After their first rendezvous, they quickly found themselves on a thrilling spiral of desire. The initial barrier had been broken, making it easier to approach each other with confidence. They became addicted to one another, their connection growing deeper with each encounter. Harry, finally letting his guard down after their time on the beach, allowed Y/N to truly get to know him.

Y/N finally understood what it meant to be desired and wanted with such overwhelming intensity. Every glance, touch, and whisper from Harry ignited a fire within her that she had never experienced before. Their connection was electric, and each moment together only deepened their bond.

As the days passed, they found themselves stealing moments whenever they could. Whether it was a shared laugh over breakfast, a secretive touch under the table, or a lingering gaze across the room, their chemistry was undeniable. Harry opened up to her in ways he hadn't with anyone else, sharing his dreams, fears, and the stories that shaped him.

Y/N reciprocated, revealing parts of herself she had kept hidden. She felt safe with Harry, cherished and understood in a way that made her heart soar. Their days were filled with laughter and passion, their nights with whispered confessions and tender embraces.

Despite the initial hesitation and the unspoken rules they were breaking, neither could resist the pull they felt toward each other. They were no longer just acquaintances; they were something more, something profound. Their relationship flourished in the warm, sunlit days and the quiet, star-filled nights of the Bahamas.

Y/N's admiration for Harry grew as she saw him not only as Scarlett's father but as a man with depth, kindness, and an incredible passion for life. And Harry, in turn, found himself captivated by Y/N's spirit, her intelligence, and the way she brought light into his world.

However, their blissful escape was abruptly brought to reality in the final week of their vacation when Scarlett arrived one late afternoon. The tranquil rhythm of their days and the passionate nights were suddenly disrupted by her presence.

Scarlett’s arrival was marked by the sound of a car pulling up and the excited chatter as she entered the villa. Y/N and Harry, who had been lounging by the pool, exchanged a quick, knowing glance. Their secret world was about to be shattered, and they both felt a mix of anticipation and dread.

Scarlett burst into the villa, her laughter filling the air as she called out for her father. Harry stood up, his expression a blend of joy and apprehension, as he went to greet her. Y/N followed, her heart pounding in her chest.

"Dad! Y/N!" Scarlett exclaimed, pulling them both into a warm hug. "I missed you guys!”

Harry smiled, hugging her tightly. “We missed you too darlin’. How was your trip?”

As Scarlett recounted her adventures, Y/N felt a pang of guilt and fear. She knew their time was running out, and the return to reality was imminent. The easy, carefree days they had shared were now shadowed by the presence of Scarlett, and the complications she unknowingly brought with her.

Y/N felt a wave of guilt wash over her as she listened to her friend. She couldn't shake the feeling of being unclean and deceitful. Every word Scarlett spoke about her excitement and the adventures she had missed only served to deepen Y/N's sense of shame.

As Scarlett animatedly described her trip, Y/N’s mind raced back to the secret moments she had shared with Harry. The warmth of his touch, the intensity of their connection—it all felt tainted now. She forced herself to smile and nod, but her heart was heavy with the weight of her betrayal.

“Are you okay? You’ve been unusually quiet,” Scarlett said to Y/N as they settled down with drinks and snacks before dinner. She could sense that something was troubling her friend.

Y/N managed a strained smile, attempting to conceal her inner conflict. “It’s nothing, really. I might have just gotten a bit too much sun.”

Scarlett’s concern deepened as she tilted her head. “Are you feeling okay? Maybe it’s a headache? I’ve got some medicine in my bag and a cold bath might help.”

Y/N nodded, grateful for the suggestion. “That actually sounds great. I think I’ll head up to my room to freshen up before dinner. Excuse me for a moment.”

As she made her way toward the stairs, she glanced back at Scarlett, who gave her a reassuring nod. The concern in her friend’s eyes only deepened Y/N's sense of guilt. She knew she was hiding something, but she wasn’t ready to face it yet.

Once she was alone in her room, Y/N let out a long sigh. The cool, private space offered a brief respite from the emotional turmoil she was experiencing. She took a quick shower, letting the warm water ease her tense muscles and wash away the remnants of the day’s activities. The soothing sound of the water provided a momentary distraction, but her mind was still clouded with uncertainty.

After her shower, Y/N wrapped herself in a robe and sat on the edge of her bed, trying to gather her thoughts. She stared at the mirror, seeing the reflection of her conflicted emotions. The guilt of deceiving Scarlett and the intensity of her feelings for Harry were taking a toll on her.

Eventually, she gathered herself and dressed in a casual yet elegant outfit suitable for dinner. The thought of facing Scarlett and Harry at the dining table, knowing she was keeping secrets, made her anxious. But she knew she had to push through, if only to maintain some semblance of normalcy.

