During the golden age of comics, Captain America was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 (March 1941). Stan Lee's first published work appeared in Captain America Comics #3 (May 1941) as a short prose story titled, "Captain America Foils the Traitor's Revenge," printed by Timely Comics. Timely Comics was founded in 1939 by publisher Martin Goodman. Timely Comics evolved into Marvel Comics in 1961, and Marvel was acquired by Disney in 2009. It's very cool that Howard Stark (Tony Stark's dad) created a shield made of Vibranium for Captain America to wield. Steve Rogers became Captain America after receiving the super soldier serum. Johann Schmidt also known as Red Skull took the prototype of the super soldier serum, which enhanced his physical abilities but permanently transformed his face into a disfigured, red, skull-like visage. From The Incredible Hulk movie, Emil Blonsky (the Abomination) also takes a different version of the super soldier serum, and his results are unstable. In the opening scene set in Norway, Schmidt uncovers the hiding place of the Tesseract by locating a carved mural of Yggdrasil on the wall. The key to opening the secret compartment holding the Tesseract is a serpent intricately carved at the roots of the tree. This carving of Yggdrasil and its snake acts as a direct mythological parallel: the snake represents Jörmungandr, the Midgard Serpent, which is famously known in Norse mythology. From Thor movie, Thor draws a diagram on a notebook for Jane Foster explaining that the universe is held together by the World Tree, Yggdrasil. Also, from the end credits scene of Thor, Nick Fury has the blue cube which must've been the Tesseract. Christina Ricci is actually not in this movie.
