Author's note: Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing great! I am sorry that I've been a bit inactive lately, but last month I really posted 7 chapters and I needed a bit of a break. Med school is about to start soon. It begins on the 17th. Once I got back, I will be posting six chapters of different a month. My aunt is also back from China for a few weeks and since I haven't seen her in her TWO YEARS. I've been trying to get the most out of it. Anyway, without further do! Here is a new chapter of different. Happy reading! Love you all!

THE NEXT NEW CHAPTER WILL BE POSTED ON WEDNESDAY!

Had she deserved everything that he had said to her that night?

Y/N asked herself ever since that day. It had been a month and a half since the occurrence. They were still distant and none of them had said anything to the other nor had they had any sort of contact.

Harry was scared to reach out. He felt like she would never forgive him. After he had arrived home, he realized he had overreacted about something that had occurred before they even met. Harry also came to find out days later that James and Y/N didn’t feel anything toward each other. Sure, they cared about the other and felt protective, but they never crossed the boundary that they had established after that night in Spain. They promised one another to never cross it and they’ve never done it ever again. It made Harry feel even worst after Sarah told him and explained everything to him after she had a long private chat with James.

The two girls met at least four times a week to work out. Sometimes the boys would tag along for hikes or even for runs down the street. Sarah and Y/N had grown quite close since the event, and even though Harry was her best friend, she supported her. Sarah had no doubt that Y/N also felt a bit guilty for not telling Harry, but he had taken it out of proportion.

“What are you doing this weekend?” Sarah and Y/N sat in a cafe just a few blocks away from the Pilates studio that they had gone to. They had ordered acai bowls and were enjoying them with some coffee.

“Nothing much” Y/N tried to blend her coffee with her milk. “Sebastian wanted to go skiing. You should come!” He had been begging Y/N to go with him and James. And it wasn’t because of her skiing skills, but because he just wanted to pull Y/N out of the atmosphere. He believed she needed a breather.

“Where?” Sarah had gone skiing, but only up north and she wasn’t a fan of it.

“Aspen. We’ll fly over there all together” she said as if it wasn’t a big deal. Sarah snorted and shook her head at her friend. “What?”.

“You really think I got the money to pay for a ticket to Aspen? I barely have money to afford lunch” They both laughed along with the joke. Y/N found it silly that Sarah thought that she expected her to pay for the flight. After all, Y/N was the one who was inviting her.

“Who said you got to pay for a ticket? I am inviting you. Don’t be silly” Her phone vibrated on the table, desperately calling for her attention.  It was James asking her if she wanted to fly commercial or private. He was making all the arrangements since they were staying at his family home.

“You are crazy. I am not letting you pay” Sarah objected to the idea. Sarah thought that it would make her feel like she owed her something.

“I don’t even know why I am asking you. You are getting your ass on the plane whether you like it or not. I will drag you if I must. We are leaving on Thursday” Y/N typed a quick text letting the boys know that Sarah had agreed. Sarah just laughed knowing that there was no point in arguing with her, plus Aspen didn’t sound so displeasing. There wasn’t much to do on the North Shore, especially in winter. Everything was closed and the beach was frozen, leaving cuddling and watching movies as the only two options.

“Fine. What do I tell my mom?” Sarah asked as she continued eating.

“Just tell her that you are coming to Aspen with us. James’s family is going. There is no need to lie right?” James's mom rarely traveled out with them, but she wanted to spend a long weekend, cuddled up on the couch, by the fire with a large glass of Malbec and a book in her hands. She had tagged along to the trip especially now that all the kids were grown up and she no longer had to worry about anything.

“I am so excited! Only five days left!” Y/N loved the snow even if sometimes the cloudy days made her feel depressed, she enjoyed a winter day by the mountains. “Also, we’ve never had another girl come along” Sarah knew how frustrating and lonely she felt on those occasions. Especially when other girls threw themselves at the boys and they flirted back.

“I’ll pick you up that day. You just worry about having a suitcase. Bring a swimsuit also, they have a jacuzzi” They continued eating having a light conversation about what Sarah should bring on the trip and what their outfits were going to be. “Let me drive you back,” Y/N told her urging her to get the car.

Sarah couldn’t stop thinking of ways to get Harry on the trip. It was the perfect way for them to reconsolidate, so she began plotting ideas and plans to execute. She just needed to get them in the same room.

“I forgot to tell you!” Sarah exclaimed as she came up with the perfect idea to make them meet up. “There is a small get-together at my friend’s house tomorrow. Do you want to come with me?”

“Sure,” Y/N said carelessly as she drove down the road very carefully. A bunch of snow had fallen, and she wasn’t confident in her driving skills on the snow. “What time?”

“Around six. We’ll meet up at mine. It’s close to campus” Y/N dropped her off at her dorm before heading to the store to pick up some stuff for the trip. She was too excited about the trip to remember that Harry was part of Sarah’s friend group and that he was most likely attending the get-together that she had blindly agreed to.

