is only having one child or could you decide to have her give birth to twins. If it is known then I personally would lean towards a son as we have seen him look after and care for Wendy so it would be nice to see how he would interact with a son and how he would go about doing his best to not be like his Dad. 2. Honestly for all that he is an ass I still think that it should be Laxus who becomes the Guild Master but have Makarov be in the place of an advisor role for the first while. Being in that position and having to deal with all of the responsibilities would probably give him reason to change and further grow as a person. If not Laxus, Jenny or Juvia would be interesting just for what they would do. But I believe that whoever takes the position should at the least be an S-Class mage. 3. With the Master dead and having been dead for a while I see no reason for the guild Sabertooth to even exist in the world. So, if you felt the characters could serve a purpose in the overall story then they could join rival guilds or dark guilds. They could also join Fairy Tale for all that it matters. Bhaalson Remodel: 1. Maybe do something that is a bit of both; it could be that when you join Harry’s party you gain the ability to break the mould of weapons and armor but that it would take additional training to be able to properly use said items. I would have no problem if the group could use the martial weapons without issue but that for those that do not have the class/race benefits maybe they only can use it half as well. But I guess that would depend on if the more important encounters don’t feel easy with the additional skills that the main party has. 2. Rune-Craft/enchanting would make sense considering how his blood magics work and what could happen when Hermione and Fleur eventually meet up with Harry. But considering this Harry does not have the same schooling and the way that he grew up in this world so different from Fate Harry that maybe he learns smithing and enchanting of weapons and armours. This would be a distinct difference as he does not have the schooling and or learning when it comes to runecraft. While during the forging process he can imbue the weapons or armour with magic to bestow upon it certain properties instead of having to inscribe an object with runes. 3. Honestly if you want to include and be able to upgrade special weapons then I am all for it and would love to see what you would want to do and what the changes would entail. When you say introduce it or offer it are you referring to the weapon or the ability to upgrade things? If it is the weapon(s) themselves then I would say that they learn about things like that from looting it off of enemies, read about it in a book or a story which gives Harry a quest, or if he chooses a God then it could be a Divine Intervention vision. But if it is about upgrading weapons or armour beyond their capabilities then that could be learned by visiting a blacksmith and then they would mention that only certain blacksmiths can do that and that sometimes it requires unique items. Stallion of the line: 1. Honestly I would love to see the characters from the movie added to the overall story (especially if Uta joined the relationship) but I know that it would require some changes to the background of the characters as you developed Raffy’s childhood in the story and Uta was not a part of it. I have not seen the movie just yet but I do plan to, but from what I know they mention that Uta and Luffy are childhood friends and used to play together. The main reason I would be interested in seeing it in the show as this could potentially be the first or second time that we could see Shanks and his strength with the use of the Devil Fruit that he ate. 2. It could be interesting to see what changes his actions would have on the rest of the crew and how things could be changed with his appearance in the world especially after you have given him a greater repertoire of abilities that are not shown in the movie. However, as an individual character I do no think that he would be able to do anything he would best on a crew. But is it the character or the Devil Fruit that has caught your interest? As unless you have Raffy cause a mass jail break from Impel Down then unless he is an antagonist in the prison we won’t see anything happen. I would be more inclined seeing the fruit being used by a different character instead of having to figure out how he could escape the jail.

vimesenthusiast

still don't have access to a real keyboard. Will tomorrow. Death's Avenger is NOT dead. It will return when Horse and ATP are done to the Patron only poll... unless Making Waves is within two chapters of completion by then. In which case I will just wrap that story up first.

vimesenthusiast

Still don't have a real keyboard. typing on ipad, hate it. laptop died. Bad build. But have to say. your answer to BR questions - potions. FUCK YES. This is why I ask people opinion questions. I get gold back!!!!!!!!!

Tellemicus Sundance

Honestly? I would not mind seeing you either rewrite Making Waves, or start anew with an entirely different storyline. All of those problems you listed could then be more easily addressed or avoided.

Friendly Neighborhood Eldritch Horror

On Sci-Fi vs. Fantasy: I'd like to see more Sci-Fi, not because I dislike fantasy, I love it, but I've often found it slightly harder to find good sci-fi fanfiction than good fantasy fanfiction.

