I empathize with the group incest situation. I had two couples that were roomies in the apartment above me that all broke up in a big blow up when it turned out there were two different secret triads going on at the same time. The blow up at the end was fun to listen to but everything in between was super annoying.

I used to only have friends who didn’t know each other or like a couple of them who did but we weren’t a “group”. But since meeting my partner 5 years ago I’ve been absorbed into the group that he’s in which is like 20+ people and honestly it is such a headache some times. Especially when the childish people get annoyed that they’re not included in ever single little tiny thing!!!!!! I love most of them individually but I’m about to leave the chat haha

So about straight men and Taylor Swift: when I saw the Eras tour there was an empty seat beside me and then a straight man accompanying his lady. He was on tiktok and doing merch runs through the show EXCEPT Red. Not even reputation. When 22 started this man was UP out of his seat paying attention, and he was in his feelings at ATW10. So maybe Red is the gateway.

great advice! I also have individual friends I met through work, school and community social groups. Most of them are not mutual friends. I learn so much from each of them since they’re unique in backgrounds and perspectives. A friend’s group gathering is fun, but not a calm space to share in-depth topics. There’ll always be a few who dominate dinner / movie choices. And there’ll also be misunderstandings (broken telephone) that may boil into rumours and uncomfortable or even bitter gossips. A group can quickly become a peer pressure cooker.

Good for you! A song or album can’t please everyone and it’s ok. Just like people have their fav food. Only healthy respectful relationships can last. Whatever music you’re comfortable with. There’s no need for neither of you to change the other person’s hobby / passion / interest. Best wishes! (^_^)
