The tension in the pack house was suffocating. For three days, Harry and Y/N had been avoiding each other, each lost in their own storm of emotions. The pack could feel the change. The Alpha was distant, restless, and his wolf — always quiet and calculating — now stirred restlessly within him. As for Y/N, her eyes were hollow with exhaustion, though she would never admit it. She hadn't slept, and even though she kept telling herself it didn't matter, it was wearing her down.
Harry had been awake for nearly seventy-two hours, and even though his mind screamed for rest, he couldn’t bring himself to let go. Zion’s voice was quieter, but still, he could feel the pull to go to her, to bridge the gap that had formed between them. Yet, every time he tried to reach out, she pulled further away.
Niall entered the office, his footsteps heavy on the wooden floor as he crossed the room toward Harry. The familiar scent of tension lingered in the air, but he knew the time had come.
“Aiden’s ready to talk,” Niall said bluntly, breaking the silence.
Harry’s shoulders stiffened. His eyes flickered, tired yet sharp. "Is he, now?" His voice was a low growl, a subtle edge to it that hinted at the frustration he could no longer contain. The last three days had done nothing to ease the turmoil inside him.
Niall nodded, though there was a trace of unease in his expression. “He’s been asking for her, but I told him you’d be the one to decide how this goes. You’re the Alpha.”
Harry took a slow, deliberate breath, trying to suppress the anger and frustration. “I don’t care about Aiden right now,” he muttered, the weight of the words pressing down on him. He ran a hand through his hair, his gaze slipping over the stack of papers on the desk — anything to avoid the growing knot in his chest. “Where is he?”
“Dungeons,” Niall replied. “Just... try not to do something you’ll regret, alright? We need to get this over with.”
Harry stood up, his muscles aching, his body begging for rest. His exhaustion was evident in the way he moved, but there was no time to slow down. Not yet. He had to face Aiden. Had to get the answers.
But there was something nagging at him — something deeper than just the situation with Aiden. It was Y/N. Her silence, her coldness, the way she had withdrawn from him. The bond was fraying, each second of distance pulling them further apart. Zion growled within him, a bitter reminder of what was slipping through his fingers.
"Come on," Harry said, his voice flat. "Let’s go see what he has to say."
Niall followed him out, but just as they reached the door, Harry hesitated. His eyes flickered toward the hallway. Towards her room. The tension in his chest tightened, but he quickly pushed it down. He couldn’t think about that now.
The room was suffocating with tension. The only sound that broke the silence was Aiden’s shallow breathing as he sat in the chair, shackled and bruised. Harry stood before him, his body tense, his fists clenched, and his eyes darker than anyone had ever seen them. The air felt thick, almost suffocating, as Harry’s wolf, Zion, pressed against the surface, gnashing at the bars of its cage. The instinct to destroy, to rip Aiden apart, was almost too much to bear.
But Harry didn’t give in.
He wasn’t going to let Aiden control this.
“You think you’re gonna walk away from this?” Harry’s voice was dangerously low, barely above a growl. He stepped forward, his boots scraping across the concrete floor, and grabbed Aiden by the collar, pulling him up from the chair. “You think you’ve got any chance of getting out of here? I don’t give a fuck who you are or who you think you’re working for. You’re gonna tell me everything, or I’ll make you wish you had.”
Aiden sneered, blood dripping from the corner of his mouth, but he wasn’t backing down. "You really think you’ve got me, don’t you? You’re a fucking joke, Harry. You’ll never break me.”
The arrogance in Aiden’s tone only made Harry’s anger flare hotter, like a wildfire taking over his body. He slammed Aiden back into the chair with enough force to rattle the walls. “You have no idea who you’re talking to, do you? I’ve had it with your fucking games, Aiden. I’m the goddamn Alpha, and you will talk.”
Aiden laughed—dry, humorless. The sound grated against Harry’s nerves. “You don’t scare me. You think you’re some big bad Alpha? You’ve got no idea what’s going on, Harry. You’re too busy protecting your precious Luna to see the bigger picture.”
Harry’s eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched so tightly it could’ve cracked. Zion was pacing in his mind, demanding control, snarling at the thought of Aiden’s disrespect.
“You think I’m fucking blind?” Harry spat, his voice rising. “You think you can insult me, waste my time with these cryptic bullshit answers, and think you’ll walk away unscathed? I’ll rip you apart if you don’t tell me who the hell you’re working for, Aiden. And if you even think about keeping quiet, I’ll make you scream for mercy.”