Sorry for my late reply, RL sometimes sucks! --- Word Blues: There could be several reasons why Microsoft Office 365 might not save a document. Some common reasons include issues with synchronizing the document’s updates to the cloud, problems with the installation or activation of Office or issues specific to the file itself. In the most likely case of a cloud issue, you can try to see, if there is a temporary file that includes all the changes. On the other hand, if you don’t use OneDrive, I recommend to uninstall OneDrive and turn off cloud saving. Check the OneDrive if the file is there, since the locally file wasn’t updated. Step-by-step process – How to stop Office 365 automatically saving files to OneDrive: 1.) First, Open any Office 365 program (e.g. PowerPoint or Word), that you are working on. 2.) Then click on “File.” 3.) On the bar on the left, click on “Options.” 4.) In the new panel, select “Save,” located on the left. 5.) Uncheck the box “AutoSave OneDrive and SharePoint Online files by default” 6.) Finally, close everything. Source: https://businesstechplanet.com/how-to-stop-office-365-automatically-saving-files-to-onedrive/#:~:text=Step%20by%20step%20process%20%E2%80%93%20How%20to%20stop,be%20disabled%20by%20default%20in%20future%20papers.%20 Furthermore, make sure in the Word options, Files\Options\Save you note down the ‘AutoRecover’ file location and check there. Also, you can change it how often the AutoRecover is saved and other important options! Another tip could be, save DNS file as unformatted text file, copy the whole text within and then when you edit it in Word, paste/insert it there as “Unformatted Text” and only then edit it! Something else that came to mind, since I don’t use DNS, could it be that DNS had the Word file open and thus ‘locked’ for editing by other programs? If so, make sure that DNS is closed before editing a Word file. Another precaution could be that you always add some letter or word, save, close open, see if everything is alright and only then continue. On an off chance, that it wasn’t any of the above, check the drive for errors, firmware updates for the drive and the like! In addition, when done you can copy to a cloud service/external USB/SSD/HD or such after being done with each part. --- Romance: In your case I prefer for the couples/harem that you do them early, or like in DxD the couple that was advertised in the beginning may not happen and thus feel down, when not delivered as promised! So maybe that’s one reason why Ranma/DxD had some fallout there and other stories preferred. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the story but for a while I felt a little bit ‘cheated.’ After they first latched together, and are now in the dating stage, that they slowly develop is best, even more so in a harem, which makes it possible to integrate them even better in the whole group. Please not too drawn out dating stages! However, don’t fall into a trap that all stories needs to be done like schema ‘F’ and sometimes like that multiple are interested without already locked down and from there it develops can be good in some fanfics! Still if you promise pairings x/y/(z)/… I want it delivered and hope how that is accomplished! On the Making Waves romance, I don’t think it was forced, especially Mira experiencing how a harem is and that this wasn’t for her, along with Ranma’s female form resembling Erza. Jenny is awesome as is, while Juvia, she latched onto Grey as fast as she did on Ranma and thus I don’t think anything wrong of how she latched so fast onto Ranma!!! As a couple having a fallout like Mira, I think that was good covered and that some aren’t meant for each other happens all the time in the RL, which makes it more relatable and real to read. In hindsight, I for one LOVES that there was a fallout of love for Mira and thus the breakup happened at all. Usually in too many stories, there is Black/White view of either all in love or no love at all and next to no (“50 shades of Gray” >:p ) in-between!!! It made it feel more real for me. Same as “zagan”/”MagisterdeVita”/”Novus” I’m too sick of ‘blockhead’ characters that simple don’t get together with the girls for far too long and don’t recognize them being in love with him! Thus, I’m too sick of the romance stretched too far unreasonable time of not getting together! Shout out to “Braeden1002” on his part of romance section! --- Voting Blues: One Ranma, one Harry, one Patreon were always preferred on my side (not into ‘Heroes of the High Seas’). There you also can decide how long the Ranma or Harry chapter will be. ;) Please keep in mind your promises about the voting system as well the rotation one. The always changing after asking/voting is kind of meh. The exception of a rule is still an exception and proves the rule. :p Shout out to “Novus.” I want the rotation to stay, so I don’t have to re-read entirely anew to get back into the story!!! --- Wattpad: This site went under my radar. --- Genre preference: I’m more a fantasy type guy. However, here and there a sci-fi is awesome for changing things up. Like your Ranma/Star Wars or Ranma/DC crossovers that are so splendid done! ^^ If a story like Ranma/DC has both of the things, some magic and some science is great too! Those that mix it greatly with good build up on how it functions are even better! How you did mix in Ranma/DC the mythical/fantasy/sci-fi I love. This with the scientist mind within Ranma’s harem I look forward how the mix will be in the end the outcome! Like “zagan” I wouldn’t mind at all a continuation of “Mass Effect!!!” Same as “Delphinous” I prefer character driven stories compared to world driven stories. --- Making Waves: -Underused Grey: I think that’s simple Grey being similar to ‘Sasuke’ of Naruto and that personality itself is quite glaring! Begone, narcissism personality that ruins so much with their decisions! Have to hand it to the author, that this Grey is only similar but overall better than Sasuke! In your story the heroic end he had, damn that was epic! Also, he had at the end the Lone Wolf badass setting and we can only speculate of how it would have been with him still there. I think we were simple burned by Sasuke and thus are double careful when we experience similar personalities again. -Ranma the Ranger: Hmm, in hindsight (20/20), and now after reading so many comments on this, Ranma the Ranger was more of a plot device “kind of a MacGuffin,” where this was where you directed Ranma and has him his peace without too many hardships. In case Ranma resigns that Ranger positions, that is where he would bonk heads from then on, to one degree or another, not even saying about the magic of the broche or even IF he can abandon it. -Erza’s child: Hmm, on one hand I want it to be a girl. Just imagine that girl to be taught by Erza, Irene and then due the outside influence of Wendy and the like, becoming a soft-spoken ‘still water’ girl that you don’t want to anger or else Hell came to town. XD On the other hand “Braeden1002” makes a good point of us wanting to read how Ranma would handle a boy instead of a girl. Argh decisions! XD On what “Novus” pointed out: On this point, how about you get to Irene to ‘pamper’ Erza and on the side note protect Fairy Tail! Overprotective mother-in-law!!! -New Guild Master: Laxus was already chosen. Please use him as he was also in the original the new Guild Master and thus should be the obvious choice. He needs some growing but so do all others. “Scott” pointed out as well that you already made the decision in Chapter31! Also, I stand behinds Scott’s point of your version of Laxus makes even more sense of a Guild Master! -Sabertooths existence: Nope, I think either the rest should be going their own ways, or more likely, join different gilds. “Megaslayer321f” has a very good reason of why Sabertooth shouldn’t be a guild in your setting. -Re-dive into Making Waves: I’m two-sided on this one, if a re-dive, than I would see like with your Gundam story a continuation of the current world later on. However, with how you feel about the later Fairy Tail storyline that would be quite something hard and thus says no continuing of Making Waves. However, I’m always for some Ranma outlines that may be written later on! How much will you change and where will Ranma be placed this time? -You “thinking about” rewriting Making Waves, after re-reading it: Same as “Curiosity44”/”zagan” I too think you are too critical and that you have done an amazing job of it and love it! --- Stallion on the Line: -One Piece Movies questions: Sorry, haven’t watched them, so can’t help out on that one!

