Dear Patreon friends,

I am happy to share with you the latest addition to the Pals collection: The Festive Grinch! This 3D printable design captures the classic essence of the Grinch in my classsic Pals pose but with a festive twist that I'm sure you'll love.

In the Grinch's belly, I've created a perfect space that houses a heart illuminated by a small LED candle. Imagine the warm and cozy atmosphere this detailed touch brings to your holiday setup. Additionally, you'll find a gift and some Christmas stockings, iconic elements that complete the festive scene.

I've executed several versions of this design to give you options that suit your preferences. The first one has the cavity for the LED candle in the belly, while the second removes this space for those who prefer a more solid version. And to add an extra touch of holiday charm, the third version transforms into an adorable Christmas ornament.

During testing, I used PLA printed on the Bambu X1C printer in different configurations, both in a single color and multicolor. The result is simply stunning!

It's important to note that, to fully enjoy the heart's illumination, I recommend removing the lining from the LED candle before placing it in the designated space, as this is a crucial detail to ensure a perfect fit in the confined space.

I'm eager to see your creations and how you incorporate this Festive Grinch into your holiday celebrations. As always, your ongoing support on Patreon means the world to me and inspires me to continue creating designs that brighten your lives.

Happy printing and happy holidays!

David Long

what candle did you use?

Koza Design

its the same as the Reindeer, its a classic tealed candle light I got on amazon some time ago. I posted two images as reference

David Long

Thank you.Sorry i have been sick all week so i didnt catch that one

David Armour

Thankyou,Thankyou,Thankyou!!!

Koza Design

At the bottom there is a space to place it.

Mike Sprague

is the "hole" for the Tea Light version suppose to go all the way up threw the heart? When I slice it in Orca it closes it off before the heart. I can send pics via Instagram

Koza Design

I made the design this way to avoid having to add supports to the bottom, however the center of the roof of the hole will be printed with a single layer as if they were bridges. This way you can place the candle and it will be easy to cross that wall with the tip of the led

Mike Sprague

Ok, are you suggesting poking a hole in it, to stick the led light in there? And won't the overall open space need supports?

Koza Design

Yes, in that way you don't need to add supports to the hole. And as it will be a thin roof you can just push the candlelight to cross the roof and it also will help to hold the led. Note, I remove the led cover.

Escrich

OK, OK, OK... now it´s the most wonderful time of the year... jajaja Thank youuuuu!!

Escrich

Yo think in uploading some multiparts for the bauble (Non Bambu) version?? It would be great!

Rebecca GQ

Super chulo ya estoy calentado motores para hacerlos jiji

Gege

oh le grinch trop beau <3

James Ross

so maybe I missed something, but what is the difference between the bambu and generic 3mf files? For instance, there is a Grinch 01 FS Bambu and a Grinch 01 FS Generic. When looking at both files, I am not seeing a difference between them

Koza Design

Bambu files do not works in all the slicers and it's configured with my settings while the generic works on all the ones I testes like Prusa slicer, cura, simplify 3d.

James Ross

Gotcha. I always forget there is other printers out there that uses 3mf files.

James Ross

Is there a way to have a smooth version of the grinch? As I do like the texture of him, just wondering if there a smooth version of him solid

Koza Design

You want the small version without the knitted texture ?

James Ross

Yes. My youngest one loves the solid one, just asked if there was one without the knitted textures

Koza Design

I'll se if I can make an adjustment. Need to check if I can recover the original surface before I add the texture

James Ross

If not no biggie. All your work is awesome and I enjoy it all

Denise Eastman

Is there a link to purchase the lights?

Mike Sprague

how many walls/infill are most using on the Bauble version? the first few I printed (at the same time) the heads snapped off at the neck - it happens right at the steeper overhang spot.

Koza Design

I printed mines with two walls and 10% infill. They looks strong enough. I used Polymaker PLA, Sovol and Bambu PLA for the tests. If those settings are not strong as you need maybe you can try add another wall and increase to 15% infill

Mike Sprague

I have 3 walls and 10% Gryroid - but when I went to pop them off the buildplate, the neck just snapped...

Mike Sprague

looking at the slice, there's a spot just after the neck where it expands pretty quickly - that's where it happened

Tammy

Dollar Tree Tea Lights 3 for a 1.25

Mike Wakelin

is the bigger grinch with heart suppose to be textured? i was hoping for the textured versions but mine seems smooth

Koza Design

The texture is a feature on the slicer named fuzzy skin. If you use Bambu studio the 3mf file is already configured with it. On other slicer you have to apply it as a modifier using the generic 3mf file.

Wendi Will

Do they need supports?

Koza Design

No, I made the design to be printed without supports. For the full settings I posted a picture on the carrousel

Wendi Will

Thank you for the quick response.

Deez Trading

So how do you insert the led light candle?

Koza Design

It has a space on the bottom for the led candlelight.

Koza Design

One of the pictures on the carrousel has the specifications of the ones I used

Rafael Acevedo

Which file is the one with the large hollow bear with fuzzy skin? I can only find the one with smooth skin.

Koza Design

The 3mf-bambu has applied the fuzzy skin and the 3mf-generic doesn't

Rafael Acevedo

When I open the 3mf bambu it is smooth - not fuzzy. I'll go in to the options and turn it on. Thanks!

Koza Design

For fuzzy skin only in some parts of the model go to the objects tab, then choose the part you want to apply it, then go to Others tab and turn on fuzzy skin , contour

Justin Rogers

Do you have somewhere other people will post their prints like a discord/facebook page? I've printed quite a few models of yours and share them with people I know but figured the creator would enjoy seeing them printed too :D

Rachel Barnett

where do we find the little one with fuzzy skin? I think i downloaded and checked them all, but maybe i'm missing one.. :)

Koza Design

The little one is the same file just scaled. Its Not fuzzy skin on it, it's a knitted texture I already applied on the 3d model

Rachel Barnett

Oh gotcha.. I thought the first image showed a non-knitted grinch :) thanks for the quick rely :) We have handed out many of the grinches. My kiddos love handing out your designs for christmas. This year, they spent their "Christmas angel" money on filament and hand out your bears and grinches to strangers. They have handed out about 250 so far! more to come. everyone loves them! you do an amazing job..

Koza Design

That's amazing!, did your kids have any idea for a new design? If so, I will try to make something inspired in their idea.

Rachel Barnett

My middle kiddo suggested a cute big eye Christmas puppy coming out of a stocking.. We love the color changes, but would love it if some designs could have less needed. Lol. Thinkwe use half the filament for purges.. but multi-color is so much better, so we do it anyway. I will certainly see if they can come up with some more. For us, the easier/faster the print the better as we can hand out more "smiles" that way. 😀 think your grinch has been the top winner! We stopped printing the scarf red though due to the amount of color changes.. would even be great to have the scarf removed ;) just thinking faster, but still a bit of beautiful color!

Rachel Barnett

my halloween lover recommends jack skellington santa.. lol

Jacquelyn Taylor

you just look for fuzzy fur on slicer i know cura has it but not sure about other slicers

Koza Design

Cura, prusa and Bambu studio has fuzzy skin modifier

Clinton Dobbs

Anyone else having a problem on the back portion? Using Bambu Studio and a small part of the red scarf is coming through the body
