Kelp definitely seems to have put it together that Egret is her son and alive because of Sturgeon doing some scheming, and I wouldn't be surprised if she's pieced together more than that simply because she is Mother and hears more of what her kids are up to than they realize. I kind of hope Kelp follows Sturgeon out and confronts her about even a little bit of what's happening with Trout. I mean Kelp is old but she might also be old enough to have been around before Thresher got REALLY bad, assuming that he wasn't always as cruel as we saw by the time Trout/Hake were born.