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you had. As a PC tech support person with over 25 years experience, I can suggest that the most likely causes for what you suffered were one or more of the following: a) Drive you were saving to is full or nearly full. b) Drive you were saving to is failing. c) Drive corruption. (Which is most commonly caused by a failing drive, loose cable, or power interruption when the drive is being written to at some point.) Have you tried right-clicking on the drive you save to, click "Properties" select the "Tools" tab and then click "Check" on the Error Checking? As for your questions. 1) Romance. I prefer the characters get together fairly early on and begin developing their relationship pretty quickly. I absolutely hate "slow-burn" romance because it too often comes off as a long tease or overly angst and/or misunderstanding ridden. Start early and then you can expand and develop their relationship deeper and further as they learn how to fight together against the enemies developing their trust and reliance upon each other as partners. 2) Not a Making Waves fan, so I'll pass on commenting here. 3) I rather like the idea of producing one each of Ranma and Harry fics each month and just having the polls being selecting which Harry fic and which Ranma one. i.e One poll of all of the Harry Potter fics to choose from and one poll of all of the Ranma fics to choose from and you can let your muse choose which is long and which is shorter. 5) I enjoy both Sci-Fi and Fantasy. I'd love to see more of either in the Mass Effect universe and I'd love to see a Ranma fic in Middle Earth. Perhaps you could have Ranma brought back in time there by Mandos after some world-ending event or transported by a magical artifact (mirror of time travel) gone awry or some other means - perhaps even directly brought back in time there by Eru Illuvitar. Ranma could be brought back to sometime after the catastrophe wrought upon Arda by the War of Wrath that marked the end of the First Age. Eru Illuvitar seeing just how terrible having such powerful beings as his Ainur/Valar fight upon the surface of Arda and sorrow at the devastation wrought upon his beloved creation, sometime during the 2nd Age sings Ranma in as a Maiar of the Martial Arts or reborn as a powerful elven warrior with his knowledge and personality preserved. He is asked/tasked with helping save Middle Earth from the evil wrought by Morgoth and Sauron and preserve the light races such as the elves, dwarves and hobbits which would in turn preserve magic as part of Middle Earth instead of having all but mankind leave or simply fade away during the 4th Age. There is such a rich world with much more room to play with in the 2nd Age and early 3rd age due to its lesser development than the late 3rd and early 4th ages that mark The Hobbit and end of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. (The major characters we are familiar with among the elves and the Wizards would all be there and available to interact with along with others that were in Middle Earth during the 2nd Age and early 3rd Age - particularly some of the dwarven kings or their children.) Ranma could find romance with an elven maiden who could perhaps stealthily come upon him practicing his art and seeing the beauty in it, want to learn it herself. Their relationship could develop as he teaches her his art and they could eventually become an unbeatable duo leading the fight to end the darkness. The Valar would back off on their demand for the elves to depart Middle Earth and they could once again flourish with defenders like Ranma and his mate and perhaps others that could befriend and join them off and on as well each with different strengths they can bring to the whole. They could also perhaps save the dwarves as well, particularly by saving Khazad-dum by defeating the Balrog before it so utterly decimates the dwarves and save the Lonely Mountain from Smaug. (Though in both cases it would likely be best that the dwarven kings in both cases perish unless you want to find a way to redeem them from their greed and corruption.) As for Bhaalson Remodel, I like the idea of the restrictions being removed as so many of them were really just to simplify and balance things for tabletop and computer gaming purposes with clear-cut limited roles for each player. The racial level limits, in particular, were utterly stupid and really did not make any sense. I also think Harry learning and becoming a powerful enchanter would be awesome. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the D&D systems but I think Dungeons & Dragons 3rd edition has a great system for enchanting that could be adopted despite the Baldur's Gate games being based upon 2nd Edition AD&D.

vimesenthusiast

I think that yes, Harry will be able to break his class’s restrictions once he levels up enough. As for others, I think there while he may be able to, it will cost him. Good point on the god impacting this. But I think I will go with the idea of potions mentioned elsewhere.

