To answer your question at the end, Simon found marceline all alone in the fall out of the war and comforted her with the plushy that marceline now cherishes. Simplest way I can answer without spoiling later episodes 👍

praise the lore :) also in the ep before this marceline was showing ice king a newspaper clipping of him 'before the war' and in the song they sung together it mentions that the crown is making him crazy and seems to be the source of his madness. we also saw that little scene of child marceline meeting simon (ice king) in a post apocalyptic Ooo and thats all that was really said/ shown at this point i believe but as always there will be more to come and i cant wait to see your reactions :) not sure if this helps but i'll post it anyway

Malachi

The flashback with Marceline and Simon was him finding her in the ruins of the destruction when she was a little girl, and taking care of her. But that's about it

Later on in the season, it will further elaborate Marceline and Ice King/Simon. As for your theory, you're very spot on how Ooo came to be as a result of the bomb, but they'll be more lore in store as the series progresses.

the amount of times christene has said the lich's name wrong is insane lolll

Rebecca Sugar wrote the song "Remember You". That's why it's sad 😔 lol. She helped out with Marceline's story. You can tell once you see it.
