Content

Building Your Battlegroup came out as the clear victor of Pilot Week IV, but your work is not done yet. What should the first regular episode of this new sub-series cover? A UNSC Armored regiment in the final days of the Human-Covenant War? A mercenary company trying to find fame and glory in Westeros? A Stargate Team focused on confronting the Goa'uld? Or a the standing army of a petty tyrant in the Border Princes?

Honestly, we have had a lot of hard sci-fi and Warhammer stuff. I would be in favour of going more lowkey, and see how a mercenary company in Westeros would look.

James Calum

Aw I was hoping for an anti Reaper fleet for Mass Effect

Douglas Ribeiro

I love my sci-fi as much as most people here, I'm sure. But there are other kinds of alternate worlds to explore. Westeros mercenaries (also as a stand-in for general medieval army) would be a nice change of pace.

Cassie Bode

The stargate one would be the most interesting since it being the 90s we have no shortage of miltech to pull from. Even an abrams could fit through a stargate if they could get one to it which leaves a lot of leeway for recon vehicles, mraps, atvs, or even an attack or transport helicopter if they can fold the rotors away. even down to their personal kit a lot of the battles are happening at sub 100 meters so things like automatic shotguns with slugs or buckshot should be absolutely devastating to the goauld.

These kind of “list” are boring like hell to me. How about crank it up to the next level: you build it up then test it in “real” condition (standard scenario; table top or PC) then include the battle into the video and see if you are right or not in your selection. Now, that should be fun.

Oh man I really hope Halo gets chosen! Looove me some Halo lore

This is going to be pretty close by the looks of it, Stargate team though should win, that is the most interesting.

I like Stargate SG Team the most, then HALO UNSC Armored Regiment.

William Davies

The Stargate SG team, a HALO UNSC Armoured Regiment, and an ASOIAF mercenary company would be interesting. But there's already content out on how to build a medieval army and how armoured units are designed, and I think the Stargate one will be more interesting because there is, from what I can find, significantly less out about Stargate units than there would be for the other options.

GhostReaper

I feel that the battlegroups we've been building have usually been done in science fiction settings. It would be an interesting change of pace if we tried venturing into a fantasy setting for a change.

I think what makes a Stargate team unique from these other options is that while all are equipped to fight a battle, a Stargate team is expected to do so much more. No one knows what could beyond the immediate vicinity of the gate. They have to be prepared to fight any number of hostile alien forces, engage in diplomacy with uncontacted people, recover/disarm alien technology. The very nature of their work is exploratory and exploration can be difficult to prepare for.

Do you have a series on building your own warships and fleets? Or do you just have your ship class videos and this series?

William Davies

Given how a UNSC Armoured Regiment is only slightly ahead of an SG Team, are both going to be turned into videos? Or is it going to be that the UNSC Armoured Regiment becomes a video and the SG Team might become another option in a later poll (or something else entirely?

Miy Eterp

I still prefer Stargate Team.

William Davies

I do as well - I was asking because it looks like the UNSC Armoured Regiment looks like it'll get the most votes.

Miy Eterp

Yeah seems so... Which meant no Stargate video...

William Davies

It's been fluctuating between 3-4% behind the UNSC option - I think our best chance is hoping that makes it a popular enough option to become a video - or at least that it makes it into the next poll.

Miy Eterp

Yeah hopefully the next poll...
