It was Quill's fault Thaos won. However why didn't they just open a portal and then close it over Thanos' hand? Could have just teleported arm right off.

1:12:10 I love that Thor took Groot as an elective language on Asgard. It seems to learn the Groot language you just need to hang around a Groot long enough making it the laziest class you could take. Perfectly in line with Thor's character at the time. Great rewatch Biss, thanx.

Depends on Dr. Strange's definition of winning. By letting Thanos win, but in the maner that insures victory later, the universe gets to learn Thanos' lesson while also getting the later result of Endgame. It's a win win .

I can't help but see Matt Damon when I look at the face of Thanos. I cannot unsee it.

I know this is late, but I don't think Thanos teaches a lesson. He has what he thinks is a solution to overpopulation. He's cold and calculating, and he thinks his solution is extremely logical, but his logic is missing the part where all planets will be in the same position years later when their population eventually grows again. Given that he had all of the stones, he could have just imparted the knowledge and reason of the demise of his home planet to every sapient being in the universe to help them prevent it happening to them, but that wouldn't make him a villain. And it's clear he actually enjoys killing. As for cutting his arm off with a portal - Dr. Strange viewed over 14 million different futures from that moment and I guess that wouldn't have led to a very satisfying future.
