Can anybody please hear me out there?
I drew a monkey!
I guess I've been hearing a lot of songs about astronauts and space lately. Just cause.
This is and idea I've had for a couple days, recently I saw a video by the youtuber Jacob Geller about fear of the dark in which by the end (And spoilers ahead) a scene is proposed of an astronaut reaching a point so distant in the universe where the light from the stars can be seen but is so far away that it can't illuminate the astronaut himself or his surroundings. And in this scenario, unlike on earth at night, the presence of light on his eyesight would mean nothingness while the presence of darkness would mean the presence of something.
Which is more or less what the lyrics of Wax Fang’s “The astronaut part 1”, from the concept album “The astronaut” about an astronaut who transcends life itself after he is sucked by a black hole, are about.
“The stars don't want to shine on me
It's just a waste of time and energy”
So I really wanted to work that idea of an astronaut so far away from everything that they have been turned darker than the space around them, except for the light that they have brought with them.
I drew a monkey because, well, it's a known and effective trope of course, and I've been monkey pilled latelly.
And here's the silly part. I made the astronaut a woman because while drawing the monkey I added eyelashes for fun. I decided to keep them because I thought to myself, “Damn she kinda hot”.
It's actually not the first time I do this while making up a character and it won't be the last I'm sure.
You can actually see the exact moment when this happens here, as I drew this thing on procreate and I have a time lapse video of it.
Actually that's another reason for me to draw this. I've been using my iPad and procreate to work on things but I haven't really done a whole complete thing on it in a while. And I thought this would be a good one to do there.
I also add the timelapse video on the attached files
