I feel that the non elimination rounds should have a reward at the end or a useful boost for the next round otherwise it always feels kinda useless for them to be in a rush to be first other than getting a head start

Amazing Race experimented with different penalties for teams saved by non elims, the longest running one was making them complete an extra challenge (speed bump) in the next leg. They tried other things like taking all their money, making them start the next leg really late, or giving them a time penalty if they didn't come in first the next leg. The speed bump would've probably worked best for Ridonculous Race to imitate.
