So, I've reached a bit of a crossroads. I usually write out an outline that covers 3-4 chapters beyond the drafts. I've reached the end of that outline. I still have story beats that I want to hit, but because Aaron isn't hyper-fixated on the traditional badge route, I'm very flexible with the order in which things happen.

Which begs the question: After Petalburg, where to?

Depends on if Our protag can secure stabling for more than 6 pokemon but Rustboro sounds okay for getting a badge and then onto dewfprd

Give us some info on each please. I don’t know the region at all. If you can’t decide, you can always write a chapter of PWP and that might help you decide. Totally not because I just want to see the aftermath of an Endbringer fight (which almost no fic covers).

Rustboro is a city, home to Devon corp and rock type leader Roxane as well as a trainer school. Relative proximity(separated by a route) to Whismur cave(whismur whismur whismur), Petalburg Woods(shroomish, slakoth) and Meteor Falls(some rock/psychics, bagon) Dewford is a water-locked beachside town, home to fighting type leader Brawly with proximity to Granite cave(nosepass, makuhita, abra, mawile, aron, sableeye) as well as some ocean locations, including the hidden home of legendary Regiice. The listed Pokémon are limited to hoen and does not include some common or national dex (post game) encounters. Plus Pokémon that would make sense in terms of lore but aren’t there cuz game.

The Dewford first route would imply turning around and going to Fallarbor town, which takes you through hostile Draconoid territory. It's better to avoid it. Rustoboro first instead has you pass through Slateport and Mauville again after Dewford. Even if the Gyms aren't the end goal, they're still an Instrumental goal. Those tryhards will need a challenge and the Gyms and Elite Four are good stepping stones. Question: do the game protagonists exist? It's precanon right now so there's years to prepare for a potential Mt. Silver Red fight. It'd be a shame to not have the pinnacles of the pokemon world around to challenge.

I honestly wouldn’t care. I assume both cities will eventually get featured so whichever one comes first doesn’t really matter. I’d say just write what you want.

What does Aaron think about the mental age vs physical age dichotomy he's forced under? Does he feel like people his age are children? Because people his mental age view him as a child. Which is more important, not being or with a pedo or being forever alone? It's a legitimate moral choice reincarnators have to face. Serial reincarnators especially.

Rustboro would be a lot more fun to read. There are a lot of potentially strong pokemon there which would become strong at their final evolution but keep the team balanced till then and provide some nice new typing to the team. Additionally, rusboro has a rock type gym which would be more fun to fight now because it would be too easy later in the story. The Mac only has one super effective pokemon, Mankey, so the win if they get it will feel much more earned. Lots of cool areas to explore around rustboro like the forest and they are all within the mcs level range. Def go rustboro.

Rustburo makes more sense, Mankey has just got a lesson from another fighting type and It would make sense that he should process that into his own style before he gets other styles from the fighting types in Dewford.
