This ancient Yuan-Ti temple sits  nestled into the mountainside, high above the forest canopy. Making no  real effort to hide, it practically glistens in the sunshine as the  nearby waterfalls weave rainbows across the structures. Statues line the  ascent, dedicated to various powerful Yuan-Ti of legend. High above and  across the river is a fortified position leading into the temple, where  guards are on lookout at all times of day. Near the top of the stairs  is a large platform with a deep pit where the Yuan-Ti will throw in foes  they've bested but haven't yet killed. It leads deep down to a small  lake which feeds into more of the temple below.

Upon  entering the temple, it's clear that it's more of a ruin than a temple.  Winding passageways feed throughout, with some of them fully flooded  from decades of damage and decay. Traps are scattered throughout for the  Yuan-Ti to lead their prey into, as well as chambers to torture and  torment their captives. A hidden door in the central chamber leads to a  winding wooden ramp that feeds into the rest of the temple below. Deeper  in, a secret entrance leads down a hallway to a room pulsing with  magical energy on either side. An exit leading to cave passageway sits  just beyond.

Opening up to a large  cave system, rushing water can be heard as a river cuts through and  splits into three. Light gently filters through small holes in the cave  ceiling, almost constantly filling the cave with a dim light. A small  campsite flush with supplies is set up for Yuan-Ti Purebloods who tend  to large flightless birds, catch fish, and otherwise assist the acolytes  in non-temple related tasks. Just past this cave and over the bridges  is the temple. Within is a massive chamber that rises high above into a  vaulted ceiling. On either side of the marble pathway leading forward is  three or four inches of blood pooled out across the entire floor.

Torches  flicker and cast dancing shadows throughout the room, only interrupted  by the faint red glow coming from the statues lining either side of the  chamber. At the end of the temple is an altar and a large sacrificial  pool where acolytes ultimately perform their sacrifices. On the opposite  end  of the temple are sleeping quarters, a spawning chamber, and a  hidden study.

Can the adventurers rid the locals of the Yuan-Ti menace, or will they too be fed to the ancient snake God?
