Okay, so, I'll be honest; I think a lot of this won't make sense without knowing the end of Adventure Time and I think a bit of Distant Lands(the 1.5 sequel of adventure time that you talked about). I can explain it to you if you want, but I just want to warn you that it does involve a lot of spoilers for the ending of adventure time and for an episode of Distant Lands. Let me know if you want that (Note: I won't be spoiling Fionna and Cake during this explanation)!

Each episode is about 45-50 minutes on that one, but there's only about 4 episodes. It doesn't provide as much context as the final season of adventure time does, though. Distant Lands just explains things like the weird evil goose in the cage, Jake's death, and some princess bubblegum/ Marceline lore

Simone was Ice King, Simone is the original ice king was just a byproduct from the crown. Also Marshall Lee is Marceline as a male. I don't want to spoil too much in case you go back but Jake has kids and has a grandchild too. And Princess Bubblegum and Marcy are girlfriends yes Bubbline forever!
