Bang on with the costs. Just on the bank account, when I used visa agent to do the 1 tourist extension they offered me the choice to open a Bangkok bank account for 6000 baht so I took it, they do everything for you, just go to bank on the day with agent staff & they seem to know staff there who look after everything. It's handy to have for transferring money from home & possible future retirement visa. Also a fan is a good purchase if you want to bring down the electricity bill, air con properly biggest expense.

I’m 50 and hoping to retire at age 55 with a $4k to $5k a month budget. Social security will kick in at age 65 adding another $2k per month. I think I can live very comfortably on that in Pattaya or Jomtien!
