Chapter 1 Update (Marionette) (Patreon)
Content
I thought it had been awhile since I had an update of the first issue of my upcoming comic. So I thought I share with you!!
The process is slow but that is to be expected, considering I’m doing all this by myself, with no assistance to help me cut down the work time. I’m about 16pgs in total, with about 5pgs still in the sketch process while 10pgs are penciled and only 1pg with line work and final details.
It’s a little rough because essentially you’re redrawing each page THREE TIMES, sometimes even more if a panel is not quite how you hoped so you gotta start over.
So I’m doing the best I can. I’m trying not to worry too much about getting TOO detailed, you know? I can save intricate details for spreads and chapter covers and volume covers. Because the more detail put into it, the more work it puts on you.
Which is probably why it’s better I’m doing this digitally and not traditionally. That would add so much more work time on top of it. Doing this traditionally would have been fun but unless I had a couple of assistants helping me with linework, lettering, and special effects, it doesn’t seem... plausible for me to do for many reasons.
So here are some sneak peaks of my process and what you will be seeing in the first chapter. I can’t wait to have the first chapter finished so I can share it with you all and, in the near future, have printed copies to sell when conventions are safe again!
