Like see now I feel girlies are just doing it because they think it looks fun and sexy to get up at 2 in the morning to go buy a fucking ugly tshirt for more than it’s worth. I saw a post earlier that was like “oh being in line for merch at 430 is just part of being a swiftie!!” ?????? NOT MY PRESIDENT!!!!!!! NOOOTTT MY REALITY LMFAO. This tour is BONKERS. Like it’s insane the way people are behaving. I think it’s part proving you’re a ”real” swiftie, part greediness, part headassery. Anyone buying mass amounts of it just to sell it at 2x the price is a real one like YESS scam on these girlies!!!! SCAM THEM!!!

I truly cannot wrap my mind around this behavior. All for a $75 100% cotton crewneck....

Lightskin Jason Derulo

I am fully convinced taylor swifts team came up with the faded drab visuals for midnights just so they can print cheap looking shit without people being suspicious.

Hannah T

Why can't people just be normal and show up a little before doors open?? There was no problem with that smh

Swiftyourbitchen

As a 33 yr old grown as woman, I cannot fathom why anyone would do this. Do they think it's a flex? Because it is whatever the opposite is...

Meghan Corban

now let’s be honest this kind of behavior is literally just for attention and for content (esp coming from her). but aNyWaYs I don’t understand why people are camping out for like one sweatshirt and a quarter zip too …… can’t you get everything else online???? It’s not like they have a million tour exclusive merch items!! camping out overnight for a CREWNECK that’s gonna get ruined the first time you wash it is mental illness luv

Cardigan

This is so strange like how is it worth it?!? I found so much better stuff on etsy that I would rather buy. How do we expect UMG to give us better merch if people are this obsessed with buying it? like most of it it on the Taylor website anyway.

Abby

i’ve heard that online merch doesn’t get ruined in the wash so im completely skipping that hell on wheels truck at my show this weekend and ordering online!

Lindsay

I just don’t understand how all these jobless people with the time to do this shit can afford $70 sweatshirts!! Must be nice to be unemployed and wealthy!

mia

the merch is soooo ugly but too like do these people have lives??? jobs???? families???

bloop

this feels like because tickets are so hard to get for everyone there’s not as much you’re going to X amount of shows (although there’s still plenty of that) like there was on previous tours, so people have transferred that onto merch discourse? plus I guess merch, despite costing $$$ for shitty products, is still a cheaper alternative to tickets so it’s more accessible to swifties who aren’t going. It’s all about being part of the exclusivity club but literally for what? a badly printed $45 tshirt that’s been made on the fly to cope with demand?

Mia Bates

For me to queue up more than an hour for merch.. Taylor would have to be handmaking and selling them herself

hannah

i am taking the day off for my show but i will be damned if i waste my hard earned pto in a godforsaken merch line!!! i’m getting there early to suck down lavender haze lemonades and bad blood sangrias, not fight to the death for a paper thin crewneck.

Indi

I feel like I'm much too old to understand what the hell is going on this tour. CORE MEMORY? BE SRS!

Mr. Watermelon

Not really about the post but I hate when someone say "you have to pROvE that you are a swiftie" or "you said (different opinion or constructive criticism) and that means you're not real Taylor fan" like what is the definition of being a fan nowadays? Do I have to sell my kidney to buy ugly merch and praise everything about artist to be a "certified" fan. I don't think so but if that makes them and their bank account feel better than good for them I guess.

RiLee Andros

this is so fucking wild bc the merch is NOT EVEN CUTE!!!! i fear the love on tour girlies romanticized camping out too much and now the swifties want to join in but there’s nothing to camp out for (no pit or GA!!!) so they camp out for merch just to feel something??? COULDNT BE ME

Sar Sar

Apparently they’ve just set a limit on 2 of each item / 10 items max 😭 I wonder if they’re already selling out?

Emily Joy

I was so excited to get a tour shirt, but honestly?? If it comes at the price of planning to spend hours in line on show day, I don't want it. I'm going to be shopping around Etsy for fan designed merch, instead. And if I really have fomo about missing official merch, I'll just get one of the ugly things online and never wear it, ha.

