This is one of those features that has been requested many times and I'm happy to report that it's coming in 3.28 (and PoE2 next league).

My filter comes in 7 strictnesses. This is a concept that has existed for years.

It's time to spice it up. In this post I'll give you a breakdown of:

What's coming

Why it's useful for you

A bit of a technical insight on how it works behind the scenes!

Let's dive right in!

TL;DR: Custom mix-and-match strictness is coming, plus 3 new ultra-strict tiers. Help me name them!

So here's the big new feature: You can now mix and match strictnesses!

Here are some use cases:

Uber-Plus-Strict filter, but... currencies and uniques are Strict

Very Strict filter, but Semi-Strict leveling

Preserve all fractured and memory-stranded items, while hiding all other gear and crafting bases.

(work in progress screenshots, the sliders are work-in-progress and will receive more polish)

It's important to note that you can change these anytime, not just when you start creating your filter!

ALSO: There are now 3 extra strictnesses beyond Uber-Plus-Strict (names pending). These are designed to be ABSURDLY strict.

Uber+2 Strict will hide chaos orbs and items that can easily be worth 5–10 chaos.

Uber+3 Strict will hide 'annulment tier' items

Apex Strict will hide 'Exalted' tier items. ONLY Tink-drops and truly exotic items show!

Do you have suggestions for the names? I'm not 100% happy with the current naming — outside of Apex Strict, maybe.

These features intended for crazy leagues like Affliction (or the PoE2 temple), magic-find parties, or if you just want to focus on the big-ticket items and have a clean screen otherwise.

It should be noted that these are only available on FilterBlade through the 'Customize Strictness' menu (they're dangerous, niche and I'm also out of slots on my PoE profile).

For those who wonder how this works internally:

I develop the filter in a custom programming language (.exo) that I wrote specifically to have a high-quality tool for designing filters. The language comes with a lot of safeguards, abstractions, and other tooling.

Most rules are equipped with a strictness tag, such as %H6 — an instruction that hides the rule at strictness level 6. Other tags can enable rules, modify their appearance, and more.

This also makes it very easy to adjust tiering. If something needs to become stricter, I can change a rule from %H3 to %H2 and suddenly that rule is hidden on Strict instead of Very Strict.

Additionally, I use a system of 'waypoints' that slice the filter into sections. These can be used to enable/disable groups of rules, and FilterBlade also uses them to insert new rules in safe locations.

Anyway, tell me 3 things:

What do you think about the feature? Do you want different 'clusters' for custom strictness settings?

What's your best take on the names of the extended strictnesses?

How hyped are you for the upcoming league?? Because my body is SO ready for 3.28!

Thank you for your support. More teasers to come.

How about simple word escalations? Uber → Ultra → Omega → Apex If you add even stricter tiers they can just go “Zeta / Transcendent / etc” Ultra Strict → hides Chaos orbs & items that are easily 5–10c (the “I still want some currency but not the trash” tier) Omega Strict → hides ‘annulment tier’ items (the “only actually good stuff survives” tier) Apex Strict → ONLY Tink-drops + truly exotic items (the psychopath/MF-god tier)

Wow! Very nice. I am really looking forward to separate strictness on Currency xD I am not really a fan of adding numbers to names, I would prefer unique names, maybe something like heroic, godlike, ultimate... or some funny stuff like "no time for this", "clear view", "i am not picking", "im in hurry" :) Thank you for all the work! See you in the game in 5 days :)

Dupdidu

Absolutely love it. Not good with names but think it’s a nice implementation!!! Keep it up !! Having said that - a Hardcore filter / section with price check would be awesome !!!

I'm amped for the new league. I'm happy to see some shakeups in the end game finally. I'm going to miss Harbys, and I hope they return soon. Strictness Tier (re) names, with current names in parenthesis: Very Low (Soft) Low (Regular) Medium (Semi-Strict) Normal (Strict) High (Very Strict) Very High (Uber Strict) Extremely High (Uber +1) Pinnacle (Uber +2) Uber (Uber +3) Apex (Apex) The concept is to treat them more naturally as strictness strength. It's a bit unusual conceptually for it to be positioned like "I'm using very strict strictness for my filter ." It's more natural to think "I'm using high strictness for my filter." This also moves Uber closer to the actual end, where it should be, instead of adding numbers to the end. This would of course cause some initial user confusion. But adding new tiers is a solid time to revamp the naming structure if you're ever going to do it. You could reword the slider description to say "STRICTNESS TIERS - how aggressively the filter hides items" (or leave it as-is.)

Patricia

What about strictness called like Brutus Merveil Weaver Oversoul Piety Dominus Kaom Malachai Innocence Kitava With the major stricness levels being the act bosses and intermediates being other major unique bosses from the same act.

Really hyped for the new league, literally can't enjoy any other games rn because of how hyped I am. Also hyped for this filterblade update, it's huge! I hope this wouldn't be too specific and difficult, but for all the trade league deli farmers out there, could you add a cluster jewel slider? It's one of the things that I configured a lot in each filter variety, it would be nice if I could choose some high strictness variant that would only show clusters within the "top enchantments" category. As for the namings, I would personally go for something similiar to what another guy said in the comments, so: Uber -> Hyper -> Ultra -> Omega -> Apex If you want to keep the Uber-plus name, just replace "Hyper" with it. Or whatever you feel like sounds the best, it's your filter after all :D Cheers and thanks for all the hard work

i think the easiest way to understand the tiers for people would be to name it after the currency it hides, something like: Uber No Chaos, Uber 10c+, Uber No Annul, Uber Tinks

JR Heard

seems awesome. simpler names are better imo.

