This was such a joyful surprise of a movie! We are thrown right into Superman's world without any dillydallying. There was a hopeful and comedic tone to this film that balanced out the action well. It definitely felt like a James Gunn movie. This was exactly the kind of movie I needed today!

I hope you enjoy! ❤️

If you're interested and decide to move forward with the DCU after all the MCU stuff you've been watching, you can catch up pretty easily if you want. There's The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker S1, Creature Commandos, and Peacemaker S2 all made by James Gunn. In 2026, for the DCU, we're getting a Lanterns HBO show, a Supergirl movie and a Clayface (Batman villain) horror movie.

Haley Mastronardi

I'm glad you enjoyed this movie. I would totally be down for you to check out the old Superman films with Christopher Reeve. For a lot of people, he is their Superman and is the definitive version. I can definitely see why; he was just amazing. For me personally, this movie and David Corenswet's performance is what got me invested in DC content, so I think that he is my Superman and I can't wait to see more of his portrayal in the future. To answer your question, David's Superman is more comic accurate than Henry's; his was SO different, a lot darker. If you want to continue with the new DCU, I would 100% be down for that too. The only thing from the previous universe (DCEU) that you would need to watch is The Suicide Squad (2021). Then Peacemaker season 1, Creature Commandos, and Peacemaker season 2 (definitely not as much content as the MCU lol). Next year, we get a Supergirl movie so we will see more of his cousin as well as a Lanterns show and a Clayface movie. So far, everything in the DCU has been done by James Gunn (including a Superman sequel that's coming out in less than 2 years) but those next 3 projects aren't. Hopefully this is something you can consider. Also fun fact, the reporter on the TV that was talking about the Justice Gang was Christopher Reeve's son, Will Reeve, who I believe is a journalist in real life, so that was just a really cool way to honour his dad.

Can’t wait for The Supergirl movie, and how fun and refreshing as a lifelong comic nerd to see someone not know that he has a cousin and enjoy that surprise. Supergirl is technically older than Superman. She was roughly 14 when Krypton was destroyed and they sent her just like Clark to find a safe haven but she got stuck in “the phantom zone” for many years. So while Clark grew up on earth she didn’t age until much later than him.

I might go long here but idc...This Superman is so perfect that I genuinely hope James Gunn and Matt Reeves who runs The Batman world are playing us, and they actually surprise us with Robert Pattinson being the DCU Batman instead of being in his own world. Pattinson and David Corenswet together is too perfect and would break box office records. Include Aaron Pierre as John Stewart Green Lantern, Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl, maybe Edi Gathegi's Mr. Terrific, whoever they cast as Wonder Woman, and more for The Justice League. Matt Reeves can finish his vision with The Batman - Part II (hopefully a young Dick Grayson who becomes Robin is introduced) and Part III and we can still get more Batman like BATB after. Reeves is already producing in the DCU like the Batman villain R-rated horror Clayface film next year. He and Gunn are working on an animated Dynamic Duo story about two Robins Dick Grayson and Jason Todd too, a standalone story I think. Another Batman would just get outshined by the prestigious nature of Rob's. Jax you also have to watch The Penguin too. Lauren LeFranc wrote a great show and HBO/WB gave her a deal to create more shows for Reeves and outside of Batman. Colin Farrell and then Cristin Milioti as Sofia are amazing, swept the awards. I need more HBO TV spinoffs from that Batman universe too. Part II is making over a billion, winning awards, maybe even a best picture...just let Reeves run the Gotham side of the DCU he already has his hand in everything Batman, even an animated show Caped Crusader on Amazon. He already had a deal with WB/DC and big role there, Rob too. We will see what happens but I am just glad DC is back on top. I love DC and Marvel but DC always been better to me and they are starting to prove it again after. The Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow releases on July 9, 2027 and The Batman - Part II on October 1, 2027. Both potential billion dollar plus films with The Batman sequel easily making over $1B for sure. Upcoming next year in the DCU is HBO's Lanterns TV show, a Supergirl film, and Clayface...Random but I need to see a new Harley Quinn with Barry Keoghan's Joker so Harley has a better story and Reeves can show that broken relationship and how Harley deals with it. Gunn will give Margot a new role in the DCU if she wants since he is close with her bc they worked together on The Suicide Squad in the DCEU, this Harley in the new DCU needs no Suicide Squad ties. He did the same with Jason Momoa who was Aquaman in the DCEU now Lobo in the DCU who in in the Supergirl film. The Suicide Squad has some DCU connections but only some of the story, same with Peacemaker S1. Creature Commandos and Peacemaker S2 in the DCU clear that up.

You have to watch Christopher Reeve's Superman 1978 and Superman II from Richard Donner and Richard Lester for II but there is a Donner cut for II, as well as Michael Keaton's Batman 1989 and Batman Returns from Tim Burton.

LeSteeler

Batman Begins is the best origin film but Iron Man is close, and Superman 2025 did not need an origin because most of the audience seen the origin and it gets explained in the film.