Going to start answering these now that I have a new laptop – the last one was just a bad build, was falling apart within a month of getting it. Grah. 1. AH, yes, the old anime trope of which one ‘he’ really likes. God, I hate that shit. Used to be you could toss a stone and hit like four or five such anime. UGH. Yeah, I’ve never done the whole straight to sex thing, though I came close in Destiny Vs. Chaos. Beyond that, I think most of my fast romance fics have an in-fandom built reason for them – Sekirei, Gold Digger, etc. The only one that I think I should have spaced out is FILFy teacher, stretch out the initial romance with Rias/Akeno, maybe? Hmm… nah. It wouldn’t be worth the effort at this point, and I dislike retconning LOL. 2. Exactly! I think the ranger thing, Juvia being bi, Gray/Natsu, and the speed of Jenny falling for Ranma are the three things I did wrong. But I wasn’t talking about a reboot or retcon. I don’t do that. If I did, Semblance of Hope would be the one that needed it the most. I was wondering if people would be interested in me diving back into the Fairy Tail world. Not for full fics, but outlines or teaser chapters. 3. Seems to be the majority, good. That or ‘don’t care’. 4. I think I read that a while back. I… can’t remember what I thought about it though. Seemed bland to me, I guess? Or maybe I wanted to get into it and didn’t. 5. That’s interesting, since I always pride myself on world building. I can see your point on character driven stories, but the background is important. And I know of Glynn Stewart’s works. The only ones I dislike are the Onset series (just couldn’t get into it) and peacekeepers of sol – felt the combat style in that was just bad. If I did a Ranma lost in time yes there would be a lot of ki warriors around the place. He’d probably get stomped a few times before learning and growing. I really liked Harry Potter, Geth. That was good. Oh, but there is also a Harry/Serenity crossover, where he is paired with River Tam. I liked that one a lot. MW3 – that is honestly the main point of that question. I wanted to know if people were interested enough in the characters from Sabertooth rather than the guild. Bhaalson 1. Yeah, I won’t just give Harry OP powers to take away class restrictions. Example would be ‘Share Burdens’ – he could share his ability to wear plate armor with, say Imoen, but in doing so he would lose half of his armor’s defense while also depriving her of her thief skills. As for skills, he could be able to, say, choose a combat preference, where he would be able to place more skill points into the weapons for that preference, at the expense of having any long range weapons, say being given a penalty. 2. Think I have made the decision to leave runes and such to Fleur and Hermione when they arrive. Harry though… potions. Alchemy a bit, but definitely potions. 3. Exactly what I was going for – I am not going to introduce many new weapons, but all of them will need to have things gathered and then forged in specific circumstances. Crom though was in BG2. I need to play through Durlag’s Tower. I like a lot of it’s stuff, but I want to add something new in there when we get there. Specifically some things from the mods for BG2. Or… hmm…

Delphinous

Browncoat, Green Eyes, the harry potter firefly story, it probably in my top 5 stories of all time, counting published works, i loved it so much.

vimesenthusiast

1. Other than Erza, I kind of did. Juvia was the next certain addition, but I went back and forth on Bisca and Jenny. Mira sort of wrote herself out of it, which I was kind of fine with, but I think Jenny’s overall character is kind of up and down, if that makes sense? 2. Huh. I didn’t think the Tartarus battle was only so-so. Feel like the God Serena section should have pushed him a lot more, barely eke out a win thing. As for a more in depth review, that’s okay. I was asking if people would like to see more Ranma/Fairy Tail fun. I think HP would not work as well. FT magic is far too physical for the most part. Maaaaaaybe Daddy Harry trope, with Wendy and being part of Cait Shelter, but then who should he have a romance with? Eh. Not as interesting as Ranma. 5.Ooof, I, we’ll have to agree to disagree on time travel. The only series I’ve liked with time travel in it is the Belisarius series. Making waves: Arg, hadn’t gotten to 31 in my rereading. FUCK. Thanks. I should have asked about the characters specifically rather than the guild as a whole. After consultation, I will introduce them, but only as foils to show how strong the groups that have been training have gotten in the years they’ve been gone. Bhaalson – I have made fun of some of the restrictions and I think some of them will stay. Those that get broken will come with caveats and penalties. Eh… I think I won’t go into runes here. Not with Harry anyway. I think the idea of potions mentioned by MagisterdeVita sounds good, as does Novus’ mention that together Fleur and Hermione are going to be breaking the world’s concept of magic as it is. So I will use them for the introduction of runes. And maybe a lot of the different magical items from BG2. Stallion – eh, I think Bullet’s inclusion wouldn’t be as hard to juggle as the inclusion of Rocks D. Xebec being Whitebeard, Kaido and Big Mom’s captain. That makes no freaking sense LOL. I mean, Whitebeard is all about camaraderie and crew as family, and he would serve under this guy alongside Kaidou and Big Mom at the time? HAH. So yeah, the suggestion of changing his background is a good one.

So you are in faovr of the whole tag system huh? I use em, and I understand the appeal – certainly makes searching for fics easier. But i will assume the whole working towards it means mid to long romance is your preference. Honestly, I don’t see HP would work in Fairy Tail. Balancing how the two different schools of magic interact would be very weird. Example, Fiendfyre – horribly alive burning fire, or snack for Natsu? Second example, transfiguration of living things: way to beat anyone who can’t dodge your spells, or something that can be overcome by magical resistance. Eh. I just don’t see it. Your Danmachi suggestion is much more interesting. Halo… ooooooo…. Either HP or Ranma could work great there. De aged or aged kid becoming a Spartan. But that would be one of the WAR fics. Like very little romance, not a lot of world building – the world’s already built – just training, combat, and, if I use Harry, his discovering magic on his own. Eh, not really something I could see myself writing. I already have a ME/Ranma fic. I will post a poll to see which fic should replace Horse when its done in the fanfic poll… or Ranma poll, we’ll see.