Lydia Atsma

If it were like the rep merch I'd understand. But....it's nowhere near rep merch levels.

Diego Felipe Tassara

imagine telling your kids about that time you camped out for merch that don’t last through a single wash bfr

Nitya Kadambi

We have reached unsustainable levels of Taylor swift hype….there is NO reason to camp out for poorly made merch. This fandom is so embarrassing sometimes I can’t deal lol

Victoria weisheit

Im not sure even good merch could make me act like this..

Melina

Coronavirus really did a number on people 😂

Etel

I genuinely think that these people are so used to camping from harry styles concerts they consider it an essential experience... the tiktokification after the pandemic is ruining the whole concert culture istg

lychee-martini

so much of that is just to profit on mercari -- I m looking forward to the moment when the greedy UMG team just releases the same merch on the TS store and the merch scalpers are stuck with their not-so-special sweatshirts. But i do feel sorry for the Swifties who would have paid 300 bucks for a sweatshirt, which, in the end, was only special because of supply/demand issues.

Leah

Camping out for concert merch is buffoonery. It’s a fucking tshirt emily get a grip!!!!!!!

Elena Gerhardy

Tangental but the term ‘core memory’ is getting completely out of hand- I see it used so often used for such mid experiences.

Mary Paige

It’s absolutely insane. There is no reason esp with all the tweets and TikTok’s about the merch fading on first wash like??????

Vrishti Hasija

Looks like she caught covid lol 😆

Molly Larson

Like, I know I'm mentally ill, but this is some whole other shit 🤣

Erin Houghton

The new fans think camping out for merch (or owning a ton of merch in general) is the ultimate swiftie experience or how they show just how “big” of a swiftie they are. But the fact of the matter is, the “experience” of camping out for merch does not compete with the experience of crying on the floor to the wildest dreams/enchanted mashup about a situationship, dancing around your room to holy ground when you realize it’ll all be ok again, and realizing while listening to lover (the song) that the guy you’re dating is “the one”… these are all REAL experiences I’ve had being a Taylor Swift fan. I don’t own much merch beyond like tour t-shirts and CANNOT imagine CAMPING OUT for ugly merch that was definitely made in sweatshops, but I DARE these new merchie swifties to tell me that I’m not a “real” swiftie lmao. I’m not sure where we went wrong (and this is a fandom issue as a whole not just with swifties in particular) but being a fan should be about connecting with the music, and I don’t see how camping out for unsustainably made merch falls in line with that

Melon

Ok, but truly can someone explain to me why people do this when she's selling the same shirt on her merch site?! Is it just instant gratification?

Julia A

This is kinda off topic but the Taylor Swift merch convo in and of itself is absolutely wild to me (especially with the ridiculous number of merch collections she drops). I did some research and it seems her products are merchandised by the company Bravado, which is a subsidiary of UMG. Bravado seems to be an absolute giant in the ‘artist merch’ space and has a huge global distribution system and is basically a fast-fashion company. Having access to all these resources def explains how her team is able to churn out collection after collection, especially since she knows a large majority of fans will buy anything no matter the quality. Idk the whole thing is icky to me especially since we all know she’s gunning for billionaire status. It’s crazy to me that people would get up at like 2am for basically a $65 forever 21 crewneck!!!

Brenda Person

I think she gave up a lot of control when she signed with UMG because her stipulation for the contract was that she wanted to own her music, so with that she had to give up other freedoms she (and we) enjoyed with BMG. The (boring/ugly) drop ship merch, countless remixes, the push for multiple album sales per fan (like the Lover Diaries, various Folklore versions, Midnights Clock, etc.) I think she made a deal that served her wants at the time, but then it left the fans with the shit end of the stick.

shannymac

ALERT ALERT SETLIST CHANGE!!! She’s playing the 1!!!

Bre Mercadefe

Personally I will want a tote bag (I don’t have tickets but some of my besties are going so I’m gonna ask them to get for me) and a sweater and a t shirt. But I don’t think I’ll be doing that. Hopefully it all get figured out by the time your gets to LA