Mike Smith

Great reaction! I thought they nailed the casting in this movie. Rachel Brosnahan was a great Lois Lane. Have you seen her show Marvelous Mrs. Maisel? That would be a fun series to react to. If you ever decide to react to the Christopher Reeve Superman movies, when you get to the second one, I highly recommend you react to the director's cut, The Richard Donner Cut (director of the The Goonies). And you can skip Superman 3 and 4 and go right to Superman Returns. 3&4 are pretty much universally regarded as terrible movies and Returns pretends they don't exist. There have been several Superman TV adaptations. The most notable ones are Lois & Clark from the 90's, Smallville from the 00s and Superman & Lois most recently. They're all solid shows but would probably be too big of a project for reaction content. Maybe you could react to the pilots and select episodes.

Armando Castillo

David Corenswet is the more comic accurate. Man of steel with henry i enjoyed but its a bit too gloomy and superman is definitely not that hes bright and full of hope. James Gunn taking over dc is the best decision WB has every done. DC universe films weren't so hot and they dipped but after Gunn made the last guardians movies and the suicide squad 2021 for dc. wb saw he was really good at world building and more importantly character building. So his suicide squad movie is sort of cannon to this new universe he created so I'd love a reaction to that! Not to be mistaken with the first suicide squad film by a different director which wasn't very good in my opinion but james knocked it out of the park with his version. And after that peacemaker which is someone you seen here make a cameo played by John Cena his show is great season 1 created by Gunn and then an animated show creature commandos which is technically the first dc studios thing created by James Gunn also then superman 2025 and then after that peacemaker season 2. Favorite superman films is between this and the first christopher reeve film they're great and tv show superman and lois is fantastic series the actor Tyler hochlin captured the spirit of superman perfectly too. It recently ended with four seasons. So the new dc universe that Gunn made in order 1. The suicide squad 2021 used to be in the old universe 2. Peacemaker season 1 used to be in the old universe 3. Creature commandos first official dc studios project 4. Superman 2025 5. Peacemaker season 2

This was such a great movie!! Loved this cast so much!!! For me, it's hard to not pick Christopher Reeve as the best Superman still, but he's the one I grew up watching so it's hard to pick someone else. But I think all the actors that have played that role have done a great job. You totally have to watch Resident Alien!! It is so great and Alan Tudyk is so great in it! I think Tobey McGuire's Spider-Man is still my favorite superhero origin movie. It set the standard in a lot of ways and I think it still holds up!

Danny Roberts

Resident Alien is so underrated, I wish people would react to it, it's fantastic!

LeSteeler

Batman Begins is the best origin with Christian Bale's Batman, Robert Pattinson is the best Batman to me with the best film The Batman that is right there with The Dark Knight.

LeSteeler

David Corenswet is my favorite Superman/Clark Kent and the best, with Christopher Reeve close. Superman in this does not kill, and at the end all they know is that Superman is dating Lois not Clark even though he but they still don't know. James Gunn also said at DC he would do post credit scenes that push the story forward only if they have that plan really set because when he was at Marvel they teased a lot in post credits scenes that went nowhere. He obviously has a plan but nothing to force in a post credit scene because at that time he was still writing the sequel and they haven't even cast the villain character they would tease for the sequel that we know now is coming (don't want to spoil if you don't know or want to see it blind until the trailer or film). I will say most of the cast including Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor will be back for it. So sometimes we could just get fun add on post credit scenes like these. Also, in the older Christopher Reeve Superman films from Richard Donner in the late 70's and early 80's Gene Hackman plays Lex Luthor.

Chester Beals

Green Lantern is fun and an interesting look into the mythology of the Green Lantern Corps, so don't let all those grouchy hipsters dissuade you from seeing it. PLUS you'll get some insight into those Deadpool jokes. :)

Ren Maddox

Other than The Eternals, it seems like most of the MCU post credit scenes have actually paid off. Sure, one took 18 years and felt almost like someone was explicitly trying to tie up lose ends, but still....

"Comic accurate" is a loaded term. There are almost 100 years of Superman comics. James Gunn's Superman film draws inspiration from a variety of comic sources, but the primary influences are All-Star Superman, Superman for All Seasons, and the Silver Age comics of the 1960s and 1970s.

Warren Robinson

This film wasn't perfect, but I walked out of the theater with a smile on my face which is the most important thing.

Warren Robinson

Mr. Terrific is consistently ranked among the smartest DC characters along with Lex and Batman. He doesn't have any powers. He uses tech. He is a former Olympic athlete though. There are several Green Lanterns, including Hal Jordan who was played by Ryan Reynolds. Guy is notoriously a douche in the comics. There are two versions of Hawkgirl. One is an alien. The other is a reincarnated Egyptian princess. Metamorpho works with Batman at times in the comics.

Warren Robinson

Maxwell Lord, who funds the Justice Gang and was played by Sean Gunn, was played by Pedro Pascal in Wonder Woman: 1984.

JeyMiah

I hope you really go on a DC journey and explore the universe as a whole like you’ve done with the MCU. There’s so many amazing and iconic characters with great and unique stories.

Warren Robinson

For more Superman content, I would recommend Superman 1977, Superman II, Superman Returns, and BvS. I would also recommend Lois and Clark, Smallville, and Superman and Lois on the TV side. For animation, the 90s Superman, Justice League, Justice League: Unlimited, and Young Justice.

Bryce Bassitt

If you decide to watch more Superman stuff, please don't skip Superman III. People love to bash on it but it's an important part of many people's childhoods and it's a lot of fun and has one of the best scenes in the entire trilogy!

Spidey Productions

definitely check out more Superman content on HBO Max!!