Aiden’s grin twisted into something colder, more dangerous. "I’m not the one you should be worried about, Harry. You’re wasting your time on me. I’m just a pawn in someone else’s game. You want answers? Then ask the people in your own fucking pack.”
Harry froze. His heart skipped a beat. “What the fuck are you talking about?”
Aiden leaned in, blood smearing across his teeth as he smirked. “The council, Harry. You think everything is just happening for no reason? You think I’m the only one making moves? The truth’s out there, but it’s buried under all your fucking lies.”
Harry’s grip tightened on Aiden’s shirt, his fingers trembling with rage. "You want to make accusations? You want to talk about lies? You’d better tell me who the fuck is pulling your strings. Who the hell sent you to kill my pack?”
Aiden sneered, his voice dripping with venom. “You really want to know? Fine. You want to know who’s behind all of this? It’s someone who’s higher than you, Harry. Someone in your own damn pack, in the council. They sent me because they want to make sure the truth never comes out. The truth about her.”
Harry’s heart thudded painfully in his chest. “What truth? About her? You’re not making any sense. You better start talking, Aiden.”
Aiden chuckled darkly, his eyes narrowing. "The truth about Y/N, Harry. You’ve been so focused on protecting her, on keeping her safe, but you have no fucking clue what she really is, do you?”
Harry’s mind raced. He could feel the world tilting beneath his feet. “What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”
Aiden’s smile turned twisted. “She’s not just some random girl, Harry. She’s the daughter of someone who could ruin everything for your precious pack. And you’re too fucking blind to see it. You’re too busy being her goddamn hero to understand what she’s really a part of.”
Harry’s pulse quickened, and Zion growled loudly, almost uncontrollable now. “You’re lying. You’re fucking lying. What’s your angle, Aiden?”
Aiden’s eyes gleamed with malice. “You think I’m lying? You think I’m just making shit up? No, Harry. You’re the one who’s blind. The truth will come out, but by the time it does, it’ll be too late for you and your pack. You won’t even know what hit you.”
Harry’s rage flared up like a wildfire, and this time, he didn’t hold back. He slammed his fist into the table next to Aiden with a thunderous crash, sending the metal rattling. “I’ll fucking kill you if you don’t tell me everything, right now, Aiden. Everything. Who in the council hired you? Who sent you to kill my pack? Who the hell is trying to hide the truth?”
Aiden leaned back in his chair, his smile widening. "You think I’m going to tell you? Nah. You’re not gonna get the answers from me, Harry. Not yet, anyway.”
Zion’s growl shook the very walls, and Harry’s control snapped. He was done being patient. His wolf demanded blood, demanded answers, and Harry couldn’t hold back anymore. “You’re making a fucking mistake, Aiden. Don’t push me. I’m the Alpha, and I don’t give second chances.”
Aiden’s smirk faltered, and for a split second, Harry saw fear flicker in his eyes. It didn’t last. He quickly regained his composure, and Harry could feel the shift in his demeanor—the shift from arrogance to something much darker.
“I’ll tell you one thing,” Aiden muttered, his voice cold. “You want to find out who’s really behind this? You’ll have to dig deeper. But I won’t be the one to hand you the shovel.”
As Niall released Aiden’s head from his grip, the rogue groaned, clutching his face where Niall had struck him. His vision was blurred, and his breath was heavy, but his eyes were locked on the door. “I need to see her,” Aiden rasped, his voice a low whisper, barely audible. “I need to talk to Y/N.”
Harry’s laugh was dark and low, almost mocking. “You think she’s going to come running to you after everything you’ve done? You’ve lost your fucking mind.”
Niall shook his head in frustration as Aiden let out a strained groan, clearly still dazed from the blow. But Harry’s gaze never wavered. His anger was palpable. The wolf inside him was ready to tear through the walls, eager to punish whoever had dared to cross him.
Meanwhile, Y/N stood in the kitchen, rolling dough and making preparations for the pot roast. The scent of garlic and rosemary filled the air, and the cake in the oven was beginning to rise, filling the house with its sweet warmth. She had always found comfort in cooking for the pack, a small act of kindness in a world that seemed to be shifting beneath her feet.
She was trying to push away the dark thoughts that had been weighing on her, but they lingered in the back of her mind. The confrontation with Harry... Aiden... The pack's growing distrust of her. Y/N didn't know how to fix things, didn't know how to make amends. She wanted to speak to Harry, but with the way things had been, she didn’t know where to even start.