Yeah… I am scarred by how many freaking animes there have been where it’s like the main guy has no idea what romance is, or is like some eternal virgin. That used to be such a major part of shounen anime that you could toss a stone and hit any two. Tenchi, Amanadeyo, that anime about the priest and priestesses, harem animes where they literally just can’t let anything happen between any of the characters or ELSE. The kiss and end credits though is very much a romance movie trope. 2. I never said that I would try to retcon MW. Still, your preference is duly noted LOL. 3. Champion would be part of the patron only rotation. HP only would be, if I wait until ATP is done, Fate and FILFY. I can see your point though. I would definitely see the need to keep the carry over effect to make certain stories are updated routinely. 4. Do you have any fics you’d recommend from there? I don’t like Self inserts, but I would like to see a Kara or Wonder Woman crossover romance, or similarly Jean Grey or Storm fics. 5. Huh. Interesting. I switch back and forth. I only played one of the Assassin’s Creed games, so that isn’t gonna happen, but Ancient Greece is an idea. Beleriond and I thought about maybe ancient Britain too, with the legion Hispana, the Lost legion, as part of a major world building Harry only fic – A Name to Conjure With. BR. Potions. I am not going to go into detail here. But this is a major idea that I will be going with. I also like the idea of blood being involved in the creation of objects infusing it with a certain amount of magic. Could be an interesting take. But only after someone else comes along to do the smithwork. I don’t want this Harry to do the actual smithing.

HP-DG-AP-PN-RG-NR

I don't mind short, mid or long romance in a story. Mid or Long tend seem more "realistic", but not a deal breaker for me. My problem is if the story promises a pairing, but doesn't actually make any progress towards it for more than 700K words. I ran into an MHA fic with Izuku/Itsuka/Ochako as the official pairing, and there's been no progress with it in just shy of 700K words that span the time of pre-meeting All Might, to just before the fight tournament of the Sports Festival. I decided to finally drop it cause the author isn't getting anywhere with the story any time soon. Too bad on the HP/FT front. I've been dying for a good story with that crossover. I can understand though. The HP magic system is a pain in the butt to balance in a crossover. I'd like to see you toss Harry into a Halo story, de aged Harry would be better there I think. Run him through the human-covenant war, and then have that universe run into the ME universe maybe? I'd love to see an HP/Danmachi story before a Ranma cross with that one. There's major potential there I think. Also, I just though of another crossover world for Harry. I can't remember if I ever asked you about your opinion on the Sword Art Online world. I'm about to re-read a good HP/SAO story.

sg

First the general questions: 1. I think you've been doing good on the romance aspect of your stories. I prefer knowing what the pairing(s) will be going into a story myself. I honestly hate stories that have the relationship only come into existence at the end. All build up and no real payoff. It's like reaching the final fight with the big bad and ending the story when the first blow is thrown. Middle of the story so there is still time for relationship fluff to the relationship already existing before the reader comes into the story are what I prefer. 2. Maybe give some time before diving into the setting again. 3. Whichever works best for your creative process. You could try changing it for a set number of months as a test to see how it goes. 4. Don't know 5. I have a slight preference for science fiction settings but I like both. A setting with a mixture in the form of magi-tech or having magic exist are nice. And now onto a few fic specific questions: Bhaalson Remodel: 1. I think you should go ahead with changes to the rules that make sense. 2. Entering the same field as Fate Harry doesn't mean he has to reach the same level of capability or walk the exact same path. 3. Upgradable weapons could be an interesting element. Maybe have them as something only the highest tier of blacksmith can craft as being capable of doing so being a sign of reaching that level. That would limit it to a degree while also meaning such smiths could set up anywhere from the largest towns to a hermit in the middle of nowhere to focus on their craft.

vimesenthusiast

I can't remember if you asked my opinion either, but regardless, I dislike SAO. The plot is okay... but the characters are a bit... meh? Like very, very generic and blah. I wrote up a Ranma as a Villain concept that crossed with it, but that was more a thought experiment than anything else.

HP-DG-AP-PN-RG-NR

Would you like a link to the HP/SAO story I found? It's probably the only good version of an SAO story I've actually found so far. I believe it'd at least be worth your time to check out when you feel like it. I generally agree with you on the SAO world though. I only watched the first 2 seasons of it and never read the manga. It does seem a little bland. The crossover I'm reading kinda fixed that a little? Also, it's kind of a HP/SAO/Ranma crossover if you look at it? wouldn't want to spoil anything if you're interested at all.

