As I understood this show at the time of first watching this episode: The big difference between Cid and Ainz is that Cid thinks that all these girls are just humoring him with the whole Cult of Diablos thing because he saved them from mutation. He thinks they want to help him fulfill his chuuni dream (although he realises that the power he has taught them is real). He plays along because he doesn't want to let down all their effort. See this episode, he refers to the throne room atop the department store as a "set", not as his actual throne room on top of his actual department store that is full of stuff that is all his. He sees all the characters around him solely for the anime archetypes they represent, and he *always* gets it wrong. This show just leans into anime tropes real hard and I love it.