Sienna was at the counter next to her, helping chop vegetables for the roast. They hadn’t spoken much, but Y/N could sense her concern, the subtle glances of pity whenever they crossed paths. Sienna was just trying to be there for her, but Y/N was beginning to feel like there was no way out of this mess.
Just as Y/N turned to check on the cake in the oven, she heard the door open. It was the unmistakable sound of heavy boots across the kitchen floor. The tension in her spine rose instantly. She didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. The air had shifted, and she could feel Zion’s presence in the house—his frustration, his rage.
Harry walked through the back door with a storm cloud hanging over him, his face a mask of anger and determination. Niall, Radcliffe, and the omega followed behind, the silence in the room only adding to the growing sense of dread. Y/N’s heart sank. She didn’t even need to ask—she already knew. Something had happened. The atmosphere in the room was thick with tension.
Without even acknowledging her, Harry made his way through the mudroom and toward the hallway, his steps heavy and deliberate. He was a man on a mission—except this time, it wasn’t the kind that made her feel safe.
Y/N, sensing the storm inside him, turned slowly, her voice barely above a whisper. "What happened?" She asked, her voice trembling slightly with concern. Her eyes moved over to Niall, his face grim, and then to Radcliffe, who only shook his head in silence.
Niall's gaze flickered to Harry’s back before he spoke, his tone laced with frustration. “It’s Aiden.”
The name hit her like a slap to the face. Aiden—the man she had been protecting, the man she thought was misunderstood. The same man who had caused chaos and bloodshed, and yet, here she was, still questioning herself about his actions. Was it too late to fix things? Was there any chance of peace?
Y/N turned her back to the counter, the cool tile against her palms grounding her. “Aiden?” She repeated, her mind spinning. “What happened?”
Niall’s voice dropped to a lower register, his words heavy with a bitterness Y/N had never heard from him before. “He’s been playing you, Y/N. He’s been lying to everyone, including you. The bastard’s been working for someone in the pack—the council. He’s been using you to keep things hidden.”
Y/N’s heart dropped into her stomach. She hadn’t been wrong to question her instincts. But hearing it from Niall—hearing that Aiden had been manipulating her this whole time—it shattered something inside her.
Harry’s voice suddenly cut through the tension, his voice steely and cold. “I told you, Y/N. I told you he was dangerous. You’ve put us all at risk by hiding him, by protecting him. And now, look where we are.”
Y/N stiffened. She had known this conversation was coming. She had been waiting for it, dreading it. But hearing it from Harry—seeing the way his anger bled through his words—it hit her harder than she expected.
“I—" Y/N started, but she didn't know what to say. What could she say? She had lied, she had kept things from Harry. But in her defense, she had been trying to protect him, trying to keep the truth from shattering their fragile relationship. She hadn’t known where it would lead.
“I never should’ve let you get close to him. He’s been manipulating us both.” Harry continued, his tone now softer, but laced with hurt.
Y/N swallowed hard, trying to fight back the tears that were threatening to spill. She wasn’t sure if they were for Aiden or for herself. She was caught between two worlds—her loyalty to Harry and the pack, and her misplaced need to understand Aiden’s side of the story.
“I didn’t know,” Y/N whispered, her voice hoarse. “I didn’t know, Harry. I thought... I thought maybe he was different.”
“Does it matter?” Harry snapped, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. “Does it really matter if you thought he was different? He wasn’t, Y/N. He’s been using you to get what he wanted, and you were too blind to see it.”
The pain in Harry’s voice broke something inside of her. She had failed him. She had failed them both. And now she had to live with that.
The tension in the pack house was unbearable, thick in the air like smoke from a fire that had long since been extinguished. The walls of their once peaceful home now felt suffocating, as if every inch was closing in on Y/N. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think. Her mind spun with the weight of everything she had done, everything she had kept hidden, and the lies she had told to Harry.
Harry had just finished a conversation with Niall and Radcliffe about Aiden. The room was heavy with frustration, regret, and disappointment. Harry was pacing around, his boots making sharp, angry sounds against the floor as he tried to contain the storm brewing inside him.
Y/N stood in the corner of the room, feeling smaller than she ever had in her life. Her heart felt as if it were being squeezed, crushed with every step Harry took. The tension in his body was palpable, Zion’s anger thrumming through his Alpha’s veins. The two of them were like fire and ice, rage and hurt clashing inside him, but Y/N couldn’t ignore the look in Harry’s eyes when he finally stopped pacing and looked at her.
He was furious. She knew it. She could feel it. But there was also something else there—a deep hurt, a sorrow she had never seen before.