Kalen D

Oh and another idea on the Bhaalson Remodel story. You could have something funny happen when Harry tries to enchant his first weapon or item, he ends up making a mistake or perhaps Mystra interferes (he would certainly gain her attention as an otherwordly magic user whose power comes from within rather than her Weave) and he winds up imbuing some of the Weave directly into the item making it gain a snarky intelligence that could be a rich opportunity for humor to be interjected at times. (It could also become a conduit for Mystra to watch over and learn more about the foreign magic user through the Weave bound within it.)

vimesenthusiast

Ehh, sure. Send it to me. I could maybe listen to it via the app at least.

vimesenthusiast

First will say the same thing that I mentioned elsewhere: wasn’t connected to the internet at the time. But I had set up autosave, and… it just wasn’t. VERY strange. One of many issues my laptop was having, some of which were hardware issues. 1. Ah, yeah. Same as I have said before, I hate things not moving forward in terms of development. You won’t find stasis in my stories, unless the sheer pace of violence/other events cause the characters to have no time for it LOL. 2. Huh…agree to disagree on Erza. I will agree with the impact on Jenny and how she uses her magic. I think it was how long it had been since they first met and then she still had an interest/deep feelings for him despite being essentially a one night’s kiss LOL. Her being quick to admit her feelings I think is a sign of her overall character. Fully agree on the Ranger thing. First thing that he will be doing once back in civilization is telling the kings he quits. 3. Ouch. LOL. The carry over will still remain in effect regardless, and I have not changed the basic 4 votes per dollar per story vote for a long while. 4. UGH. Spacebattles can be fun, but yeah, unless you have a name and google/yahoo it, kind of bleh to wade through. 5. DxD… feel like we’ve had this conversation before, so I won’t go into it. MW2. Was recently reminded (hadn’t gotten that far in my reread since I posted these questions) that I had named Laxus as the next master. He’s changed a shit ton in this fic, and while still arrogant and abrasive at times, he’s also supportive and kind of caring. MW3. LOL. Not very much farther for me either. Stopped reading after the seven year gap, stopped watching after the Grand Magic Games BR. 1. Huh… never got into the actual role playing stuff. I um… I tried to read the books based off the games… no. DO NOT RECOMMEND. I do enjoy playing with them though LOL. 2. Yes on Hermione and Fleur breaking the world a bit when they arrive. They will only arrive however as Harry and co. are starting BG2 events. I do like the idea of item creation – specifically item modification really. Specifically through the medium of blood – the magic is in their blood after all, and it’s a connection to Bhaal, their supposed ‘father’. 3. Agreed on the strongholds LOL. I enjoyed that aspect, and wish that there were more mods that built them up more – more mission for them, more people/things to interact with around them. The Paladin’s one was kind of blah in comparison to the druid or Naala’s fortress I do like the idea of performing a Howl’s floating castle maneuver.

vimesenthusiast

1. Arranged marriage? Nabiki in Anything Goes Game Changer is the only one, I believe. Ranma and Margaery were leaning in that direction, but then the Tyrells called her home due to the concerns the Starks were heading for a fall (Ranma: HAH). Could work it into one of the two HP only stories. See our conversation via messages on that. 2. DA will return. It will!!! Hopefully after ATP is finished… maybe. I have done some outlines, but the world building would be immense going back into it. I don’t think HP would work in Fairy Tail, the magic types are way too different. I do love the image you mention though. Hmm… now I’m thinking about it. ‘The Repairman’ LOL. 5.Mecha has it’s place – the Valkyies of Robotech fame. Not the dozens story tall Battlemech variants, although I love them. And their universe. But the combat is too all over the place.

vimesenthusiast

1) Yeah, that is a problem. I can fix it by simply having her be adopted later after Shanks leaves East Blue, and a lot of other bits. 2) This does seem to be the consensus.

Beleriond

1) Didn't know about Nabiki, not that far in that story, so no more spoilers please. 2) Yay! I was mostly just joking, but great to hear! Just let Harry have his unique magic, but don't have him be a power house. Let his strength be in his versatility, while the others are the heavy-hitters. That, or he becomes a holder type mage, with the Elder Wand absorbing all of the spells that have ever been cast through it. Maybe a few other magical items as well. Maybe even Fawks or another phoenix. Phoenixes are basically the perfect companion for emergency situations. Magical adaptation is something you've done before. It is a funny image. If Makarov ever did find a wizard that could repair things for free, he would never ever let them go. To be clear, Ranma's martial arts construction from some stories could also be very attractive to Fairy Tail, but not nearly as much as Reparo. Reparo is just vastly more versatile, faster, and cheaper. 5) Powered armour is fine, my main issue is with giant humanoid robots. There are so many much more efficient forms for a weapon/vehicle.

vimesenthusiast

agreed on humanoid robots. just make no sense. GET TO COVER You foools. LOL. Still I really like the whole inner sphere/clans stuff. Right up until the clan invasion was stopped. Then the world started a slow slide down into the crapper.

vimesenthusiast

2. One of the things I would probably do is announce at the start that I'm throwing out the majority of the arcs. Maybe keep them up until the Tower of Heaven arc, but after that start mixing them the shit up. Have the crew face off against Griomoire Heart instead of Oracion Seis, or have the Seis thing happen almost at the start. Have the assault on Tenrou Island by Acnologia be the ultimate portion. Ignore/change/remove stuff from canon to streamline the story so it's more comedy/romance/action/world building in that order.

You and Beleriond. I'm thinking about it. Maybe can put up a outline at the end of the month to go with Making Waves if my muse on ATP continues to fight me. I've got the battle in the mountains and the arrival of the Asgardians, but Jean's scenes and the events in China... i wanted it chaotic, and now i can't quite organize my own bloody thoughts on it!

