Kuu lives at Old Home, so by the rules stated in the show she must be a girl. I think the old guy called her a boy because she's tomboyish? I haven't paid attention to which first person singular pronouns everyone uses in the Japanese dialogue, I'm afraid. That scene where Nemu shows Rakka her book is such a mood. Letting others read your writing is always nerve wracking.