As she made her way downstairs, the aroma of dinner wafted through the air, mingling with the sounds of cheerful conversation. Scarlett was chatting animatedly with Harry, and their laughter was a bittersweet reminder of how much Y/N wished things could be simpler.

When she reached the dining area, Scarlett greeted her with a warm smile. “Feeling better?”

Y/N nodded, forcing a more genuine smile. “Much better, thanks to you.”

As they sat down to enjoy the meal, Y/N did her best to focus on the pleasant conversation and the delicious food. The evening unfolded with a semblance of normalcy, but beneath the surface, Y/N's mind was still wrestling with the complexities of her situation.

The next few days passed in a blur of sun, sand, and attempted normalcy. Y/N and Scarlett spent their time by the pool and on the beach, trying to savor every moment of their vacation. Y/N did her best to maintain a facade of ease, laughing and chatting with Scarlett as if everything was perfectly fine. However, the underlying tension was palpable, even if unspoken.

Harry and Y/N kept their distance during the day, each trying to focus on their separate activities. Harry immersed himself in his work, often disappearing into his studio to work on his architectural designs, while Y/N made a concerted effort to engage in the usual vacation activities. They avoided eye contact and kept their interactions brief, though their lingering glances and fleeting touches spoke volumes.

Yet, as the nights grew quiet and the villa settled into a serene darkness, old habits resurfaced. Y/N found herself unable to resist the magnetic pull between them. On more than one occasion, she would quietly slip out of her room under the cover of night and make her way to Harry’s bedroom. Their stolen moments together were filled with a mixture of passion and secrecy, the thrill of their hidden encounters adding an extra layer of intensity to their connection.

In the dim light of Harry’s room, they would reunite, their touch and whispered words a stark contrast to the careful distance they maintained during the day. The nights were their sanctuary, a space where they could momentarily escape the guilt.

“I just feel so guilty,” Y/N said to Harry as they stood together on the balcony of his studio, overlooking the ocean. Scarlett had gone out to pick up groceries and some specific cravings she had been having.

Harry looked at Y/N, the soft ocean breeze rustling their hair as he tried to read the depth of her emotions. “I know. So do I” he said gently. “But we’ve been making the most of the time we have. It doesn’t have to be this way forever.”

Y/N turned to face him, her eyes filled with a mix of frustration and sadness. “It’s not just about us. It’s about Scarlett. I feel like I’m betraying her every time we’re together, even though she has no idea.”

Harry grabbed her hand trying to reassure her. “I don’t want you to feel this way”

Y//N sighed, her gaze drifting back to the horizon where the sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over the water. “I don’t know. It’s like I’m caught between wanting to be with you and not wanting to lose my friendship with Scar”.

Harry’s expression softened as he took a step closer. “The last thing I want is fo’ you to be torn apart. Maybe we should consider talking to Scarlett”.

Y/N instantly shook her head. “She would never accept it. I don’t want to lose either of you”

Harry nodded in understanding, his fingers gently caressing her hand. “You won’t. We’ll figure it out. One day at the time. For now, let’s focus on enjoying the time we have left here”.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the ocean, Harry and Y/N remained on the balcony, grappling with their conflicting emotions. Harry noticed the strain in Y/N’s eyes and, wanting to offer some comfort, he gently pulled her into a hug. The embrace was tender, his warmth providing a brief respite from the turmoil she felt inside.

Y/N rested her head against his chest, feeling a mixture of relief and guilt. Harry’s arms encircled her, his touch both reassuring and intimate. He tilted her chin up, his gaze meeting hers with a softness that spoke of his deep affection. With a mix of hesitation and determination, he leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to her lips.

The kiss was brief but filled with unspoken promises and the weight of their feelings. Just as they were lost in the moment, the sound of the front door opening and closing broke the spell. Y/N and Harry turned to see Scarlett standing at the entrance to the studio, her arms laden with grocery bags. Her eyes widened in shock as she took in the sight before her.

The room fell into an awkward silence. Scarlett’s expression shifted from surprise to confusion, and a pang of betrayal flashed across her face. The air was thick with tension as she processed what she had just walked in on.

Y/N pulled away from Harry, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment and guilt. “Scarlett, I—”

“No!” Scarlett’s voice cracked with anger and hurt. “Are you seriously fuckin my dad?!” Her face was a mix of disbelief and furry, her eyes blazing with both disappointment and betrayal.

Harry and Y/N exchanged a look of desperation, both trying to find the right words to explain their actions, but Scarlett’s anger was a fierce barrier.

“Scarlett, please, let us explain—” Harry began, stepping forward with a pained expression.

“No! Don’t you dare try to justify this!” Scarlett snapped, her voice rising. “I can’t believe this. I trusted you, Y/N. I thought you were my friend. And my dad—my own father! How could you?”

