Oof Bluegill being blunt af 😅 She’s not wrong tho. What was the difference between Tusk and all the other cats before her that suffered?

Lumoseo

ngl as harsh this is on him it is a wake up call he needed :(

lillie

It's not just about hypocrisy, but his "God" and his sister betrayed him. This situation has a way more complex emotions than Bluegill realizes. But, she needs to give him a wake up call from this for sure.

Oof. Harsh, but it needed to be said. Hake was part of a privileged group that actively oppressed and killed innocents, and he didn't accept that until too late. Remember, he continued to believe in the Tide, even when Tusk made her discomfort and valid reasons for hating the Family clear. Hake bent to the Tide's will when it was decided that Ray wouldn't get the burial Tusk wanted. He just lost everything, but he's among cats who have repeatedly had everything taken from them, to the point where they don't have permanent names.

Tori Sol

I feel like the "different" deaths are mostly referring to the cats who serve the Tide, since the Family does so willingly. Still, Bluegill is right. It's a culture where death is always called for.

i’m so curious on how much hake’s feelings will morph the longer he’s a daisy… like bluegill made a point that should resonate with him. we know as of right now hake still believes in the tide but i wonder if that will change? so many doors have opened for his character to shift and i’m here for it

Dogrocks

not gonna lie, as harsh as this is i am glad this is being brought up. we all love hake but he was still more or less compliant with the deaths and suffering of others before tusk. of course there are other things to consider, being betrayed by his own sister for example, but there are some implications with the fact that he’s seeing the flaws in the system and is protesting NOW. after someone he loved was affected. i’m glad bluegill is calling this out.

Oh yeah, it's important nobody forgets that Hake isn't entirely "innocent" and because of the propaganda he grew up in he only cared about suffering of the one HE chose to care about while others didn't deserve to be treated like shit any more just because he didn't know them. At the same time it's important to also remember that Family cats share different amounts of guilt in the suffering of the Daisies and with his compassion I can see Hake using his decency and knowledge about what it was like to see these horrors from a beach cat's perspective to make things better. But first he really needs to process these things and come to terms with how things truly are.

You're totally right. Two cats a month still get sent to the ocean- 24 cats a year die get ripped up by sharks. I had this problem in earlier pages where everyone was like "doesn't Trout feel bad sending a cat to her death for no reason?" And like, no of course not. She does this bi-weekly, the same schedule I get my paychecks LOL
