It bothers me that somewhere along the line DC decided that Martian Manhunter should be as strong as Superman. It speaks to a fundamental insecurity about the sufficiency of his already-established (and IMO cool-as-fuck) powers such as telepathy and shapechanging. He didn't need super-strength, and also him having super-strength doesn't make a ton of sense given his other powers. Plus it also speaks to a larger issue within DC where Superman is canonically the strongest of (what in an almost assuredly futile attempt at saving time and avoiding nerdy arguments I'm going to describe as) the "standard" characters in that universe, but also (and just as canonically) there are like a dozen other standard characters who are all described as being just as strong as Superman. Get your shit together, DC! This has been my Ted (Kord) Talk.