The next day, Y/N wore a pair of jeans and threw on some random sweater and a pair of sneakers. Y/N left her hair down and yanked a beanie on before heading out to meet Sarah.

“What did your mom say?” Y/N blew into her hands as they walked down the street toward her friend’s house. It was freezing cold, and her nose was runny. Sarah insisted on her leaving the car parked on campus because there was no parking space at her friend’s. It was already dark outside and barely five-thirty. They were all getting together to have some pizza and watch a movie.

“She said it was okay as long as I got her something” They both laughed as they finally walked up to the front door of the house and that’s when it hit her.

“Wait!” She said as Sarah knocked on the door.

“What’s going on?”

“Harry—” but before she could finish the sentence the front door was answered.

“You made it!” He smiled at Sarah and pulled her into a tight hug. “Hi,” he smiled at Y/N who awkwardly stood behind her while fiddling with her fingers.

“Oh! This is Y/N!” Sarah pulled her into the house.

“This is Y/N?! Holy shit!” Liam smiled as he closed the front door shut. “You are so much prettier than I imagined!”

“That is so sweet! Thank you! It’s also nice to meet you” She responded as she took off her coat and scarf.

“Come on in! I hope you like pizza!” Liam had heard about Y/N through both Sarah and Harry.

Harry was already in the house but in the living room sitting between Mitch and another close friend. Harry had described to Liam her beauty and at first, Liam had thought that he was exaggerating, but now that he had met her, he was amazed. He couldn’t believe that Harry had actually been with a girl like her. “Sarah is here and so is Y/N!” he announced as he walked into the crowded living room.

Harry instantly froze when he heard her name. For a second, He thought he was dreaming, and it wasn’t until she walked in that he realized that it wasn’t a fantasy. The first thing he noticed was the beanie on her head. It made him smile. She looked adorable.

“Hi,” she shyly waved at everyone in the room feeling extremely uncomfortable with the looks that everyone was giving her. Some were actually surprised by her beauty while others knew who she was and what had happened between her and their friend.

“Y/N!” Mitch jumped from his seat and went for a tight hug. When he heard the story, he wanted to hit Harry and make him disappear. “I thought I would never see you again!” Y/N giggled as Mitch settled her back down after giving her a few twirls.

“Here take my seat” Mitch offered her his spot with the intention of getting the two of them to talk and work things out. He sat on the floor beside Sarah.  Either way, it was a win-win for him.

“Hi,” Harry whispered as she carefully settled beside him making sure that she wasn’t touching him in any way. She didn’t want to make him uncomfortable.

“Hi,” she breathed but didn’t even look at him. She knew that if she allowed herself to get lost in his eyes, she was going to burst into tears. Y/N remained stiff and tried her best to eat the pizza that Sarah had handed her.

“We are watching The Joker” All the boys cheered as Liam leaned over and turned off the light in the living room and hit play. The room got dark, and the movie began. Everyone’s attention turned directly toward the screen. It was quiet except for Joaquin Phoenix’s voice which echoed in the room.

Harry felt like he was getting asphyxiated by her scent. He could smell her flowery perfume. He also now hated the damn beanie that she was wearing. It made her look so cute and cuddly. His hands ached and he just wanted to cup her face and kiss her with all his might.

Y/N felt like she couldn’t breathe. She felt like she was stuck on the elevator and the air was getting sucked right out. She sat still with her legs tightly closed and her hands, gripping tightly to the paper plate that carried her half-eaten pizza. It was twenty minutes into the movie when she realized that she couldn’t do it anymore.

“Sorry,” she whispered as she raised from the couch and started making her way out of the room. Y/N kept her head down, making sure not to step on anyone’s fingers or hands. She fled from the room. She stood outside in the wintry weather as she tried her best to gather thoughts.

It was a dark and silent night. The street was barely illuminated making it easy for anyone who walked on them to get lost. The steps leading up to the front door of Liam’s were covered with a thin layer of ice. Therefore, she stood on the edge of the street.

“Y/N” he fiddled with his fingers after he had closed the front door behind him. He was nervous just like the day he had first met her, maybe even worst. He felt like crying and kneeling before her. He felt like begging for her forgiveness.

“Yeah” her voice was soft and gentle and different from what it had been the last time they had talked.

“Can we please talk?” She turned around after she had wiped her tears quickly.  He had the power to make her crumble easily.

“Okay” was all she said.

Im confused. Didn't she already meet Liam? Am i missing something ? I love this story! Not happy with Harry right now for basically slut shaming her especially after she told him what Brian did to her.

BTW I dont know if it is just on my phone but the collection for Different only has 13 chapters. It stops at 12 and has 25 but missing 13 to 24. I had to type different in your search box to see all chapters. Not a big deal but might confuse some.

I was just in the process of adding them all to the collection and organizing them as I am proofreading! 💞I thought it would be confusing too!
