Clegane (GOT Season 1-8 enjoyer)

This show is really weird, because a lot of the book lore they have kept in doesnt make for good TV. I think my only real problem is that i want more I want to feel more attached. Most characters dont have extensive backgrounds in the book. But not having real adversity (that would need to be made up by the writers room) has shown to create distance between the viewers and the characters. This should be 5 seasons and 12 episodes a season easily. edit: I don't understand the off screen deaths of some people in this show its like an extra 2 minutes would add so much... (Jason Lannister, Ser Lorent Marbrand, Helaena Targaryen, Kat) Where is Rhaneryas old council? The men in the first episode that capture aegon belong to Alfred Broome. Where are Rhaneryas other 2 kids? Where is Rhaena? No Alicent? So many loose ends feels likw a mid season finale.

The reason why Rhaenyra sacked Mysaria is Mysaria kept advocating peace while Daemon advocated war all season. The news of Aegon shattered her own image of continuing her father's peaceful reign (also her own believe of being the prophesied one), hence picking Daemon's war side. Whatever Mysaria said to her all season made everything worse, in her mind, because Aegon literally rose from the dead. Edit: Also the brief scene with Mysaria talking to Helaena in the courtyard is actually one of the 3 given accounts of Helaena's death. It said the lady Mysaria whispered in Helaena's ear and made her jump to her death. Whatever was said was unknown. Condal is just giving a little nod to the book account.

Im getting pretty good at seeing a scene and just knowing that it will end up being pointless and a waste of screen time. Lesbian scenes? Waste of time. Getting lost in the red keep tunnels? Waste of time. The last supper with dead gold cloaks? Waste of time. Im willing to bet the alys revelation will also end up being pointless and a waste of time.

Michael

Don’t understand this reaction. Episode was really good imo.

Rhaenyra causing Haelenas death is my 13th reason why. Not team black or team green. I am now Team Oscar Tully, swim little fish swim.

Justin Taylor

Also side note, Rhaenyra had all the potential to be a good and strong ruler, but she spent so little time actually preparing to rule because she was focused on her own wants and scared that people wouldnt accept her as queen "was right but still" she could have better prepared for matters of court, diplomacy and strength. Which is why I wish the show would have started earlier in the timeline, could of had 6 seasons of King Jaehaerys, the most goated king and story in my opinion, would have laid out the contrast between his rule, Viserys rule, and then Rhaenyras.

After a rewatch cool battle i guess. Ending was bullshit. We got a whole lot of nothing this season like this could have been mid season. Aegon was my highlight there. I guess aemond is supposed to give him the sword back like he just has it? See you in two years. Fuck

armday

So helena doesnt want to get an abortion as a whole episode then kills herself off screen just weirdly inconsistent

Lalo Salamanca

I’ve really liked this season… more fulfilling than the end of last season imo. Shame it’s a 2 year wait though. We’ll get pay offs for the loose ends next season. I think a lot of people let their speculation become their expectation with shows like this.

My biggest problem is that even if they took good book stuff into the show, they still made it less than what was hoped for. Daeron's knighting useless, cause he dared nothing. They started good with the gullet and the taking of kings lading, even If I dont agree with everything they cut out there, but after that it felt like pure writer imagination. Characters act out of their supposed character and then if they act like their book character people dont recognize it, cause they've been acting out of place the entire time. Like Alyn is the complete opposite of his book part. That he kills the high septon is one of the rare moments how his book version would act, cause he is deeply proud of his valyrian heritage and wouldnt give a fuck about the high septon.

Well as a book reader who has had some issues in the recent weeks with the show, i personally fucking loved this episode

calum1

This episode was definitely not as bad as you thought I really enjoyed it

klaire

my reactions are my opinions, and not everyone’s opinion is the same. i’m glad you enjoyed the episode!

klaire

i thought there were awesome moments, i just think it’s very inconsistent. unfortunately for me this episode was a let down

TThxlxnge

This episode felt a lot like season 8 episode 5 when Daenerys burns kings landing. Idk if that was done on purpose or not, but if they did it didn’t hit at all, one of my least favourite episodes in game of thrones and felt the same watching this episode, just much confusion and not much resolution

TThxlxnge

I don’t know how to feel about Helaena too, like I think her character is very interesting and unique but now it just feels completely wasted and like the majority of visions and fascination with certain animals is pointless, I thought at least some of it would tie together or make sense in the end

TThxlxnge

Honestly all this season has done has shown me why daemon was so pissed not to be named heir to the throne, bc CLEARLY he was the best candidate based on everything we’ve seen this season

Joel Quinn

Calling this episode good is something. That episode was all over the place, with meaningless things happening everywhere, comical battle scenes, and half-assed scenes around Kings Landing and other places. Even such a reveal like in Harrenhal was just so bad and side content, wtf. The scene with the High Septons - just stupid - but ok, it's a stupid queen. Could not even enjoy the Northmen, just overacted bs.