3) I have already removed one poll to concentrate on ATP. It hasn’t always worked, but it has let me push if forward. It isn’t quite done yet, but three chapters more? Maybe two? As for Death’s Avenger here is a more detailed response. It was placed ON HOLD until ATP was done because of the amount of world building it would take. I will bring it back into the Patreon Only poll tentatively, to see how much time it will take me to work on, once ATP is done. Looking back, that was my original thoughts on it, and I won’t keep it on hold for the two Ranma fics. If it turns out to take me as long as a Large Story but for a medium story output (25-35,000 words) that will need to be taken into consideration going forward. 5) Magic will continue to have space battles. I wish to do better in showing Harry and Aayla concentrating on the war rather than politics going forward though. BR 1) Yes, if i do remove restrictions, they will come at a cost – Less skill for the new weapons, Shared Burdens removing the inability to use heavy armor. 2) I think I am going to go with the suggestion of potions. Because it makes a lot of sense, and isn’t an area I’ve ever delved into.

1-2) I think that is part of what went wrong in MW. I knew I wanted Erza, but after that it was up in the air, and my muses kept on going in different directions. Usually the romance writes itself, here it was very much spoiled for choice. As for going back to Making Waves, that isn’t going to happen. The most I will do is write up an outline. Unless the outline is good enough to grab more attention than some of the teaser stories/chapters I already have on here, it will not go further. Stallion: 1) Gold was fucking awful. I would need to come up with a slightly different background for Uta. Maybe aging her up a bit, or making her found/adopted by Shanks at an older age – could be on a whim since he’s missing Luffy and Makino? But everyone is say Red is really good, so I will decide after I get a chance to watch it. 2) Douglas Bullet… I might change his background up a bit, make him join forces with Blackbeard. He is going to need a big powerup to make up for Ace having slaughtered the majority of his original. And well… Blackbeard’s Bad Days are not going to stop for the next few arcs.

I like the idea of Imoen having won a stat for her short sword or small bow. Only one though. Good point on the fact he still needs to choose a god, a very good point, in fact. Perhaps I can tie that into the idea of potions, which is one suggestion I am going to go with big time. Lore is going to be the tough part of some of the weapons from the original games. For instance the arrow +3 quivers didn’t have any lore to them. Many of the weapons did, but that kind of thing, which is just as important, don’t. I will need to make up lore for them… or at least the plans to create them.

Beleriond

Don't get the reference, but glad you agree.

1) Yeah, the Harry/Ororo pairing is one of the ones I am proudest of. Frankly the fact Hela was able to come back into the relationship after the Shadows wiped her memories still surprises me, and I love it. But her relationship with Harry is one of the longest burns I have ever written. 2) Maybe I am, although a few of my other patrons agree with some of them. I think I put it best when I told Patrick McDonald Meteer that my muses were at war in MW thanks to how many choices there were. Jenny, the thing about her that bugs me looking back is that while she should have been grateful for Ranma’s help in figuring out a new way to grow/expand her powers, they really only knew one another for one day. Her being so into him after several years strikes me looking back at it as silly. I never intended to try and rewrite the story, outlines were the only thing I was thinking. 3) Hmm… not a bad idea… and waiting till May for the next ATP chapter might let me make it cover the rest of the Invasion arc… which would put it within one chapter of finishing. Making Waves: I was reminded I had Makarov nominating Laxus as his successor in the fic. I hadn’t reread the fic up to that point when I posted these questions. As for the Sabertooth characters, I will bring them in as more background characters. Bhaalson: 1) I don’t want to have the party be able to break their class limitations easily. So just joining up and being able to do it is not going to happen. Each restriction breaking act must be paid for in some fashion. Some big, some small, some permanent, some activated. 2) Maybe on the enchanting, but I will wait on the full rune crafting until, as you say, Hermione and Fleur show up. I instead will have Harry work on four separate areas: combat, potions, leadership, tactics. I intend for this Harry to be both frontline bruiser and a Lord Commander type, with a secondary emphasis in Gods Gift to Food and Potions. 3) I was thinking about the ability to upgrade things. Some of the weapons, sure. But not many. I was just wondering about what medium to use, really. I didn’t want to use the local smith, and I really don’t think Harry should concentrate either. But the god he chooses does need to have an impact… Hmmm…. And yes, it would require unique items and a lot of other things. Stallion: 1) It would require changes to Raffy’s childhood only if I wanted to go with Uta’s canon background. That isn’t the only way to introduce her. 2) I will take your word on the fruit under advisement. Bullet seems to be the quintessential Mid Boss by what everyone else is saying. You want to measure yourself against him, but you don’t care to hear his monologue, LOL.

