Gorr the God Butcher Reference Sheet (Patreon)

Hello everybody, been a while. For a bit I have been stuck doing a lot of irl work for the past couple of weeks and getting used to the change in schedule. Because of that I haven't been able to make much new art :(

Fortunately though I have been able to make these 3 drawings of Gorr the God Butcher. The colors for each are based on the Marvel Rivals game, the more purple colors are more like the comics where Gorr's symbiote is drawn without much color, and the red colors are based on Knull since the symbiote bonded to Gorr is the All-Black, a symbiote sword that was the 1st symbiote ever made by Knull.

As a way to keep stuff on Patreon for a bit longer whenever I make a height/ref sheet like this I won't post it publicly until I post an actual drawing of the character. So I will probably be making more ref sheets here and there and I actually plan to save up some drawings for the future. Will hopefully make another post soon on another character sheet before the month ends! Also hope that you all enjoy the lore section underneath.

Gorr was born 3 thousand years ago on a planet with no name with a deformed left leg. Him and his species had little food to help them survive on the desolate planet. He was taught by his mother and father to trust the gods, but on the day they were attack and killed his prayers were left unanswered. Decades later his distain for the gods would grow but in that distain he would marry Arra and they would have many daughters. But time after time each would die from the harsh environment of the planet. It was only a matter of time until his pregnant wife Arra would tragically die in an unforeseen earthquake. Afterwards more and more of his children would die till he was left with his only son Agar who died in his arms from starvation.

Stricken with grief and broken, Gorr became nihilistic and openly expressed his belief that the gods weren't even real, which resulted in his exile by his own people. While wandering the desert wishing to die, Gorr witnessed two gods fighting to the death, a dark god called Knull and a god empowered by the Enigma Force. He was shocked that the gods were real, but his shock quickly turned to anger the moment the golden god asked for help. Gorr's anger became more erratic and the sword that the now dead Knull wielded slowly inched to Gorr. The sword bonded to Gorr and only one thing echoed inside of him... ALL GODS MUST DIE.

For thousands of years Gorr now bonded to the All-Black symbiote traveled the cosmos exacting his revenge on any and all gods that crossed his path due to them never listening to his prayers and allowing his wife and children to die. The symbiote kept him alive, no matter what injury he sustained, the sword kept him alive to continue his crusade and kill many gods of fear, war, chaos, genocide, revenge, plagues, earthquakes, blood, wrath, jealousy, death, degradation, and a few gods of poetry and flowers.

It wouldn't be until the 9th century when Gorr first encountered Thor, the first god to ever escape him.