JR Heard

i think this suggestion is great, +1

Meerkats

I think this is great. If the league is out of hand with easy access rares, I want to turn off basically anything not an accessory and I always get bogged down in the bases and all the different things in there. I end up super lost a bunch of the time. Also I'm a time wasting nerd and I love rare abyss jewels, don't at me. So I've been managing my strict level manually.

Brandon Bridges

I think the ability to fine tune different parts of the filter awesome. The added strictness & customization will be quite useful. I think Omega could be a good addition. Alternatively, the standard F-S, SSS, or S++ are good system. Could be fun to shake things up with Giga, or something like Uber Galaxy. New league looks like it'll be a ton of fun.

Baleful

Assuming the implementation is good, this could be the best feature you’ve ever added. I’m not gonna sugar-coat it: your baseline strictness levels are completely un-usable. I have never made this complaint because I felt it was too harsh, and that you are already doing all that you can. Each league, somewhere around yellow maps, I want to see less rare equipment. I increase my strictness, only to find that “bread-and-butter” currency is now hidden. Stacks smaller than 3 of alteration orbs, for example. Countless such examples make it so that none of the default strictness levels are usable without extensive tinkering and re-tiering each league. If you nail this feature, my work tuning a filter each league will be a fraction of what it is now - and I will increase my Patreon tier.

Mason Elmore

This is amazing! I tend to gradually customize my filter soon after reaching maps with the Very Strict preset. I'm curious if this level of granularity will be enough to satisfy my needs, or if I'll still have to dig into specific configs. Either way, I'm sure this will make the process a lot easier.

unazweer

+1 for the Strictness Tier names, if there is a need to change them, they should be named like this. It's super easy to understand them !!!

Xebtria

oh brother, what a banger of a feature, I did not see that coming but secretly I have been waiting for this for years. regarding the names for the new strictness levels, how about this uber strict (the currently existing uber strict) → ultra strict → absolute strict → ultimate strict → apex strict

NeverSink

I like this, but it also has the most collateral, can't do this short-term. I'd like to establish a new baseline first. However, this may be the right long-term choice

NeverSink

Thanks, unfortunately default strictness preferences are one of those very controversial topics. It's also tricky, because players with 1 month and 10 years of experience are using the same filter. I may make a longer post or youtube video about that. Either way, I'm reviewing the strictness progressin a bit for this league, I hope you'll find it better.

Xebtria

I think the fact that people with 1 month and 10 years experience use the same filter is the whole reason of this controversy, and this very feature might actually solve this. less experienced players are picking up more rares for longer, while more experienced players (I think) are hiding most rares after day 1. maybe you could also do a survey on the player base to get that exact information, how long people show and or want to see how much of what item type (rares, currencies, fragments etc), although given the complexity of the itemization and thus also the filter, that survey might be a big one. but if that information is there, you could even get some... "meta settings" like "player experience: beginner, intermediate, professional, top 1%" and "timepoint in league: day 1, week 1, month 1, late-league" and then preset certain strictnesses, so people that don't want to manually adjust the filter in detail could still get a somewhat fitting filter for their preferred experience. but that is just my brain spitting out random ideas, I have no idea how feasible or even useful this would be at the end of the day.

DarcLight

I like the idea of the mix-and-match strictness because i wanna reduce the amount of bad rares on screen but I'm a currency hoarder. Yes i even collect shards.

DarcLight

accidently sent the comment instead of using a new line..... Usually I use strict/very-strict filter and heavily adjust the parts I still want to be shown. So this new feature might make it easier/faster to adjust. I'm looking forward to mirage. I like mechanics that can be done in map and don't interrupt the mapping after a few maps to clean out a resource. Additionally that mirage mechanic can power up other mechanics is something i'm looking forward to. On the other hand: RIP Harbingers.

> Usually I use strict/very-strict filter and heavily adjust the parts I still want to be shown. So this new feature might make it easier/faster to adjust. You can still do that, I think this just provides a way better starting point. It's very similar conceptually to the auto-adjust feature from last league(s), but targets a different slice. You can also change the strictness later on without losing your changes. I want to give users the options to get a major part of their config done, with minor effort.

CoReLiZzard .

Hello Neversink thanks for your dedicated work!! What do you think about: … Uber-Strict > Super-Strict > Mega-Strict > Ultra-Strict > Apex-Strict ? MfG 🙋🏼‍♂️👍🏻

Jadran

I love this approach, I think this is something I never knew I needed but will definitely use it.

Brian Smith

what about a slider for gold stack sizes?

Baleful

Yes, that’s the main reason I haven’t made a complaint in the past. Making the tiering “correct” for me will just mess it up for someone who likes how it is currently. This discussion has me thinking - what if you added extra dimension of pre-set customization? A dropdown or slider with different pre-set tier arrangements. Same tiers as normal being affected the same by strictness settings, but with items appearing in different tiers than normal. There could be some pre-made configurations and an option to create your own pre-sets that you can switch between at different points in a given league. Work is crazy today so I don’t have time to make this more concise but I think it makes sense haha. Edit: just watched the YouTube video, and the feature looks great. Increasing my patron tier now 🤝🔥
