[POWER-UP PERK] Gundam 0079: Episode Luna II (Patreon)

Not entirely what I had planned for another power-up perk this month, but it's something more from the Gundam pool nonetheless! I will be wrapping up the MS SENKI Reboot series, too, since volume three has been sitting in the "finish me" Photoshop pile. And, if folks are interested at some point, I can probably tackle Kondo's version of 0079 once I finish off his other "oddball" entries. I am constantly amused that he tackles things that no one else bothers.

ABOUT THIS WORK

A full decade before Yoshikazu Yasuhiko would unveil Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, Kazuhisa Kondo was already crafting his own comic adaptation of the original Gundam narrative, serialized across Dengeki Daioh and other manga publications from 1992 to 2005. That work is Mobile Suit Gundam 0079. Having been the very artist who infused Gundam manga with gritty realism and a distinct military edge through MS Senki, Kondo brings a level of combat artistry that is nothing short of riveting. Equally deserving of attention are the original characters and mecha of his own creation that appear throughout the series.

During its original run, Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 made heavy use of narration to condense the episode corresponding to TV series Episode 4, Escape from Luna II, as a means of maintaining the story's momentum. The newly launched Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 Episode Luna II represents an endeavor to revisit that excised portion and bring it to life on the page for the first time. Bridging a span of over thirty years, Kazuhisa Kondo's Gundam 0079 is at long last taking its complete and final form!!