I do use 365, and the cloud. I am often not connected to the internet though. As for everything else you mentioned, I have done that already. It was just a very weird thing. I also wasn’t using DNS at the time. It isn’t the only issue I am facing with Word – JUST Word. No other programs have issues. Another issue is more prevalent. For some reason when I am typing the words sometimes flicker together? Like two lines will seem to merge or something for a moment, then return to normal. It doesn’t happen a lot, but it is disconcerting when it happens. Couple I advertised? Oh, yeah. I did go through a few months where I was wondering about letting Rias fall by the wayside. But that passed before I stopped put the chapter up into the polls since it was doing so poorly. The next chapter was supposed to have Rias basically forcing Ranam to acknowledge her attraction to him. It won’t be smooth, and she and Saeko will have issues, but it will happen. As for Gabriel… that is going to be harder, and very much a slow burn. But don’t blame me for that one. Blame canon DxD. I think you can take it as a given that none of my stories will ever get to the ‘fill in romance type here’ stage. LOL on the blockhead characters. I remember when I was younger and I thought that kind of thing -one blockhead like Tenchi and multiple girls going after him – was funny. Not so much afterward. The rotation will stay, as will the carry over effect. I suppose I do ask too often about how to run my polls, simply because I want to make certain people are satisfied even if the polls don’t go the way some people want them to. As for Ranma/DC. I will be leaning on Kara and Starfire to bring in sci-fi elements, and Darkseid as the BIG BADDIE. For mid-boss and lower, I will use magic or spiritual stuff. I will be putting up a poll (yes I know LOL) at the end of Horse to see which Ranma fic should take it’s place in the rotation – either GDWHOM, or the Mass/Ranma crossover. MW Ehh? I don’t see a connection between SasUke and Gray. He started off with a small chip on his shoulder over Deliora, but that was gone pretty quickly. I just couldn’t give him as much screen time and character growth as Natsu. Who I also didn’t treat very well. Exactly. Yeah, I needed some other means to get Ranma to the point where he could interact with Fairy Tail. Once he was, the mission should have ended. He should have said, you know what, Wendy likes it here, I like it here, I quit. I didn’t, I fed into the Ranger/wanderlust thing too much. But what’s done is done. Irene is still up in the air in terms of how I am going to write her. We will see. Yeah, I already mentioned that Laxus was chosen in some of my other answers. I was rereading the work to get back into it, and hadn’t gotten that far yet when I wrote out these questions. Gundam story? You mean Robotech? A continuation a few years after the end of this one? Ehh, no, not on my radar. Rewriting was never on my radar either. Just outlines and seeing what people think of them.

Drive was not full. It is practically a new computer. I am running into some other issues occasionally with word. Have tried to fix it, reinstall it. This seems to work on the not autosaving issue, but not the other: the typed words/lines flowing together at times, for some reason. I am not interested in bringing Ranma to Middle Earth for one reason: his personality. One thing I have always tried to keep is Ranma’s ‘everything for the Art manners are for normal people, authority figures have to earn respect’ parts of his personality. He is very much a wild horse, and really would not fit well in Tolkien’s world for how he views everything and his personality. His curse would also be a major issue. BR: racial level limits- I remember those from BG2 and Throne of Bhaal. No, they won’t even show up.

Kalen D

I can understand that regarding Ranma in Middle Earth. I absolutely love your Wild Wolf fic and I guess I am just hoping for another Ranma in fantasy world that isn't anime kind of fic.

Zolkrath

Sounds good! Thank you for the response :) Also, if you are still looking for other places besides ao3 and fanfiction.net for stories you could try Spacebattles. It's a forum website where many different types of fandoms are represented. Although I think (could be wrong) is Worm. Look under the Creative Writing section and go through the filters to make sure you see all the works instead of just one part. There are also original fictions there as well if you want to give those a try. There are also still Marvel crossovers here and there. Might help you with ATP if you find one you like! Hope that helps.

Arkos Sloth

General questions: I prefer to know pairings up-front for first because I tend to filter searches in certain fandoms by them.

Arkos Sloth

I like the thought of separating the polls by fandom. Gives all the fans a guaranteed win every month, no matter their favorite protagonist.

Arkos Sloth

Wattpad, from my understanding from several author friends that serialize original work, isn't that great a platform for traffic generation. There are a lot if good writing communities on Reddit, though. Not sure about fanfics, but it could be worth looking into.

Arkos Sloth

I enjoy both sci-fi and fantasy depending on mood. I am fine with either.

Arkos Sloth

Don't have much of an opinion on Making Waves. I read some of it, but didn't really enjoy Fairy Tale.

Arkos Sloth

Still catching up on Remodel. It'll probably be done before I do at this rate. I've read a lot of litRPG, and gamelit fiction on Royal Road. Power escalation is the bread a d butter in those genres. If handled well, I see no reason introducing new elements to Harry's gamer power would ruin the story. It is literally game breaking by its very existence, after all.

Arkos Sloth

Same idea with the weapons. If the threat scales up to a point where escalation and power up are necessary and don't come across as simply power fantasy for the sake of it, you shouldn't worry about your main character becoming too powerful.

Arkos Sloth

Also, I have never gotten into One Piece. So I don't have an opinion on that fic.

Arkos Sloth

Finally, sorry about all the posts. On mobile and I can't for the life of me manage a paragraph break.

MW 1.girl 2. nobody works good for gm honestly. 3. just recruit the dragon twins normally because they are natsu fanboys plus yukino should be a lucy fan girl. BR i trust you bro =D never gone wrong yet. Stallion- 1. skip them movies content for atleast red because its gotta alot of problems you would have to rewind Luffys childhood a bit plus saving Uta would be hard. 2. as for Bullet if you want a random mini boss before Kaido sure but otherwise without mega plot armor he would wreak everyone eazy.
