A Date with Death 2: REMNANTS Beta 1.4 (Patreon)

SOLARIS TIER: Welcome to the A Date with Death 2: REMNANTS beta!

This beta includes the entire common route of the game (days 1-7) plus the first day (day 8) of both Atlas and 5012's routes!

PLEASE START A NEW SAVE. IF YOU LOAD OLD SAVES YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS. Once you press start, you will be able to jump to day 4 (after the demo), day 6 (after the last beta), and eventually to either Atlas or 5012's routes.

Before you begin, please remember that everything in this beta is confidential. This includes screenshots, recordings, livestreams, story content, plot information, CGs, dialogue and any other unreleased material.

By participating in this beta, you agree not to share any part of the game outside of the beta community. Even content that may seem minor or harmless can spoil the experience for other players and impact the development process.

If you would like to discuss the beta, please do so only within the designated beta channel in our Discord, which you can get access to by connecting your Discord and Patreon accounts (if you get stuck, we have a guide pinned in our general chat).

Any leaks, redistribution of the game files, sharing of assets, or public posting of unreleased content may result in immediate removal from the beta and our community.

Please use this spreadsheet to report any bugs, crashes, errors, or spelling/grammar mistakes you encounter during your playthrough. This beta is intended to help us identify technical issues and polish the game before release only.

Please include screenshots/error logs and your Patreon username (or email) where possible when reporting problems if your issue is complex. If it's a spelling mistake, giving context around the line is fine by itself!

Build 1.4 Change Notes

This build includes the entire common route of the game plus day 1 of both Atlas and 5012's routes.

There are currently some placeholders and incomplete features. These will be fixed in future beta builds and the full release.

Changelist:

Days 6 and 7 are now available.

Atlas day 1 and 5012 day 1 are now available.

New backgrounds added.

New side character expressions added for Riven, Elyon, Cu and Felly, with more on the way for other characters.

New characters added.

New CGs added.

New music added.

Fixed a huge amount of bugs and crashes.

Added new sprite outfits for existing characters.

Added new mini CGs all throughout the game.

Replaced many old placeholders.

Added a selection of new Kickstarter complaints. Please keep in mind this is strictly a technical test - these have not been edited yet at all, and are completely subject to change (i.e no need to report spelling mistakes in them)!

Many changes to the 2D side scrolling sections and how walking is programmed. Please keep an eye out for any issues with this on your end!

Added a few extra side character interactions to day 4 and 5 walking sections.

Known issues/WIP things:

Ellias chibi sprite still a placeholder.

Placeholder on one background in 5012's route.

2 mini CGs to be added to 5012 day 1.

Hiding the BG on some screens will show the call BGs behind them.

More character customization to be added.

Most days are still missing side characters in the walking sections. More will be in the next update!

How do I play?

For the first time, we are running our early access beta builds through Steam! That means you must have Steam to play through the new beta. If you don't have it, it's free to install!

Step 1:

Download the A Date with Death 2: REMNANTS demo on Steam. If you already have it installed, you're good to go!

Step 2:

Right click it in your library and select "Properties", then "Game Versions & Betas".

Step 3:

In the "Private Versions" section, input the following code: KSPatreonJuneJuly

Step 4:

Select the new beta version, and you're good to go! It will automatically download. If you ever want to switch back to the public demo, simply click "Default Public Version"!

This means that any bug fixes or updates will automatically download without you having to constantly redownload the entire game.

If you have any graphical/lag related issues in the walking sections, please do not report it until you have gone to the settings and changed the renderer. Quit the game after each change and then fast forward back to the walking sections from the start of the game. Do this for both options, as 99% of the time any issue can be solved by changing the renderer.
