First - Karma remix featuring Miss Ice Spice!!!!
Second - Till Dawn edition, which she is smooshing Hits Different onto (a rewriting of history but we rock anyway because at least she will FINALLY BE ON STREAMING!!), and featuring a brand new mix of Lana where she will actually be allowed to approach the microphone instead of being in the next room whispering.
Third - the clinically insane edition of Midnights that she is releasing EXCLUSIVELY to the rats of NYC and NJ at the show at Metlife this upcoming weekend. I have my suspicions that she will do a broader release of it on her site, and also stick the bonus track You're Losing Me on streaming, but the question is...when?
There's lots of chitter chatter about Ice Spice as a choice for this remix, being that Matty (her new Boy Toy as Mason calls him) came under fire for giggling at some less-than-cool jokes about her on that shitty podcast he was on. He did kinda sorta not really apologize for that. But a lot of people are reading this as an attempt at damage control, or giving Ice Spice a bone, or trying to "cover it up" or in someway make up for it. I don't really like to think of it that way, if only because this has probably been in the works for longer than Matty and Taylor have been public, and also, I like to think Taylor is just supporting a female POC artist that she thinks is fucking awesome.
However....choosing to make a limited edition CD available only to ticketed concert goers that features a brand new never before heard song while giving no indication whatsoever of just how many copies they may have and when they are liable to sell out., while being WELL AWARE of the fact that camping just for the shitty merch is OUT OF CONTROL enough as it is already...well...that just feels like capitalizing on an already embarrassing situation to make some coinage. And maybe I am just salty because random people in New Jersey get to hear a new Taylor song while nobody else does, but this just feels like her ENCOURAGING the gross psycho behavior of fans to camp and SPEND, SPEND, SPEND their money after they've already spent god knows how much on the tickets themselves. Not to sound too negative. But I'm not loving the optics on it. I guess in the end it is just good clean fun, but my mind always tends to go to what the real angle on it is. I have to say, good on her for making it a ticket holder event only. If not, there would be scalpers for THAT shit, too.
What do you guys think?