Y/N took a step towards her, her voice trembling. “Scarlett, I never meant to hurt you. Things just... happened, and I’m so sorry. I know it doesn’t excuse anything, but please understand—”

“No!” Scarlett cut her off sharply. “Understanding doesn’t fix this. You’ve crossed a line I didn’t think anyone could. You’ve not only betrayed my trust but also made me question everything I believed about our friendship. How could you be so selfish?”

Harry tried to intervene, his voice filled with regret. “Scarlett, I never wanted to hurt you. It was never supposed to be like this. We—”

Scarlett’s anger flared as she interrupted him. “Save it. I don’t want to hear excuses.”

“You know what?” Scarlett’s voice was sharp, laced with venom. “I’ve always had your back, Y/N. I’ve supported you through everything. I defended you when others doubted you, and this is how you repay me?”

Y/N’s face fell, her guilt deepening. “Scarlett, I know I’ve messed up, but please—”

Scarlett cut her off with a scathing look. “Please? Do you even hear yourself? You’ve been like a sister to me. I’ve shared my life with you, my family, and this is how you repay my trust? By fucking my dad? Are you this desperate for attention and to be part of this family? I know you have a shitty family and they don’t love you, but that doesn’t mean you can come and shit on this one”

Harry stepped forward, his frustration bubbling over. “Scarlett, that’s enough. Y/N’s made mistakes, but tearing her apart won’t solve anything. We’re all hurting here.”

Scarlett’s eyes flashed with fury as she turned to Harry. “Oh, and you think you have any right to lecture me? You’re the one who crossed the line, too. You were supposed to be someone I could look up to. Instead, you’ve become part of the mess.”

Harry’s anger flared, his voice growing more intense. “I never meant for any of this to happen. This situation is messed up, and I’m sorry for that. But blaming Y/N and throwing everything you’ve ever done for her back in her face and speaking about her family in that matter is just cruel”.

Scarlett’s face twisted with a mix of hurt and indignation. “Cruel? You think that’s what this is? You don’t get to tell me how to feel about my best friend betraying me. She’s taken advantage of my kindness, and you’ve disrespected my family. I’m beyond angry, and I want you gone. I don’t ever want to see you ever again”.

Harry’s expression hardened as he struggled to maintain his composure. “I understand that you’re hurt. We all are. But if you want to talk, we need to do it calmly, not with insults and anger. We owe it to ourselves to find a way to handle this with some respect.”

“I want you to leave! GET OUT—NOW!” Scarlett shouted, her voice trembling with a mix of fury and heartbreak.

Harry’s face darkened as he stepped forward, his voice firm and protective. “Scarlett, that’s enough. Y/N is not leaving. You need to calm down and talk this out like adults.”

Scarlett’s eyes widened in shock and disbelief, her mouth opening in a mix of surprise and hurt. “Dad, are you seriously taking her side in this? How can you raise your voice at me, as if I’m the one in the wrong here?”

Harry’s tone softened but remained resolute. “I’m not taking sides. I’m just saying that yelling and pushing Y/N away isn’t going to fix anything.”

Scarlett’s face flushed with a mixture of anger and frustration. “Fine. If you’re going to protect her, then it’s your choice. Either she stays, or I do. What’s more important? Your new toy or your daughter?”

The ultimatum hit Harry like a punch to the gut. He looked at Y/N, her face pale and tear-streaked, and then back at Scarlett, whose own tears were threatening to fall.

Y/N’s heart shattered as she saw the pain in Scarlett’s eyes and the impossible position Harry was put in. She couldn’t bear to be the cause of this rift between them. With a sob, she stepped forward, her voice choked with emotion. “No. I’ll go.”

Scarlett’s face softened slightly as she saw Y/N’s tears, but her anger and hurt still lingered. Y/N’s body shook with heavy sobs as she made her way to the door, her heart breaking with each step. The room was filled with the sound of her cries and the silence of the weighty decision that had been made.

Harry stood frozen, his heart aching for both the women in his life. As Y/N left, the reality of the loss hit him, and he felt a profound sense of regret and helplessness. Scarlett, watching her father’s pained expression, felt a hollow victory, knowing that their relationship had come at the expense of their trust and friendship.

Time, they say, has a way of mending wounds, smoothing the sharp edges of pain, and gently nudging hearts toward healing. Yet, for all its promises of resolution, it often leaves behind a tapestry of memories, threads of regret, and remnants of what once was.

It had been six years since that fateful afternoon in the Bahamas—a day that had irreparably altered her life and her friendship with Scarlett.

Since then, Y/N and Scarlett had cut all ties. Their once-close bond had dissolved into silence and distance. Y/N had followed Scarlett’s life from a distance, seeing occasional updates through social media and mutual acquaintances. The final contact had been their graduation day, a day that had been bittersweet.

