Author's note: i though of giving you something else for the day! It's obviously shorter than the majority of the one shot that I write, but it's cute and I though of sharing. Let me know what you think and if you would like for me to write a few of these throughout the week!

Her safe space had always been there. She would hide between the dusty, numerous page books, finding solace amidst the crisp, yellowed pages and the comforting scent of aged paper. The library was more than just a job for Y/N; it was a sanctuary where the world’s noise faded into the hushed whispers of the written word.

It was in this quiet haven that Y/N first noticed Harry Styles, a figure of casual elegance, who seemed to wander through the aisles as if searching for something elusive. He frequently entered the library with an understated presence, a soft thoughtful smile gracing his lips. His appearance suggested he had just come from a workout; his hair slight tousled and his athletic wear — though casual — looked like it had been carefully chosen for both comfort and style.

He always carried a study tote bag slung over his shoulder, its contents a mystery to those around him, a steaming cup of coffee in his other hand, the aroma of freshly brewed expresso lingering in his wake. There was a discipline to his routine that caught Y/N’s attention every time he walked though the library doors. His commitment to his fitness regimen was evident, and she often found herself admiring his dedication and the effortless way he balanced it with his love for books.

Their initial interactions were brief and polite—an exchange of pleasantries, a nod, a smile—but there was something intriguing about him that lingered long after he left. Harry’s quiet demeanor added to his intrigue. He didn’t seek attention ut rather seemed content to blend into the background.

The library’s charm was in its old-world character, with its wooden shelves stretching to the high ceilings and soft lighting casting gentle shadows across the reading nooks. Y/N had always found comfort here, in the familiarity of the place and the stories it held. It was her refuge from the chaos of the outside world, and the quiet companionship of books had been her constant.

It was a Tuesday afternoon when things began to change. The sun filtered through the tall windows, casting warm, golden rays on the scattered books. Y/N was shelving new arrivals when Harry walked in, carrying a stack of books. His eyes sparkled with curiosity, and he greeted her with a friendly, albeit shy, smile.

“Hey, do you know if this author’s latest book is in yet?” he asked, setting the stack down on the counter. His voice was soft, almost hesitant, as if he was not just asking about a book, but seeking something more personal.

Y/N glanced at the stack and then at Harry. “I haven’t seen it come in yet, but I can check for you.”

Harry nodded gratefully, and as Y/N turned to check the catalog, he ventured to browse through the nearby shelves. There was something endearing about his quiet enthusiasm for reading, and Y/N couldn’t help but be intrigued by him.

“We just got it in yesterday” She replied, her smile widening as she retrieved the book from the shelf behind her. ‘I can set it aside for you. Do you want to borrow it now?”

Harry’s face lit up with genuine enthusiasm. “That would be great, thanks. I’ve been looking forward to this one.”

As Y/N placed the book on the counter, she glanced at the cover with a touch of curiosity. “It looks like a good read. I’ve heard some pretty interesting things about it.”

Harry nodded appreciatively, his eyes reflecting the warmth of the library’s soft lighting. ‘I’ve heard the same. I trust your recommendations. You’ve never streeted me wrong”.

Y/N felt a flush of pleasure at his compliment, a soft blush coloring her cheeks. “I'm glad to hear that. I always enjoy hearing what people think about the books they borrow”.

“Wel, I’ll make sure to let you know” Harry said with a sincere smile. He leaned slightly closer, his gaze engaging. “And speaking of recommendations, have you read anything exciting recently?”

Y/N’s eyes lit up with enthusiasm as she leaned against the counter, the excitement in her voice evident. “Actually, I just finished a novel that I think you’d like. It’s got a really compelling plot and great character development.”

“That sounds perfect,” Harry replied, his interest piqued. “I’ll add it to my list. Thanks for the tip.”

“No problem,” Y/N said as she began wrapping the book in brown paper. “I’ll get this one ready for you.”

Harry’s smile was warm and appreciative as he took a sip of his coffee, the steam rising gently. “Thanks. I’ll see you around.”

“Definitely,” Y/N responded, returning his smile with equal warmth. “Enjoy the book!”

As Harry walked away, the soft jingle of the library’s door signaling his departure, Y/N felt a flutter of anticipation.

A few days later, as she was reorganizing the fiction section, she discovered a small, handwritten note nestled between the pages of a book Harry had borrowed. The note was simple but charming, featuring a quote from the book and a small, doodled heart with the initial “H.”

“Thought you might enjoy this passage. Hope your day’s been good. – H”

Y/N’s curiosity was piqued. She smiled at the note’s thoughtful nature, and a flutter of excitement stirred within her. The next day, Harry returned, and as he picked out another book, Y/N couldn’t help but notice the small, intriguing notes that now seemed to appear in various books he borrowed.

Their conversations grew warmer and more personal with each visit. They discussed favorite genres, authors, and personal stories, always punctuated by the occasional note left by Harry. Each note was a glimpse into his thoughts, and Y/N cherished them, feeling a deeper connection with him through his written words.

One chilly afternoon, as the first hints of autumn painted the library in shades of orange and gold, Harry arrived with a new stack of books. He seemed a bit nervous, glancing occasionally at Y/N, who was behind the desk.

“Have you read any of these?” he asked, setting the books down.

Y/N took the opportunity to engage him more directly. “Actually, I’ve read a few of them. What’s your favorite so far?”

As they discussed the books, Harry’s nervousness seemed to ease, and their conversation flowed naturally. The library’s cozy atmosphere seemed to draw them closer, and Y/N found herself eagerly awaiting each visit from Harry.

That day, as Harry left with his books, Y/N discovered a new note. It was more personal and heartfelt than the previous ones.

“I’ve really enjoyed our conversations. They’ve become the best part of my days. Would you like to continue them over coffee sometime? – H”

Y/N’s heart skipped a beat. She was touched by the note’s sincerity and warmth. She looked forward to seeing Harry again and, perhaps, to exploring what might come next in their story.
