Slight change of plans, folks. I’m going to be moving on from the Dead End. I’m not really feeling it anymore; the momentum is off, my motivation is kinda flatlining… and that ‘Cain DxD’ story is all but shouting my muse’s name.

I felt it just trying to start this next chapter, and I know my writing won’t be at its best like this, so I’m going to cut and shift now rather than try to push through. I was kinda planning to switch focus soon regardless; this is just a quicker switch than I expected, that’s all.

As for Cain DxD, it won’t be a direct prequel covering Sean’s life in DxD, just inspired by it and running with the idea. It’ll be set in the objectively great sandbox that is Historical DxD, obviously, following Cain through the ages. The Dead End DxD chapters mean I’ve already done a fair bit of worldbuilding groundwork, and DxD has always been pretty forgiving for homebrew and sub-crossovers, so I have plenty of flexibility to work with. It’s almost certain that I’ll include elements from Historical/Mythological FATE. Actually, thinking about it… Yeah, it’s going to be an outright DxD/FATE X-over; still DxD first but with FATE (especially the Age of Gods) integrated into it.

I think the concept has a ton of potential to stand all on its own, and I’m much more motivated to write it at the moment. I already have a damn good idea for the first chapter. The title I have in mind quite frankly just slaps, too. I even made a quick and dirty cover, using my favorite image of Cain (all credit to the artist: bone_beef) (＾▽＾)
