the difference is trout has a CHOICE if she starves or not. if she goes back to the way her father did things the daisys would be cast out of the hunting grounds (which are pretty much barren either way) and away from the beaches and pool they set up to make sure they have a food source. sturgeon can only do so much on her own—supporting one nursing mother is one thing, but an entire island? woof.

She's so selfish man 😭😭 she'd rather be complicit in death than scared. Being self aware doesnt make it ok. Do u think that pacifying the family will keep u safe?? Do u think the daisies will roll over and let themselves die so you can live peacefully?? At least thresher didn't dangle stability in front of them only to snatch it away. I hope sturgeon puts her in her place and joins the daisy rebellion w hake. The daisies outnumber the family and w Sturgeon helping to lead they'd actually have a shot. Stunning as always Arual ❤️

At this point it feels like Trout is setting herself up to be a worse leader than Thresher. Once the Family realizes Trout will do anything to keep them happy, their demands will likely become more and more unreasonable as long as a majority of them say it. This could be the set up for nasty business like purges of Family cats who aren't zealous enough, raids on the Daisys, or hell, even a continuation of that genocide that Thresher was cooking up (the one that for whatever reason failed).

This is such a good point. What happens when gull demands hakes blood? What about the daisies who joined the family? Will she turn her back on them? Is she taking back the hunting rule? Will trout sit by and watch or encourage the cull for her own safety. How much longer will Sturgeon stand by her and how will she react when Sturgeon eventually turns on her. How long until she loses Skua to a daisy attack? I'm so invested in this comic man it's so GOOD

This whole scene just shows one more time that Trout was never meant to be leader. She just can't take responsibility in general as we could see throughout the whole comic, and especially when she feels that her life is threatened unless she does everything to please the Family, regardless of how horrible would be the decisions she'd have to make for that. She's not a fighter. No wonder she's giving up.