“Harry...” Y/N’s voice trembled. “I’m so sorry. I—” Her words got caught in her throat as her chest tightened. She was trying to find the right thing to say, to make him understand, but nothing came out. All she could do was watch him as he stared at her.
The room was silent, and the tension between them crackled like static in the air. Harry didn’t move. He was too angry to say anything, too hurt to speak. His eyes darkened, and for a moment, he almost looked like a stranger to her. She had never seen him like this before—so distant, so cold.
“I should’ve told you,” Y/N whispered, her voice barely audible. “I should’ve been honest with you. I shouldn’t have kept secrets.” She took a step forward, her hand reaching out to him, but he recoiled, his body tense. “I didn’t mean for this to happen. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
Harry’s jaw clenched as he turned his back to her, shaking his head in disbelief. “You lied to me, Y/N,” he muttered, his voice strained. “You kept secrets from me. You hid things that could’ve put everyone at risk. Why? Why couldn’t you just trust me?”
The words stung, slicing through her chest with brutal precision. “I didn’t want to lose you, Harry.” She swallowed hard, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. “I didn’t want to lose the pack, the family I’ve just found. I didn’t want to disappoint you.”
His eyes met hers, the raw pain in them making her heart ache. His wolf, Zion, raged inside him, the anger pushing against the bond they shared. But there was something more there, something she could see flickering behind his anger—a trace of sadness, of heartache. It hurt her more than anything else.
“I did trust you, Y/N,” Harry said, his voice barely above a whisper. “I trusted you with everything. And you betrayed that trust.”
The finality in his words hit her like a punch to the gut. She knew he was right. He had trusted her, and she had let him down. He was a man of honor, of loyalty, and she had broken that bond. The weight of her mistake crashed down on her shoulders, and she felt the tears welling up in her eyes once again.
“I’m sorry,” she repeated, her voice cracking. “I never wanted to hurt you. I never wanted to hurt us.”
A sob broke through her chest, and she couldn’t hold it in any longer. The tears that had been building for days finally spilled over, the guilt and grief pouring out of her in uncontrollable waves. She stepped forward again, desperate for him to understand, desperate to make things right, but Harry turned his back on her again, pacing away from her in frustration.
Y/N took a shaky breath, her hands trembling at her sides as she tried to steady herself. But nothing she did could stop the sobs that wracked her body. She had failed him. She had failed them all. She had betrayed the one person who had always been there for her, and it was too much to bear.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered through her tears. “I didn’t mean to do this.”
Harry stood there, his back still to her, but he was no longer moving. He was silent, tense. And then, after what felt like an eternity, he spoke, his voice quieter now, his words laced with pain. “You are sorry, Y/N. But that doesn’t change what’s happened. You don’t just get to undo all of this.”
Y/N took another step forward, her heart aching, her hands reaching out to him, but this time, he didn’t pull away. He didn’t turn from her. Instead, she could feel the weight of his hurt, the frustration of it all, and the desperation in her chest.
“Please,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “I don’t want to lose you. I don’t want to lose us.”
Her breath caught in her throat, and in that moment, all of the walls she had built around her crumbled. The vulnerability that she had been holding inside for so long, the fear of rejection, of not being enough, all of it spilled out in an emotional flood.
Harry stood motionless for a moment, and then, with a heavy sigh, he turned to face her. His expression was unreadable, but his eyes were dark, full of the pain he had been holding inside. “I don’t know what to say, Y/N,” he murmured, his voice rough. “I don’t know how to fix this.”
Y/N’s heart broke even further. “I don’t know either,” she whispered, her hands reaching for him, desperate for some kind of reassurance, some sign that he could forgive her.
But it wasn’t enough.
Instead, Harry stepped forward, wrapping his arms around her tightly. For a moment, everything stopped. The world around them seemed to fade away as she felt the warmth of his body against hers, the heat of his breath on her forehead. Zion’s anger was still a presence, a force within Harry, but even his wolf couldn’t ignore the deep pain Y/N was feeling.
She buried her face in his chest, her tears soaking through his shirt. “I’m sorry,” she choked out again, her voice muffled by his embrace. “I’m so sorry, Harry.”
And for the first time since all of this had started, Harry pulled her even closer, his hand running through her hair. “I know,” he murmured softly, his voice gentle despite everything. “I know, pup.”
But even as he held her, Zion’s anger still burned. The pain of betrayal was a heavy thing, and it wouldn’t just vanish because they were together. But for now, in this moment, Harry would hold her. He would protect her. He would fight for their bond—no matter how broken it was.
let me know what you think!
