what’s so interesting is that you’re so right that taylor filled a gap in country music. my first thought when you said that is that ALSO she wouldn’t have been able to fill any gap in pop music without doing country first

On the Max Martin thing, I think that demanding writing credits is the real issue for Taylor rather than the money, music snobs like Damon Albarn have this belief that anyone who works with Max Martin doesn't write their own songs and Max does everything for them, while that is likely true for many artists Taylor is not one of them, but because Max has a writing credit on that song ppl assume it was all Max, I've seen many ppl on reddit say that Max Martin writes Taylors songs. I think Taylor is really sensitive about that and is very protective of her work which is why she responded really publicly and quite viciously to what Damon Albarn said about her and honestly rightfully so imo.

I think its really funny and telling that Max has a writing credit on Shake it off yet when she got sued over it claimed he had nothing do do with it.
