Question. Are they asking "IS she afraid of him?" Or "is she afraid of him?" I read it initially as they felt sad that Trout was afraid of her dad but re-reading makes me feel like they doubt that Trout is afraid of Threasher and actually might like her dad

Fear or not, no kid wants to see someone die in front of them. Much less their father. Even if Trout hated him, I still think it's perfectly reasonable that she'd panic and call for help just to stop the fighting. And Trout still shouted for Petrel to run so not like she was trying to get Petrel hurt. It almost feels like this is gonna lead into a self-fulfilling prophecy on Petrel's part. I mean, Trout was always kinda indifferent to daisies. But she did like Petrel, and wanted to help them. But Petrel is reading too much into things I think, and we know already eventually they'll try to kill Trout, which definitely damaged Trout's mental health to some extent... But this is just my interpretation of the situation. Am excited to see more revealed!

I got the same vibe! Trout really is just a kid here and Petrel is blaming her already