Michael

Ur prob a book reader and will hate it on regardless. All good. We have different opinions @joel

Tsuchinoko

The battle was cool especially the northmen running around looking for death but "Nothing happens" seems to be a constant in this show. And the butterflies at the end felt like a middle finger to George R R Martin.

CaveMan

the problem for me with this show is that i'm not invested in any characters. GoT, i really liked some characters and really hated others. This show, i really couldn't care less and that is down to the writing. The show could be jam packed with action, but it has zero impact if there is no character investment

Tom2113

'Are we seeing a nutsack?!’ it's like that Inbetweeners episode all over again 🤣

Jonathan Blaze

Great episode! This season was up then down then the finale was awesome. Great scene with Aegon and Aemond. Rhaenyra looked amazing in the chainmail. so eerie now that in episode 5 Alicent told Helaena "The window will have to do". Best finale of the series so far! Hope we don't have to wait 2 full years for season 4. I still think season 1 is the best season, being consistent from start to finish. But season 3 was definitely better than season 2. I always thought that what Joffrey said in GOT won't happen exactly like he said. There will be a twist to it or completely different. Like the histories will say Laenor died in his parents' hall put in the fireplace. But we know he escaped and went to Essos. I think something like that will happen and it won't be like what Joffrey spelled out to Margery in GOT.

Joel Quinn

I'm not. I've read asoiaf, nothing else. I just don't like mediocre uninspired content with nonexistend buildup. I still can find joy in Action/Battle scenes but only If they make those somewhat compelling and believable. And not like, hey why don't you storm the walls and open the door for us. That makes it stakeless useless garbage plus uninspired scenes and a total mess of in general. I call it lack of quality, you maybe different taste, whatever.

DeathSwitch

You know, Jon Roxton calling Daemon a babe killer when his side just lined the castle wall with children really was lost on me at the time. Daemon also never ordered a baby to die. What a clown

Linus Marjeta

Yea, because Roxton was there to hear the explicit orders of Daemon.. Totally..

DeathSwitch

I mean he wasn't there to say he definitely gave that order either.. which was kinda my point. We can literally SEE the children being placed on the walls of the castle as human shields. Roxton is a hypocrite

David Walker

I think Helaena’s dream from last episode brought her a lot of dread bc there was no good in the coming future, she’ll have to use her dragon to kill ppl in a war she doesn’t want to fight in or she escapes and gets her farm with chickens but then the long night comes for her and her children. Ofc she doesn’t know that it won’t come for another 100 years but she felt everything was pointless so she decided to end it

David Walker

Oh no, it’s a let down that you’re let down😭 first watch I didn’t kno how to feel about it as a finale but I think I like it more rewatching and getting more context with scenes. I think they handled rhaenerya decent to madness a lotttt better than Dany’s with her need of seeking validation being her crux

Maxim BK

The simplest explanation is that this was episode 6 rather than the episode 10 finale. The early episodes of S3 felt more like a finale than this did. I think greed and arrogance ruined what could have been, and ever since Miguel Sapochnik left after S1, the quality went downhill for me. While it's true some characters did not have enough to do during this time period, there were still plenty of events and character arcs to build before a proper conclusion here. Not sure what to expect out of S4 now (being the last) since there are still events, and they rushed some while dragged others rather awkwardly. Now ironically I have no idea how they're going to depict everything in one last season of 8 (or rather 6?) episodes... GoT S5 - S8 vibes all over (at least those did not have enough source material, but here they got literally a wiki...).

opromlie

Yeah it was dumb from Viserys to ban Daemon he was next in line it was his birthright and got kicked out for small things that was just petty. Non of this would have happened if Daemon was king no hightower bs nothing