Y/N had watched from afar as Scarlett walked across the stage to receive her diploma. It was a poignant reminder of their fractured friendship. That day was also the last time Y/N saw Harry. Despite the passage of time, he still looked every bit as charming and dashing as he had back in the Bahamas. The sight of him, so effortlessly handsome, had stirred a mixture of longing and regret in Y/N.

Her heart had ached with the realization that she was seeing him for the last time. The way he carried himself, with the same confidence and grace, only served to highlight the loss she felt. They had parted ways with a heavy silence, and though she had tried to move on, the memories of their time together lingered.

Following Harry’s advice to find her true passion, she delved into the world of fiction writing. What began as a means to cope with her emotions evolved into a remarkable career. She poured her heart into her novels, using her writing as an escape and a way to process everything she had experienced, including the tumultuous events of that fateful summer in the Bahamas.

Her dedication and talent paid off. Y/N’s novels gained widespread acclaim, and she became a best-selling author, her books resonating with readers across the globe. The novel most notably inspired by her own life—the one that was based in her experiences with Scarlett and Harry—became a runaway success. It struck a chord with many and captivated audiences in a way she had never anticipated. The story, raw and poignant, was eventually adapted into a major film, further cementing her place in the literary world.

There was a knock on the door, and Y/N's assistant peeked in, her face lighting up with a bright smile. The bustling energy of New York City outside the window cast a lively backdrop to the scene. “Boss. They are ready for you,” her assistant announced, excitement evident in her voice.

Y/N took a deep breath, pushing aside the flutter of nerves that always accompanied public appearances. She rose from her seat, and the two of them walked together down the corridor toward the small room where the book signing was set to take place.

As they entered the room, Y/N’s heart skipped a beat at the sight before her. The space was packed with eager fans and rows of her books waiting to be signed. The long line of people stretched far, a testament to the success and reach of her work. The sight both humbled and thrilled her.

She made her way to the signing table, her smile growing as she looked out at the sea of faces. Shyly, she raised a hand in a wave, her cheeks flushing with a mix of shyness and gratitude. The warmth of the audience’s reception was palpable, and as she settled into her chair, she felt a renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment.

The book signing event was in full swing. Y/N’s hand moved swiftly across the pages as she signed book after book, exchanging warm words with her readers.

After a quick lunch, a momentary pause to recharge, Y/N returned to the signing table, refreshed and ready to continue. The line of people waiting for her autograph seemed never-ending, but the energy in the room was invigorating

“Who do I make this one for?” She asked as a book was slipped on front of her on the table. She opened the first page of the book and held her pen to the paper, waiting for an answer before looking up.

“To Harry” came the reply.

Y/N paused, her pen hovering above the page. The name "Harry" echoed in her mind, stirring a mix of memories and emotions she had thought long buried. She glanced up, meeting the eyes of the person who had requested the dedication. There was a brief moment of silence as she grappled with the unexpected jolt of the name.

The realization hit her like a wave: this was no ordinary reader, but the very Harry she had known from her past. The coincidence was staggering, and her heart skipped a beat.

"Harry?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, a mix of shock and curiosity coloring her tone.

The moment was surreal. Y/N looked at him, trying to reconcile the man before her with the memories she had kept at bay for so long. He looked older, yet unmistakably the same Harry she remembered—still dashing, with an air of charm that was both familiar and disarming.

"I—I'm surprised to see you," Y/N stammered, her mind racing to catch up with the unexpected turn of events.

Harry chuckled softly, his gaze gentle. "I had to come. You found your passion”.

Y/N struggled to find the right words, but in that instant, everything else seemed to fall away, leaving just the two of them standing at the intersection of their past and the present.

Y/N cleared her throat, realizing that the line of readers waiting behind Harry was growing impatient. She glanced over at the queue and then back at him, her mind still reeling from the surprise encounter.

“I'm sorry,” she said, her voice slightly flustered. “I have to keep up with the line”.

Harry shook his head with a reassuring smile. “No problem. We should catch up, though. It’s been a long time.”

Y/N, momentarily speechless, nodded in agreement. “Yes, that sounds good.”

She finished signing his book, her fingers moving mechanically as she processed the whirlwind of emotions. Harry leaned in, giving her one of his famous, cheeky smiles that had always made her heart flutter.

“I’ll see you soon,” he said, his tone light and promising. With a quick wave, he slipped away into the bustling crowd, leaving Y/N standing there with a mix of anticipation and nostalgia.

When Harry finally made it home, he settled into a quiet space and opened the book he had just received. On the first page, beneath her signature, he found a handwritten note: her phone number and the simple phrase, “The one that got away.” The words struck a chord deep within him, a reminder of the past that had never truly faded.
